    - File System in Wince 5... Hi all I am developing SD host driver , the driver will unload and reload client driver when system resume. Now I get a problem, that is while copy a file from SD card/flash to flash/SD card, then suspend and resume the system , the copy progress is not smooth, the progress will halt a few seconds(about 8s) , then continue copying.     - Win CE USB Mass Storage Class Driver Hello, We are using Win CE 5.0 USB host stack for the development purpose. We found that Win CE Host stack has a very low performance. We have done few modifications in the USB Mass Storage Class driver to enhance the speed of USB transfers in Host mode. WinCE Kernel USB Class Driver fixes - 1. Changed Max Transfer size from 8KB to 32KB. Result - Number of SCSI commands was reduced. 2. Removal of SCSI Test Unit Ready(TUR) Command during Read/Write operation. Result - Time taken by TUR Command is reduced during Read/Write operation. 3. WinCE Scatter-Gather Buffer changed from 8 to 128 (SG_MAX_BUF) Result - Disk I/O Delay is reduced by increasing the number of buffers Changes in MS WinCE Kernel system Memory 1. Memory Type changed to RAMdisk Result - RAMdisk access times are faster than WinCE system memory We need know, 1. Whether the above modifications will affect the stability of the Win CE kernel and system. 2. Will they have any detrimental affect on their internal kernel modules. Recently we faced this problem: 1)the 'waveOutSetVolume' documentation states that 'The low-order word [of 'DWORD dwVolume' parameter] contains the left-channel volume setting, and the high-order word contains the right-channel setting'. 2)AC97 codec registers for volume(s) are 16 bit: the LSB is the attenuation for the right channel, while the MSB is the attenuation for the left channel (actually only 5 bits out of 8 are used).     - Serial Problem with USB I have the following problem with serial devices connected through USB. Situation: Windows CE 5.0 running on a PXA270. NET CF 2.0 (No SP) USB Devices connected through a USB HUB. 1 FTDI USB To Serial device. Other USB devices (Including serial devices, and Mass storage devices) Recognition of all the USB Devices work without problems. When i boot up with my FTDI Device attached, all works and i can open the serial port and communicate, But as soon as i attach an other Serial USB device the FTDI Serialport gives an error (I suspect the port gets closed). This only happens if i attach a Serial based device (A GPS Mouse, and Microsoft Wireless keyboard,mouse for example) the problem does not occur if i attach a Non Serial device like a Storage device. The problem also doesn't occur if i attach another FTDI Serial device. When i attach the Serial device and then bootup the device no problems occur aswell so the devices are all recognised, it's only the fact that if you attach the device after bootup, and when the other serialport has already been opened my problem occurs. For test purposes i removed all the drivers for the GPS Mouse in the registry, so whenever i attach the GPS Mouse it's not recognised as a valid device and displays the famous add driver dialog, but even then my serialport gives me an error although in theory i would think that nothing would happen. Could anyone shed some light on this issue.     - USB Mass Storage-Usbmsfn.dll problem. Hi All, Right now my CE device is getting detected as a Mass Storage Device. I could see the drive as "USB Mass Storage Device D:" . But if i try to access, i could see only empty folder and when i view the properties, "Used Space" and "Free Space" are shown as 0 bytes. My platform USBFn driver is derived from pxa27x which is available in public folder. From my BSP platfrom i could get retail messages from pxa27x usbfn driver. But not from usbmsfn.dll which tells me that usbmsfn.dll is not at all getting loaded. I am not sure, what is causing usbmsfn.dll driver not to load? Please give me your inputs. I have managed to load the default usb printer class driver (usbprn.dll) and when printing from WordPad I can see my printer name "Deskjet 460" and port "LPT1:". But when i proceed to printing, I got this error: LPT_IOControl(0x160014, 0xe03eef4, 4, 0xe03eef8) LPT_IOControl(0x160014) : ERROR_NOT_SUPPORTED <LPT_IOControl:0 LPT_Close(0x50b50) The Io control code 0x160014 refers to IOCTL_PARALLEL_GET_ECP_REV_TRANS which is not supported by usbprn.dll.     - Storage Manager : Create 2 partitions Dear Professional Buddies, From the title shows us, We can create 2 partitions in 1 storage media deive, and we can see "HardDisk", "HardDisk2" directories under the Root directory. ( If we configured Flash driver registry with "Folder"="HardDisk" ). But I have a question, I searched all of the registry and I did not see where the "HardDisk" and "HardDisk2" configuration are.     - How to write File system filter driver on Windows CE 5.0 Hi there, I am having USB Mass storage feature working on my target (Windows CE 5.0). Also I have boot partition and support for Hive based registry working. I have totally 3 partitions on my internal flash card. ( BINFS partition where in I have stored NK.bin and 1st DOS32 partition has been mounted as root and 2nd DOS32 partition is used for user data storage. I want to expose 2nd DOS32 parition as mass storage. (i.e. Selective partition exposure). Following post says there are couple of ways of doing it.     - Error 4309 returned when writing files Hello, We have a WinCE 5.0 Core system running on a 1 Ghz x86 platform. The hard disk drive is set up as a CF card. Our program previously ran on WinCE 4.x with no problems, but now we repeatedly get errors when writing to the disk drive. GetLastError() returns 4309 (resource required). I suspect there is some security issue. We have the NoDefaultUser registry setting set to 0 by default. The platform was started from an internet appliance base and we have omitted all items we dont use in order to adhere to the core licensing agreement. We have no use for any "user" security. We need to be certain it is defeated, yet I haven't yet determine a successful solution. Any suggestions would be appreciated.     - IRQ_BULVERDE_MAX CE 6.0 Question Hey all, I am porting a 270 based platform from CE 5.0 to CE 6.0 and have found a discrepancy with the defined value of IRQ_BULVERDE_MAX between the two versions. In CE 5.0 it is defined as follows... #define IRQ_BULVERDE_MAX IRQ_RTCALARM ...where IRQ_RTCALARM = 31. In CE 6.0 it is defined as follows... #define IRQ_BULVERDE_MAX 63 //icmr (32) + icmr2 (32) Is there a reason this was changed? I am defining additional platform specific IRQ values based off of the IRQ_BULVERDE_MAX value, but this paradigm is broken in CE 6.0 because the OALIntrStaticTranslate() routine (common lib, map.c) is comparing against the OAL_INTR_IRQ_MAXIMUM value which is defined as 64 for both versions. What this causes is the IRQ translation in CE 6.0 to be skipped because the compare fails, which in turn causes the SYSINTR to be mapped to the IRQ init value of -1 and then breaks IRQ dependent drivers. Obviously, I can manage to work around the issue, but I just wanted to get the reasoning behind the change to IRQ_BULVERDE_MAX.     - Block device auto format prompt I have a problem which seems like it should be simple to solve but I can't work it out. I have developed a block device which is designed to store a file system on a file. This file can then be mounted and unmounted programatically to allow the user access to the filesystem. I've used the technique of using a dummy block device which bootstraps the normal FAT FSD, then the block device can be activated and deactived to bring the file system up and down. However the problem I has is that if the file has just been created it isn't formatted, so I need the option of being able to format it. I want a prompt to ask if the device should be formatted, then the user can decided to format or not to format. But without this key the disk was not being formatted correctly and the MBR/Sector 0 didn't appear to be correct. Previously I could set AutoFormat to 1 and the format was silent, or AutoFormat to 0 and the prompt appeared before mounting and formatting. Now all I get is a silent auto format, or nothing at all. This silent autoformat will cause a problem because the software on the PDA is designed to operate with an existing 2K/XP driver. If this file was created on the desktop and formatted as NTFS rather than FAT then clearly I don't just want the PDA to silently reformat the device and lose all the data. Another possibilty might be if I can programatically format the device. But I don't own the fsd driver so I don't know how to ask it to format the file system (e.g. using FSDMGR_FormatVolume), and I can't open the volume and use IOCTL_DISK_FORMAT_VOLUME or IOCTL_DISK_FORMAT_MEDIA because until it is formatted it won't mount so \MountedStorage\Vol: doesn't exist. Can anyone point of a solution to the auto format prompt, or tell me what I am missing with regard to a programatic format? Also I had a look in the PUBLIC\COMMON\OAK\LIB\ARMV4I folder and found that there are libs present correspondign to some components that have changed in the PRIVATE folder. I could not find all the libs corresponding to all the changed components. So, my question is, will it be fine if I do not install the PRIVATE source code? Is it OK if I get the updated libs in PUBLIC folder only and then build an image? What is the general procedure for including the PRIVATE folder source code into the NK.bin? I dont think the PRIVATE folder would be built ever, instead the corresponding libs from PUBLIC folder woulc be used. Try to understand Embedded :) I have a wince 5.0 based Application which creates a unnamed event and sends an IOCTL to driver. Upon completion of requested IO, driver uses setevent on event handle passed by APP. The whole thing works fine on WinCE 5.0 Now I have this driver in wince6.0 for a different platform, when i run the APP (built using wince 5.0), i see exception "Abort data" in driver (setevent, driver built using wince 6.0) using unnamed events is not allowed in WinCE6.0? If so, is there a work around for this instead of using named events?     - DDKReg_GetWindowInfo() returns ERROR_INVALID_PARAMETER Hi all, I have written a simple device driver that is loaded at boot time. The driver needs to read MemBase and MemLen from the registry when initialised. I use the pointer that I receive in XXX_Init( PVOID Context) to open the device key ( hnd = OpenDeviceKey( (LPCTSTR)Context ); ) and that seems to work. However, when I call DDKReg_GetWindowinfo() with the returned handle it returns ERROR_INVALID_PARAMETER. According to MSDN this "Indicates a problem with the populated DDKWINDOWINFO structure." What does this mean?     - Ethernet Throughput Too Slow for Wince 5.0 I am running wince 5.0 with an AMD AU1100 processor running at 396MHz. I am integrating a RTL8305SC ethernet switch within the hardware platform. I am currently getting around 16.5 Mbps throughput uploading a 40Meg file to a server, and 23.5Mbps downloading a file from a server. This seems extremely slow for WinCE 5.0. On the desktop I can get almost 80% of the 100MBps link speed. Is the ndis.dll driver at a low priority such that it is not able to buffer up packets and send them out faster than the current rate I am experiencing? How can I speed up the throughput? I currently purchase a US Robotics USB Adapter to integrate with my
WinCE 5.0 platform, but unfortunately the device is not recognized.
The power light does not come on indicating that the device is never
detected. I have and external HUB connect to my unit with a USB
mouse and keyboard connected. The other devices are working fine, but
I can't get the wireless USB 5421 adapter to work. I have read the
other posts about modifying the OHCD driver to delay the detection of
the USB 5421, but I don't know where inside the OHCD driver to
implement these changes. One post indicates that the device should be
detected as a full speed device, but where do I implement these
changes. I have an customized BSquare BSP for AU1100 MIPS processor
for the OHCD driver. If anyone has successfully integrated the USB
5421 device into their WinCE 5.0 platform, please post the
modifications that had to be made inside of the OHCD driver.
