    - sdcard.lib -- where can I find it? Hello, I am porting a SDIO driver from CE4.2 using BSquare's SDNow to CE5.0 and built-in SDIO support. The 5.0 doc's say the library to link is 'sdcard.lib' but I cannot find it anywhere in the WINCE500 folders. Do I have to turn on a platform switch in PB to generate it?     - WinCE File Server question I've got a question about the File Server component in WinCE 5.0. I've set up a file server and can access it fine from the network that the CE device is connected to. My question is: Does WinCE support permissions (i.e. read-only, read-write) on the shares exported by the file server? It's not a configuration option in the Remote Administration tool (unless I've forgotten to add some component that gives me that ability). It seems that once a user has access to a CE device, they have read/write access to anything on the shares of the device.     - Problem with USB 2.0 and WINCE 5.0 on 855GME/ICH4 Board Hello, i have some problems with the EHCI controller. When I disable the EHCI controller in BIOS and use only the UHCI controller everthing works well. But when I enable the EHCI controller my platform does sometimes not regocnize when I attach or detach a USB device. I have already included the code for the EHCI and 64bit-Extension posted here a few weeks ago. The uhci.dll and ehci.dll are loaded. Perhaps someone can tell me some experiences with that chipset.     - PEAP Fast Reconnect in CE .NET 4.2 Hi, We have customers who insist on keeping the Fast Reconnect option enabled for PEAP authentication. Our wireless terminal is running CE .NET 4.2, QFE level 2004-Q3. On a warm/cold boot the terminal associates and connects properly. In this case a full handshake conversation takes place. However if the wireless terminal roams or suspends/resumes then it cannot connect anymore. QFE 030930_KB827824 confirms that PEAP Fast Reconnect is not supported in CE .NET 4.2 and specifies in the "More Information" section that: "The fix that is in this update does not add support for PEAP Fast Reconnect to Windows CE .NET. The fix only enables PEAP authentication to continue when the fast reconnection attempt is unsuccessful." When the authentication fails the debug captured from our wireless device shows that: - PEAP phase 1: the session resumption is successful - when phase 2 starts the PEAP server attempts to do fast reconnect (as a result of the successful session resumption in phase 1) - the peer receives the packet: - EAP Request 0x01 - message ID 0x32 (for this particular case) - PEAP version 0 - TLS version 1 - TLS packet content type 0x17 Application Data - TLS data (encrypted) - the peer decrypts the data and detects that the server attempts fast reconnect (this is spelled out in the debug message) - the peer builds a fail response - however the response message ID is 0x04 whereas it is supposed to match the request ID - the response is transmitted - the authenticator (i.e. access point) discards the fail response (see below excerpt form RFC 3748) - the PEAP server does not receive any response and the conversation fails RFC 3748 (EAP) states in section 4.1: "The authenticator is also responsible for discarding Response messages with a non-matching Identifier value before acting on them in any way, including passing them on to the backend authentication server for verification." So apparently the peer although does attempt to continue the conversation it fails to respond correctly as per EAP specs and the whole authentication fails. I should mention that the server is Cisco Secure ACS v3.3 running on a Windows 2003 Server box (although this detail should be irrelevant in this case). Any updates on this issue will be appreciated. There is a "renew" function to query the DNS for updated TCP/ip configuration information. All the functions that compute the width and height of the specified string of text for the current selected font make 'video shaking' effect. These functions are: GetTextExtentPoint, DrawText with DT_CALCRECT and GetCharABCWidths. It's really strange. Some of the calls of these functions make the screen changing/shaking for milliseconds - it looks like the video driver is trying to change screen start address.     - HDD as root file system in CE 5.0 System: X86 with HDD. System has no battery but will completely power-off. When the user installs software in \Windows or any other directory, these files should still be there after a shutdown/restart. I have set the environment variables PRJ_ENABLE_FSMOUNTASROOT = 1 and PRJ_BOOTDEVICE_ATAPI = 1. Documentation also mentions "MountFlags", but these are deprecated in CE 5.0. After I trace the codes, I found systems will hang up in sleep(10) of SetVideoPowerState. The same codes work in WinCE 4.2, but it failed in WinCE 5.0.     - SA1111 compatibility mode in the PXA250/255 - the SDRAM interface for the PXA250/255 has an "SA1111 compatibiltiy mode" WHY? the SA1111 interfaces to the SDRAM a bit differently than the PXA255. Both devices drive the same SDRAM for DMA transfers. So they both must be hooked up the same way. So the PXA255 has a bit you can set that allows you to change the wiring slightly on the SDRAM to match the SA1111. (it involves swapping 2 bits). - I swapped these bits and switched SDRAM to "normal mode". (bit12 of mdcnfg). This should theoretically not be a problem unless the SA1111 trys to do a DMA transfer. DRAM : 2x13x9x32 (bank,row,col,buswidth) - RESULT : the diagnositics crash when doing the SDRAM test. (The SA1111 MBREQ pin in inactive in this test) What am I missing here?     - cf card storage driver in 5.0 my device work with different lan cards now, thanks everybody. and now, a different problem. seems storage card is detected as i can see it in control panel->system->expansion card, but i can't see any thing in storage properties. one card do show partition there but i can't mount it. and i can't see active sync in the device. control panel -> connections-> make new connection, direct connection is in gray. in 4.2 these was fairly easy so i guess there's some missing feature in my project?     - Wireless Preferred list lost on reset HI all, I am developing an ARMV4I based CE V4.2 headless platform with wireless networking support. We are able to connect to a network and access it using wzctool. The system is using a Hive-based registry. The problem we are now trying to solve is this: Set the device up to connect to a network and place that connection in the preferred list. Sometime later power off the device. Power up the device. At this point we would like it to connect to the previous network which appears at the top of the preferred list, but no connection is made. In fact, when queried there is no preferred list for the card. Which part of Windows CE is responsible for keeping the preferred list (wzcsvc) and how do I make it permanent across a reset? After struggling with registry and other settings as described in the mentioned documentation (Help file), and searching on the internet, I found the PB documentation is based on CE 4.2 and NOT suitable for 5.0.     - USB OHCI doesn't work Hi, all I have add a USB host driver in my paltform, after build I find that the ohci2.dll is in the release directory and it is also in the ce.bib. But after I download the NK.bin to my platform board, I haven't found the ohci2.dll in the all module and it seems it doesn't load to the board. The USB host doesn't work.     - Verification of code in RAM I have written an application that verifies the validity of the CE image executing in RAM. It does this by stepping through the nk.bin stored in compact flash and saving the start address, length and checksum for each record that gets loaded into RAM. Periodically (every 30 seconds), the app checksums each record in RAM and compares the calculated checksum and stored checksum for the record. If the checksums don't agree, then a corruption has occurred and the app reboots the system. This app was originally written and tested with CE 4.2 and never indicated a checksum discrepancy. Recently I rebuilt the app for CE 5.0 and am now finding that it always finds a checksum difference in one and only one record - the third record. In addition, the calculated checksum is always 12 more than the stored checksum (eg. Calculated: 0x0143ee21 Checksum Record: 0x0143ee15). Given that this is extremely reproducible and began after going from CE 4.2 to CE 5.0, it seems that CE 5.0 may be modifying the RAM used by this record. Can anyone help me out here? Running Intels "diagnositic manager" After enabling the SDRAMs and before setting up virtual memory, I run a simple loop that writes & reads a single SDRAM location. This works correctly. On the scope I see write & reads to the SDRAM going quickly with no unexpected access to anything else going on. After setting up virtual memory and "going virtual" I have the same simple code except I write to the equivalent virtual memory location in SDRAM. I see the write & then read to the SDRAM just as before. However, after the SDRAM access comes 3 unexpected write/reads to the SA1111. Can anyone give me a clue as to what is going on here? At first I thought it was interrupts - however, the only interrupt enabled is 'match reg 1' which is used by the delay macro. CEPC#1 is running the SMB file server and CEPC#2 accesses files on CEPC#1 through the file server. If files are copied from CEPC#2 to CEPC#1 via this link, the LastWriteDate for the copied files is changed to the date/time that the copy occured. If I use a WinXP system to link to CEPC#1 and copy files that way, the LastWriteDate remains the same as it was on the XP system, which is the behavior I would expect. Dear All,

I am working on configuring Internet Appliance on a MIPS based
development board.
At the start up sometimes the startup sound doesnt play and many a
times there are disturbances.But playing audio file under heavily
loaded system doesnt create any problem.Now what should i do to make
sure that the startup music is always played.Iam not sure about fine
tuning the priority of the audio driver as i dont want it to affect
other drivers present in the system( the other drivers present are USB
driver for keyboard,mouse and mass storage device,ATA/ATAPI
driver,video driver,serial driver).

I know that explorer.exe plays the strartup file.I dont know if its
taking the file
via the release directory or from the image. Is there any method
through which i can
actually determine whether it is taken from the release (or) the image?
(i am
using the retail build) Would the .wav file being taken from release
directory also lead
to a similar situation by any chance?

I am not able to exactly narrow down the reason as to why with the same
configuration
the foresaid behaviour(startup file not playing) is observed.Also this
behaviour is consistent.
It happens once in every 7 or 8 downloads. Any other leads possible
with this scenario?
