    - USB 2.0 hub doesn't work on WinCE 5.0 Hi, I am new to WinCE and have trouble to make USB 2.0 hub working. My platform is Geode NX, SiS 741/946. Working USB devices : keyboard, mouse, 2.0 USB diskonkey. 1.1 hub and devices below it. Non-working USB devices : USB 2.0 hub (self-powered and bus-powered) What I found until now is, it takes several seconds in ExternalHub::GetStatusChangeBitmap. And dwBytesTransferred is 0.     - missing 91c111 interrupts Hello, I have a CE 4.2 SH3 platform with IRQ0 set as a rising-edge triggered interrupt that is connected to the INT0 pin on a SMSC91C111 ethernet chip. Under high traffic conditions the chip is resetting. I searched this newsgroups and read the postings regarding this issue on this chip and I plan to implement the fix that involves checking the status of the interrupt from the OAL prior to re-enabling the interrupt and setting the IST event so that a "missed" rising edge will be serviced anyway. I was thinking this must be done in OEMInterruptEnable(). What API(s) exist to find out what event handle NDIS has set up to service the IST so that I can set the event myself when this condition occurs? Any advice is appreciated.     - Could not play MP3 radio stream with WinCE 5.0 media player When I try to open a MP3 radio stream in Windows CE Media Player, I receive this error message: "The server received invalid data from the client on the control connection. ( 0xc00d0032 ). I searched the internet for this error message. According this site: "http://www.narrowstep.com/playerhelp/index.html?wmp_error_0xc00d0032.htm" it means that I should open a specific UDP port on my firewall, but I do not use any firewall in my WinCE os. In fact, I am able to play MP3 radio streams from my XP PC on the same network. I am using Windows CE 5.0. My OSDesign contains all available audio/video codecs and all available Media features from the catalog, including "WMA and MP3 streaming". These are the MP3 radiostreams I use for testing: - http://81.173.3.132:80/ - http://shoutcast.omroep.nl:8022/ Does anybody know what is wrong here?     - (Help)(How to identity WinCE Nand storage as Usb Disk) Dear Friends: My WinCE BB has 2G nand flash, but the Code&Data is only 20M, so I have confige the residual space as a storage disk. How can I make this space as Usb Mass Storage disk, I analysis WinCE Usb driver code, and now when device attached to the PC, Usb driver received "Attach" message , for this message, Usb driver need initialize Store(Call Store_Init), but it's fail.     - RAS Server User Credentials Hiho! I'm writing an administration tool for the WinCE-RAS-Server. The RasIOControl-function provides setting and removing user-credentials. Is it possible to read those information? I just want to get a list of the allowed usernames. I don't mind the passwords. Has anybody an idea how to do that? One is that when I excute Add/Remove Programs in ActiveSync tools, this program is waiting for ever.     - Serial driver- 16 byte FIFO usage! Hi all, I am working on serial communication and my problem is that the CPU usage is about 90% during serial communication. For this reason, i want to improve performance by using the 16 byte FIFO of 16C84(or whatever the integrated circuit used for serial communication). How can i efficiently use this FIFO in program?     - sdmmc porting problem report Hi, all I've got problems with porting the sdmmc 1.x driver from WCE 4.2 to WCE (windows mobile) 5.0. There is just little time given to me. Plz, help me. Is it possible to port the sdmmc to WCE 5.x in a short time? The below is the problem list. [Problem List] 1. At first, I got some problems when I ported it at Debug mode. One of them was my device was halted and it didn't work again. But after building by releas mode, it seemed to work fine... maybe not I think now. --> anyone knows why? 2. Finally I found that a card was detected and I was able to see the folder, "Storage Card". But I found out that the driver reported an error (ERROR_WRITE_PROTECT) due to the SD hardware protection, but the OS didn't show up any message. The driver calls SetLastError(ERROR_WRITE_PROTECT) but no answer.. I guess it seems not to notice other errors as well. --> plz, help me.. it's driving me crazy. Is it related to the problem number 3 below? 3. GetStorageID error I've seen several lists with the problem but little bit different except the list below. Plz, answer how to solve it. --> jojje! In the SDMemory driver (in file sdmemmain.cpp, function GetStorageID) the following check of buffer space fails: if( cBytes < (sizeof(*psid)+SD_SIZEOF_STORAGE_ID) ) GetStorageID return ERROR_INVALID_PARAMETER. cBytes is determined by COREOS\STORAGE\STOREMGR\store.cpp and is set to sizeof (STORAGE_IDENTIFICATION) (=16 bytes). SD_SIZEOF_STORAGE_ID is 12 and sizeof(*psid) is 16, so this check will fail. What should I do? I'm using CE 5.0 on a Samsung s3c2410 platform.     - Take long time to detect and recognize USB storage device I believe this issue has been raised quite a few times. We have been dismissing it as a problem associated with USB storage device's controller and/or firmware. Recently, one of our customer raised this issue again. As the result, I spent some time to investigate and done some testing. I found that "Hive-based" registry support component is causing the delay in detecting and recogniztion USB storage device. When I built a WinCE 5.0 image WITHOUT "Hive-based" registry support, the system can detect and recognize USB flash storage device almost instantly. When I built a WinCE 5.0 image WITH "Hive-based" registry support, it takes the system more than 90 seconds to detect and recognize the very same USB flash storage device. I verified the above behavior on two separate x86 based system with different CPU. The above behavior is consistence on both system. 1. eBox-II using ICOP_Vortex86 BSP 2. Via Eden system using ViaCN BSP I use "Internet Appliance" template with the default components to build the image with the following components added. - ATAPI Block driver - FAT file system - USB Storage Class driver - Hive-based registry (excluded in some of the builts) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I am hoping that some of you out there experienced similar problem, found a solution and willing to share with everyone here. It is DDraw based and I had to remove some stuff from it because the DirectDraw in CE5.0 does not support some functions/struct/etc. anymore.     - Help needed in creating installation utility for Installing the WinCE 5.0 driver on CEPC using .cab files for some device I am using WinCE 5.0 and I have one system CEPC that has pentium II. I have created some modem device driver on windows ce 5.0. I want to create some installation utility to install the wince driver on CEPC using .cab files. I have created .cab file using .inf file and CabWizard utility. Now I have Installed ActiveSync 4.2 in my system as i find that CEAppMgr.exe" is a component of ActiveSync, specifically the agent which handles the transfer of CAB files onto the device. It has created the following registry entries in the host system. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\App Paths\CEAPPMGR.EXE. I have also created .ini file that describes which .cab files correspond to which platform Now still i am not getting how to use CEAppMgr and my .cab files to install the driver on CEPC for some handset. I find one setup.exe file that facilitates in installing the driver and uses the .ini file as a command line argument.     - FAILED TO LAUNCH WINCE IMAGE PROPERLY Hello Everybody, I am using Platform builder 5.0 to create a wince image for a device based on intel PXA255 architecture. I already built images for this target and managed to load it, program it into flash and run it. The problem is that the other day I added support for .NET CF2 and since then I cannot boot the device properly. I have retruned back to my first image (that used to work) but I observe the same behavior. I join to this post some debbuging messages if it can help..     - SMSC end of my rope Hi All, I have been stuggling off and on for better than a month with the SMSC LAN91C111 and Windows CE 4.1 running on an XSCALE board. The design was based on the MAINSTONE, and I have had lots and lots of problems. A number of them were simply inexperience on my part. Others were bugs in the MAINSTONE reference and the driver code from SMSC. I would never have made it this far without the help I received from this news group. Everyone here is great. I wish I could say the same for the support I have received from SMSC. Even with all the work I have done, I am still very disappointed with my ENET implementation. Currently, I am using the ENET driver version 2.0 in combination with the LAN91C111 10/100 ENET part on a PXA270 XSCALE based board. At first glance, when Windows CE 4.1 boots, the Ethernet appears to be working. I get a DHCP address, I can ping the address, and the responses are consistently in the 2ms range. I can also browse the internet successfully. I have an application that periodically sends small TCP packets to a server for processing, and this works too. Using simple PING sessions, I have successfully communicated with the unit over a 48 hour period. However, everything I have described up until this point is very "light" traffic. If I try to FTP files, use MS ActiveSync over ENET, or run an Ethernet debugger, very quickly I begin to see RX Overruns. After a few more seconds and some mini-port resets, my Ethernet connection is locked up and I must disconnect and reconnect the media to restore the connection. My debug or FTP or whatever session is ruined until I reboot the platform, but I can restore the ability to respond to PINGs. I see a number of these same kind of reports scattered on the web, specific to the SMSC part/driver paired up with the XSCALE processor. The reported cause is "missed" interrupts, stemming from the part being level sensitive, and the PXA270 being an edge triggered device. The way software flows is like this: 1) The OEMInterrupt handler will get called in the kernel. This function is responsible for returning the SYSINTR value that in turn triggers the Interrupt handler in the SMSC driver. At this time, additional interrupts from this GPIO source are disabled. 2) Once triggered, the SMSC Interrupt Handler essentially "polls" the chip and tries very hard not to exit until it has serviced all requests. Once the chip reports no more interrupts, OEMInterruptDone gets called down in the kernel. 3) In OEMInterruptDone, the GPIO which monitors the SMSC interrupt gets re-enabled. The obvious spot for an interrupt to get missed is between the time when the driver last checks the SMSC chip for interrupts, and control gets back to the kernel and OEMInterruptDone is called. What seemed like the most straight forward solution was to simply re-enable the GPIO interrupt, then do a level check before exiting. If the level indicated an interrupt, but the edge detect bit was not set, then I knew I had missed the edge, and I simply needed to return the SYSINTR value and the process would start all over again. This is the technique we used on our old SMSC part, the SMC9000 chip, and it served us well. However when the problem still persisted, I assumed this technique was not going to cut it for the new 100MB part. So I got with our hardware engineer, and we AND'ed the SMSC interrupt in our CPLD with the 50Mhz CPLD clock. The thought now was if we missed an edge so what. I reconfigured the GPIO to trip on a rising or falling edge and thought there was no way now the issue would persist. Yet it did. At that point I did some more digging through the news groups. Someone directed me to an interesting thread written by a knowledgeable source that claimed sometimes the NDIS layer did not always call EnableInterruptHandler using the call back address provided by the NDIS_MINIPORT_CHARACTERISTICS structure. The suggested fix was to NULL out this parm in the structure, and manually invoke this function at the end of the HandleInterruptHandler function. I did this but did not see any improvement. Is there anyone out there who can tell me they use this part with the XSCALE and have satisfactory results? I'm not looking for throughput, just stability. I am beginning to doubt whether this is possible without a serious rewrite of the SMSC supplied driver. If anyone could share any experiences on this subject, even if it is to suggest another ENET part altogether, I'd appreciate any and all feedback. I am looking to purchasing Visual Studio 2005. At this time I use eVC for application development on a custom platform for a client. Our future direction for this product requires adding some additional features that the client would like developed in VS 2005. My question is: does the Standard version of VS 2005 support development of applications using the .NET compact framework for custom platforms? With eVC we use the SDK generated with PB, I am asuming VS 2005 can also use this SDK. I would like to use the standard version since it is quite a bit less expensive; however it is not clear from any details I can find whether it supports this development.     - Target hangs loading relfsd.dll After downloading nk.bin, the target hangs while loading relfsd.dll. Does anyone know what the problem might be ? I have tried using RAM and hive based registry in platform.reg but to no avail. but it looks it may not be a registry problem.     - Missing kdstub.dll in image but have kd.dll, failed to connect PB. Hi All, I am trying to set up Platform Builder Kernel debugger (kdstub). I have tried for quite some time but is still unable to connect Platform Builder to my device for debugging. Platform Builder is always in 'The Kernel Debugger is waiting to connect with target' status. Hope someone can help me with this. My device has no Ethernet port, in order to debug USB module, so I am trying to use serial KITL. I have already loaded the image to the device with other tools (so I do not need download settings to be configured). I understand that in order to use kdstub, I need to include Kernel Debugger capability in the image. I am doing a release build but have undefined IMGNODEBUGGER (i.e enable kernel debugger) and IMGNOKITL (i.e enable KITL). However, I cannot find kdstub.dll in the release directory. What I have are kd.dll, osaxst0.dll and osaxst1.dll. Is this the reason why Platform Builder cannot connect to my device? If yes, how do I include kdstub.dll in the image? Also, may I know if it is a must to specify a transport in 'Target->Connectivity Option' before Platform Builder can connect to the device? I set the transport to serial, I want to make sure if the problem is from my serial KITL code or is it due to some settings that I have not correctly configured. The program I wrote searches the registry for FIR COM port (usually COM2) and opens it at 115200 bps. When I push a button on a remote control my program prints a sequence of characters received.     - possible shell issue Could someone try this and let me know whether it is just me ? I've noticed on the CE 5.0 shell, if I am in large icons mode with a bunch of files with long file names and start a touch outside all of the icons and quickly move to a select a file, the display of the file changes to show the entire file name as if that one file received focus. This redrawing of the individual file messes up the draw of the select box and ends up leaving garbage on the screen. I've the best luck seeing it from the bottom of the list since the garbage doesn't overlap with other icons.     - adding module changes system fonts? I have a tried and true Windows 4.2 BSP for PXA255 that has been running in a product for many months. Now I need to simply add a module executable file to the image using project.bib. When I add this, rebuild the image and run, all the windows systems fonts have changed to what looks like ariel, or some other narrower font. This new image also seems unstable, as it locks up occasionally. I have autosize turned on in config.bib and plenty of ram (64MB) to support this image. Image was 5.9MB and with the additional module added is now about 7.5MB. Has anyone seen an issue like this? It seems like I'm walking on some ram somewhere, but I can't figure out how this could happen. I'll be happy to provide snippets of config files if it will help diagnose this issue.     - Version Control Hello, How do people typically store Platform Builder projects under version control (Visual SourceSafe here)? Does it typically suffice to stored the winceroot/pbworkspaces/<project> and the winceroot/platform/<bsp> folders? That seems like quite a bit of stuff, and I want to make sure there aren't any other alternatives before checking all of this in. Or if we just use standard catalog items, is there a few files that would take the place of the entire project folder, which specifies the correct catalog entries, and then store our bsp directory also.     - Recent QFEs Hi, I've been trying to get the June and July QFE roll-ups for CE4.2 to install. So far, I've had no luck at all. This is the first failure of this sort that I've suffered and with the msi file being essentially sealed up, I don't even know what to look for. The problem occurs with the June roll-up which includes the .NET CF 2.0sp1. I get an error about not being able to add the CEC file for that to the catalog. There's a place for a reason in the dialog, but that's empty and none of the files are installed in \public\netcfv2. It reads, "The CEC file (netcfv2.cec) could not be imported because of the following reasons:". If I try to install the July QFE roll-up, I get a similar problem with the SQL Mobile. Same error message box with the CEC file name for SQL Mobile. This system has both CE4.2 and CE5 installed on it, VS.NET 2003, and VS2005, but that's never been a problem before.     - SD write protection I have a working SD Card driver running on an i.MX21 CPU (ARM9) platform and CE 5.0 OS. The problem is that although I am returning the correct "Write Protection" Status to the OS via the SDHSlotOptionHandler request, I find that the OS still issues WRITEs to the write protected SD card!! Should the driver itself return an error in repsonse to a WRITE request to a write protected SD card or should the OS be taking this into consideration and never issuing a WRITE command? Hi,

I have a hardware which has 5 UARTs and one of them is used for slow IR. In
windows CE, all the UARTs are working. But when I tried in Windows Mobile
with the same hardware, one UART is not working. While debugging I have seen
that driver is writing the data to the FIFO but data is coming to the hyper
terminal. What could be the issue.

Is ther any limitation or known issue with the number of UARTs in Windows
Mobile.
