    - Mounting a USB Camera as an external hard-drive Hey there. I'm trying to plug in various common USB digital cameras into a test Windows CE board. My aim is to have the camera storage appear as a mounted volume when the camera is connected to my CE device via USB. There have been several questions around the subject, but most people seem to want some sort of webcam behaviour, whereas all I want to do is have CE 'see' the camera as a new drive so I can grab the files off it.     - Writing SDIO drivers hi, I am trying to write a device driver for an SDIO card for a imate JAM Pocket PC. I have a few doubts, i would be grateful if i could get some clarifications . 1. I have Platform Builder5.0. But i think i cannot use it for developing the driver. coz i should not/cannot download an OS image to my PDA. Is that right? If so EVC++ is the only to proceed ...i think. 2. The PDA has an sdbusdriver.dll and an HSDCard.dll which are the bus driver and hostcontroller driver respectively.How do i find out if this hostcontroller driver supports SDIO? If this hostcontroller driver does support SDIO, then i should be writing only the client driver? 4.How do i go about doing the client driver? I am thinking it should expose a stream interface with xxx_init, xxx_ open, etc entry points. 5.How can i debug a dll in EVC++? 6. How can i load the custom driver? I readin msdn that i should modify the registry at Drivers\\SDCARD\\ClientDrivers\\Class\\Custom\\ with the MANF ID, CID etc. How do i obtain these ID's? I will be grateful for any help.     - hooking concept in win CE Hi all, I have a doubt, whether the concept of hooking is allowed in Windows CE. I don't see a positive result for this in any place.     - Createfile fails in japanese PDA (windows CE 5.0) Hi All, We wrote a driver for iPAQ PDA Windows ce 5.0 OS. The driver & app works fine in English version (Default Language). But with the same make PDA with OS with Japanese language the application fails when calling Createfile api. The handle returned for api is invalid handle.     - Problem about USB host in CEPC under VMWare Hello, everyone! I'm developing a usb host client driver under WinCE 5.0. Because our WinCE platform is not available now, I install a CEPC under the VMWare to test my driver. In the PB, I choose the USB host driver component. But when I plug the usb device in after CEPC booted, the WinCE has not any response while the VMWare has already recognise the USB device. I don't know why. Could anybody give me some hints?     - Compact Framework 2.0 in PB 4.2 Hello, My system: PXA255, 32 MB FLASH, 64 MB RAM, Platform Builder 4.2. I would like to run aplications made with Compact Framework 2.0. So, I have installed the CF 2.0 cab in my system. After doing this, the applications work fine. But when I reset the system, I lost the compact framework configuration. In the installation, some of the files are always stored in Windows folder, no matter what folder you choose on the installation. The new files in the Windows folder are stored in RAM, so when you reset the system, all the files are lost. If I choose the flash folder to make the installation and I save the registry to make the changes persistent, the result is the same I have tried to include CF 2.0 in my Operating System image with no result. I have included all the files of the cab in a BIB file, and all the registry entries in a REG file of the image. When I load this image in my system, I have checked that all the files needed are in the windows folder, and all the registry entries are in the registry. Everything is fine, but the CF2.O aplications doesn't work. I think that CF 2.0 , in its initialization , checks if the files are in ROM, and if so, it reports an error and stops working. Is it possible to include CF2.0 in an Operating System image using this method? Is there another solution? Thanks in advance. Javi.     - Unable to play Media file in WinCE 5.0 Hi All, I built the Webpad project using the Platform builder. Webpad project supports the Media player application. I think, Webpad project enables all the codecs. I executed the Nk.bin image and in the desktop, I am able to see the media player application. ---------- When I play the ".wmv" file using the media player, the media player is showing the error "One of the required codecs for this file is not available. Playback will continue with reduced functionality". ---------- And when i paly the ".mpg" file using the media player, the media palyer is showing the error "Cannot open '\Storage Card\movie.mpeg".     - PB IDE: Platform Folder Won't Open I'm having a wierd problem with PB 5.0. I've been happily doing BSP work, but then at some point, the "IDE-->File View-->c:\WINCE500-->Platform Folder" won't open. When I start PB, there's a "+" sign on it begging me to open it. I click the folder, and hear the hard drive whirr, and then I just get a folder with no "+" sign on it. While I can't be positive whether I ever had the Private folder openning with files to show, it is doing the same thing. The Public folder, however, is openning as usual. I think this happenned while I was preparing a binary BSP for someone (deleted all source and modified DIRs directories). It's like PB thinks the source is still gone but actually it's there and the DIRs files are right. Is there a file I need to delete to force PB to rebuild some internal table so the UI knows about it? Note: I can do Sysgen's & "build and sysgen current bsp" happily and get my image as usual.     - Image getting corrupted? I have an image that runs out of flash. The first time - directly after download and flash write, the image does not boot properly. Resetting the device works.     - Windows CE - Audio not working Hi WinCE is running on AU1200 MIPS Processor. Downloaded BSPs that are already available for AU1200 from bSquare. After downloading the run time image on the target machine, there is no audio/sound detected. While building the image, PSC_12S and PSC_SMBus drivers for audio (PDD) have been used. If software mixer registry settings are used then the image can't be visible on target even though it is loaded successfully, so software mixer settings in PSC_12S.reg is commented (and the image is appearing properly but with no sound).     - TouchCalibrate I use PB 4.2 to build a Windows CE system for samsung2410 board. I use RAM-based file system. I want to save the touch screen calibration infomation in a file when user calibrate it. when user called TouchCalibrate() function. After calibartion, I save the registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Hardware\Devicemap\Touch "CalibrationData"="***" to a file,And then, there some software can write the CalibrationData to registry from the file we have been saved. I found the registry had changed to the new value. But it didn't calibrate, i.e. the system didn't use the new calibration data from the registry. My problem is, how to let the system to use the calibration data from the registry? Is there any others things I forget to set?how can i do! Thanks in advance! As my understanding, The size of XIP is 32MB , and all of my project's DLL is more than 32MB. so the "Code Space Full" message will be displayed. Should I enable multiple XIP if I do NOT want to see "Code Space Full" message ? Beside, when I execute any AP (Word-Viewer , Image-Viewer ... ) , system will display "Data Abort" message. Hello, All: I have been met a problem with producing a nk.bin file, and, my nk.bin cannot start up after running loadcepc.exe, I have noticed its production document, I found its display monitor is CT69000, and platform builder's help document tells me that I have to ensure the VESA supported package were packeted into its BIOS. However, I've no idea with if there's VESA support, and following the steps from the microsoft's documents of platform builder, I have used vesatest.exe to test it, it shows there's 10 types of display modes is supported.     - CE 4.2 & Media Player Full Screen issues Folks, We have a handheld device with no keyboard, there's 1 5-way toggle & volume buttons, we also have Media Player 9 as part of the OS image. If we switch MediaPlayer to play in "Full Screen" mode, it appears that we have no way of "escaping" out of it without cold booting the device. Is this expected behaviour or did we miss something and there is a way to get out of full screen mode ? tia P.S.     - HELP: using net command with XP shared folder. Strange TCP/IP behavior. Hello to all NG, specially to Paul that in old posts has give some suggests to similar problems. I've this situation: WinCE 4.2 on PXA255 with bluetooth dongle and TCP/IP services installed, without any Wi-Fi or ethernet device. First step: I've to map a network share on a desktop PC running 2000/XP or 2003 and Microsoft/Widcomm bluetooth stack. On WinCE I'm able to discovery BT devices, map SPP port of my XP desktop PC, create a new dial-up connection that use the mapped virtual COM port (set VCOM parameters as 115200,N,8,1), create on XP desktop PC an new incoming connection (RAS and Routing service is enabled automatically by OS) using COM6 (the BT incoming port on desktop PC) and connect WinCE. The connection works fine, XP desktop PC gives a qualified IP to WinCE (from the range specified on TCP/IP properties of Incoming Connection profile) and from WinCE I can ping XP desktop PC either via IP number (192.168.0.100) either via name (as desktop but also as desktop.fulldomain.org). Then I try net view \\desktop and after credentials window it works When I try net view \\desktop.fulldomain.org it gives error 87 "net use \\desktop\shared local" works fine and I exchange files. Why using extended domain name I get error 87? However if I ping server or desktop2 I get bad ip address. Only if I use full domain name, as server.fulldomain.org or desktop2.fulldomain.org, ping works fine (in my network I've a DNS server and XP RAS pass to WinCE this DNS Server IP address). Second step: the shared folder is on a server in the network, but WinCE must use the dialup connection with the nearest desktop PC (BT range is 15 meters and I can't plug the BT dongle on the server, why it's very far from WinCE device) that is connected via ethernet cable to the same server network. The problem now, once connected via dial-up with XP desktop PC, is that from WinCE I can ping the server using its IP address or full domain name, but if I try to use ping server or net view \\server or net view \\server.fulldomain.org it doesn't work and return error 87. What does error 87 means? Every other tool that use TCP/IP (ping, tracert, route) using full domain name is working fine, also internet explorer with http is working fine with full domain names. How does "net" command translate the name of the XP desktop PC? It seems that it doesn't use DNS server settings but tries another way to translate the name in IP address but without success. Do I need a WINS server in my network that translate the names for WinCE device, and specify WINS address into TCP/IP setting of dialup profile? Why net view/use works only with the shared folders of the desktop PC that WinCE dial-in, but I can access full network trought the same desktop PC? It seems that problem is not at TCP/IP level, but at "Folder and Printers sharing" service, or in the way that net command tries to resolve name. Why I can use net view \\desktop with success and net view \\desktop.fulldomain.org doesn't works? However \\desktop and \\desktop.fulldomain.org are translated to the same IP address by DNS server, so it really seems that net command doesn't use DNS then! What kind of mechanism does net command use for translating names? P.S.: net view \\ppp_peer return error 53, but ping ppp_peer works fine. Anybody can give me any suggest?     - Install File System Development Hi, I'm trying to make a private IFS in WinCE, and working with Platform Builder in emulated environment with RamDisk. I have successfully implemented a null file system and have verified that the MyFSD.dll was loaded and unloaded. But after that, I have tried to implement some of the functions that FSD should provide for FSD Manager. Two of them, MyFSD_MountDisk() and MyFSD_UnmountDisk were implemented and the .def file was properly modified for FSDMGR to know that. (below) EXPORTS MyFSD_MountDisk MyFSD_UnmountDisk FSD_MountDisk=MyFSD_MountDisk FSD_UnmountDisk=MyFSD_UnmountDisk MyFSD_... ....... After the implementation of the above, I was trying to see if the IFS was properly mounted, but found that the function MyFSD_MountDisk() was never called. DllMain() was called twice - DLL_PROCESS_ATTACH, DLL_PROCESS_DETACH. It was unloaded just after it was loaded. Does anyone can tell me any clue or suggestion?     - invalid handle returned from SD API Hi, I am trying to develop a SDIO device driver using Evc++. The target device is an imate PPC. I am not using platform builder, as i am not to use a development board, but just write a driver for the PPC device which has an OS already. My device has an SDBusdriver.dll So i am thinking that i should develop a host controller driver and a client driver. Initially i am doing an SD card Client Driver and will try to modify it from there.( Dont know if this is a good way to proceed) I am currently modifying the registry in the HKLM/Drivers/...../SDMemory_Class to replace the existing sdmemory.dll client driver with my own SD card driver called MySD.dll. I encountered the following problem in my driver code. in the xxx_init, i have called the SDGetDeviceHandle(param1,param2) API. I get the HKLM/...../SDMemory_Class path in the param2 variable and got a value for the handle returned by the API. I used the Remote tools from EVC++ and in remote registry editor i checked the active list of drivers. It showed one subkey as 'Hnd' and onemore subkey as 'ClientInfo'. The handle value got from the API is the same as the value in ClientInfo and not the one in Hnd.I expected the value to be the one in 'Hnd' and not the one in 'ClientInfo'. Is this a problem? if so how to correct it? Next, i called the SDRegisterClient(...) API with the handle returned by the SDGetDeviceHandle API as one of the parameters to SDRegisterClient. But this is causing an error, and the error code is 0xC0000006. I understand that this status implies an INVALID HANDLE. However, since the SDGetDeviceHandle API returned me the correct registry path, i think the handle must also be correct. I cant understand why the handle is invalid.     - Bad response from PB to serial BOOTME request We're trying to implement a CE 5.0 serial bootloader for an ARM7-based target (we have no Ethernet and no USB). When trying to connect with PB, the target is reporting "received non-download packet type". A dump of the the received packet shows that the pktType field is 0xAA (KS_PKT_KITL). This is not one of the 3 packet types that RecvPacket() is expecting. All PB is doing is spitting out the following messages: The Kernel Debugger is waiting to connect with target. The Kernel Debugger has been disconnected successfully. What going on? Thanks, Scott Background info: Target CPU is an ARM7 in a custom ASIC. We are currently loading the code through a JTAG debugger. There is currently no way to flash the code on the board right now. The current target is a temporary interim device until our real target board is available. We've modified the CEPC SBOOT code to work with our hardware and have verified that the serial send and receive functions work. Debug messages (EdbgOutputDebugString(), etc.) are being routed throught the ARM7 DCC port using the semihosting support in our debugger. We're at the step where we're told to simply "Download the Eboot.bin file." Nowhere are we told how to accomplish this -- apparently newbies are just supposed to "magically know" how to do all of these things. We're assuming that PB's Target->Attach Device is the correct thing to do. PB's Target->Connectivity Options are set to Download=Serial, Transport=Serial, Debugger=KdStud (it defaulted that way and we haven't changed it). The serial settings for both Download and Transport match what our target is doing. The instructions so far have said to build the bootloader code using "build -c" command line. I've created a dummy project in PB using our platform that we created by cloning (since PB's Target->Attach Device menu item is grayed out unless you have a project open). Since there doesn't appear to be any way to change the location or name of the file being downloaded, we copied and renamed the test .bin file produced by "build -c" to the place PB wants to find it. The project has not been built since it won't (we're not that far along yet -- still trying to get the bootloader working).     - How to disable Wireless Zero Config On our WinCE 5.0 platform, we have a PCMCIA (actually CF) Prism2-based WiFi card. The built-in ISLP2 driver works fine with WZC, but we have our own WiFi connection manager that we would prefer to use. But if I disable WZC by unchecking its "Use Windows to configure my wireless settings" checkbox, my card doesn't seem to associate with AP's or get an IP, even though NDIS calls seem to indicate that I *am* associated nicely. If I enable WCZ, let it perform an initial association, and then disable it, then everything is good and my own wireless manager can happily associate and disssociate with AP's. Ideally, I would love to to totally remove WZC. But if I can't, then I would like it to be totally invisibile and unobtrusive. I have implemented the GET/SETPOWERMANAGEMENT driver escapes in my
driver, but I am seeing unexpected behaviour. When I make a
SETPOWERMANAGEMENT call to move from VideoPowerStandBy or
VideoPowerSuspend to VideoPowerOn, the call does not make it through to
my driver and seems to be intercepted by the power manager. Which seems
to sending broadcast of some kind (have traced through assembly). I
have tried registering for device power notifications and receieve
nothing.

Is this correct behaviour or a possible bug in WinMobile?

Any help would be appreciated?
