    - catalog item won't "Add to OS design" I used the PB BSP Wizard to clone a BSP. I then add various device drivers to my OS design but the "Storage Devices" Implementation doesn't show up in my OS DesignView tree. In the catalog the "Storage Devices" Implementation contains an optional catalog item and a Catalog item group containing a single optional catalog item. Any help would be greatly appreciated.     - Kernel debugger Hi, On the Lubbock board, for kernel debugging support over ethernet - can this be done with BSP on PlatBuilder 4.1 ie with limited support for SMSC ethernet device.     - HCD can't detect usb device Hi all, I use PCI usb host card to test in my platform and I include usb storage class driver into my image. The debug message show no error but when I plug the usb storage ,seems nothing happen. I can't see any traffic in the protocol analyzer. Could you give some suggestion or file I can debug?     - Testing a CSP Hello, could anyone please provide some hints concerning the following problem: I need to develop a CSP for a Pocket PC running Windows Mobile 2003. Of course, I would like to test the whole thing before it gets sent to Microsoft for signing. Now the CE .NET 4.2 SDK doc says: "You must develop and test your CSP using the x86 emulator from the CSPDK using Windows CE running natively on a PC." The PlatformBuilder doc says: "You can use the Platform Builder Kernel Debugger, which disables signature verification." The latter option is not viable for me since I cannot run the Kernel Debugger with a preconfigured Pocket PC. The former option is not totally out of question but actually not preferable, since for proper testing I would need a Java VM running under Windows CE x86 (no discussion about that point, these are costumer requirements. I have a Java VM for Pocket PC ARM, though). BTW: I do not understand what the "x86 emulator from the CSPDK" is supposed to mean. Now my question: Is there really no other way to test the CSP directly on the target device without passing it to Microsoft for signing during the development cycles?     - Eboot stalls in OEMInitDebugSerial Hi, This is going back a bit but, i am trying to get a DBPXA255 Lubbock board running with Win CE.net 4.1 with Lubbock BSP. I have created an OS image and flashed eboot.nb0 from release directory to flash at address 0 with jflashmm tool. When i boot i get the following on Hyperterminal : *******Beginning System Initialization******* SDCLK[1] = MemClk/2 MemClk = 99.53 MHz Run Mode = MemClk Turbo Mode = 2 * Run Mode Mode: RUN Beginning SDRAM Scrub... SDRAM Scrub Complete Here it stalls, going into source code i can see its stalling in the function OEMInitDebugSerial (called from main.c in Eboot src) It is stalling in this function after it has called OEMInitDebugSerialKernel (ie setup the FFUART) and just before calling to OEMWriteDebugString (*****) so the banner full of *********** doesn't come up. I've checked it stalls here by inserting code to write to LEDS on the board. So probably UART initialisation failed although i know hardware is ok because i get the hyperterminal output above.     - RasServer Problems PB5.0 Hi, has anyone configured a rasserver in Wince5.0 succesfully? I have connected a analog modem at COM1: . But the rasserver doesn't work. I had compilied and started the rasserver Demoappliction from wince500/public/common/oak/drivers/netsamp/..., modified the parameter #define DEFAULT_DEVICE_TYPE RASDT_Modem. The appication runs without any errors, but the rasserver doesn't detect any incomming call. The autodetect mode of the modem is disabled. I think that any registry key which takes the connection between rasserver and unimodem.dll are wrong. Is it right, that I must see the AT command from unimodem.dll over the serial line, when the rasserver demoapplication configure the unimodem parameters??? An Demoappliction which opens Com1 , send AT, receive OK from the modem runs succesfully. After my application had detect the ring the application sends ATA and the incomming call was detected.     - Error opening "pkfuncs.h" in Platform Builder 5.0 Hello, In Platform Builder 5.0, I created a Tiny Kernel platform from the New Platform Wizard. Then I created a new static library project inside the platform. In one source file of the project I included "pkfuncs.h". When building, I got the error message: "fatal error C1083: Cannot open include file: 'pkfuncs.h': No such file or directory". I assure this include file existed in my platform folder: "D:\Test\WINCE500\Emulator_x86\cesysgen\oak\inc\". Also, when building, I chose the active configuration as "Emulator: x86 Release". Is this a correct assumption? and if so, what is the best way to prevent it from happening? Do I grab the Mutex before starting the watchdog?     - CEPC start application after download, and Platform Manager connec Hello, I tried to run a "hello world" application after I downloaded the OS image to the CEPC. I followed the instructions in "How to Develop an Application for a CEPC". After dowloading image, the "Target/Run Programs..." manual item is still disabled, no matter I detached device or not. I also tried to run debug tools under the "tools" manual. But failed to connect to CEPC even followed the instructions in "Configuring the Connection to a Target Device Using Platform Manager".     - Replacing calibrui in CE 4.2 Alright, so I don't like the documentation's suggestion of "modify the code in the common folders and rebuild" so I'm trying to get GWES to use a replacement calibrui from my platform. However this is turning out to be a bigger pain than I expected. I tried setting the REPLACE_ROOT and GWES_REPLACE_COMPONENTS environment variables, and all it appears to accomplish is making it so my project won't build at all. I've looked through the archives and Steve Maillet seems to have gottenit working and was going to post info on how to actually do this, but I can't locate it if he did.     - wlan country code Hi, I have a 4.2 based device that uses a wireless NIC. This works just ducky here (in the US) on any AP I use. I have a customer in Spain. I know my Intersil based NIC supports EU and J but I don't know how to configure the driver to tell the NIC it is in Spain or in "world mode". I found some information on the net that implies that I might use an ISO 3166 value, in this case 'ES', to tell the NIC that it is operating outside the US. I also found information regarding "world mode". Looking in Ntddndis.h, I see that there are several OIDs. For example, OID_802_11_RX_ANTENNA_SELECTED indicates either or both antennae. I know this is selectable via a registry key (0, 1, or -1) so I assume the country code should also be selectable. However I have not found anything in PB help that specifically shows what keys can be set and their values. Are there registry keys for such configurations?     - Cold boot/Warm boot Hi I want to run an application on cold boot only, there are times when I warm boot the terminal and I don't want this particular application to run. I have tried a number of methods and have not been successful; 1) myapp.exe and myapp.lnk are in the windows directory and I use platform.dat to move myapp.lnk to the startup directory, on a coldboot the application starts up as expected, but it also starts up on a warm boot. 2) removed above changes from platform.dat and put the following in platform.reg "Launch60"="myapp.exe" "Depend60"=hex:1E,00 Again on a cold boot the application runs, but it also runs on a warm boot.     - SOAP Server failing on CE 4.1 We have a headless XScale-based device running Windows CE 4.1. Our PC application communicates with an application on the device using SOAP: the PC is the client and the device is the server. The PC regularly (every second or so) calls a routine on the device to retrieve data (in the form of a string - a BSTR since the interface between the soap server and our application is of course via COM). Our problem is that the device hangs after about two hours. I believe I've eliminated every other possibility - I've replaced the soap server with a simple TCP/IP server which receives a connection from the PC and calls the same routine in the application and it runs forever. When I try it with a debug build and platform builder I get a DEBUGCHK in BSTR.cpp (the source of which I don't have). The thread which fails is in our application's process but is running system code. It appears to be the thread which has just called our method (which is called GetEvents) and is trying to do a SysFreeString. I realise from the description of the bug check that it appears to be in our process somewhere, but as I say it works perfectly if we don't use the Soap server. Does any of this ring a bell with anyone? I don't really want to replace the Soap server (we wanted the device to be soap-compatible) but at the moment I don't seem to have much choice.     - Vmini suspend/resume Hi All! I am working on a Lubbock based platform PXA255 PB4.2 and I am having problems with the suspend/resume and Vmini ethernet driver. When I press suspend, my platform goes to sleep, ethernet chip is hw reset and that's it. After resume I call OEMEtherInit in PmgrResume function. Kernel debugger is then working properly, but TCP/IP is not (DHCP enabled or static address, is all the same). What am I doing wrong? In release version with Ends4Isa ethernet driver suspend/resume works fine, but with Vmini this is not the case.     - Nasty Bug in FileServer for CE 4.2? Hi, I think I've found a nasty bug in the file server package for CE 4.2. I have an application that uses two CEPC systems that are linked together via Ethernet. System A is set up with the file server to share its Compact Flash drive. System B connects to the file server via "net use....etc.". If I copy a file from System B to System A that already exists on System A, and the file being copied from System B is smaller than the file on System A, the result is that the new file has the extra data that was in the old file appended to it. In this application, System B is a headless system and gets its software and data files from System A via the file sharing mechanism. Scrambled files have been a real problem. The work-around is to have the program that does the updating delete the file being updated from the target system before copying the new file. I looked for a place on the MS web site to report a problem with CE 4.2 but all I could find were links to report 4.0, 4.1 and 5.0 problems. I would appreciate a hint on where to take this.     - Confusion about how Platform Builder works I have been working on a WinCE 4.2 application for some time using an SBC that is certified for 4.2. The SBC Vendor has been trying to get an OS working for us, so we would not have to spend the time and money. It is starting to become clear that they cannot get it right. We probably will have to build the OS ourselves. However, I do NOT want to go with WinCE 5.0. As I understand it, when you buy Platform builder, you are setting up a relationship with Microsoft to resell Operating System licenses, and they do not want to do this for 4.2.     - VMini VMini1 PCI RTL81391 I'm using PB 5.0 and a x86 CEPC target that has a RTL8139 PCI NIC installed in it. The PB Windows CE Remote Registry Editor, under HKLM, has these separate keys: a) Comm\PCI\RTL81391\Parms\TCPIP b) TCPIP & TCPIP\Parms c) VMini & VMini\Linkage d) VMini1, VMini1\Parms, & VMini1\Parms\TCPIP On the CEPC, when I go to Start | Settings | Network and Dial-up Connections, I see a VMINI1 icon; doubling clicking it, I see 'Microsoft null Ethernet Miniport Driver' settings. (Which, BTW, agrees with HKLM\VMini's Display Name.) 1. Please explain why, given that there is a RTL8139 PCI NIC, that VMini is being used. 2. Does my OS really need to include RTL8139 from the Catalog (in light of VMini being used). 3. What's with all these keys (a-d above)? For goodness (and simplicity) sake, I just want to set some network parameters (static IP, subnet mask, and default gateway) in the registry and be done with it!     - USB bulk transfer on SM501 Has anyone had problems with bulk transfers on the SM501 USB host controller. I don't know that this is specific to that device, but its the first full OHCI controller I've worked with. I'm working with the mass storage driver and failing on all bulk-out Td's which are greater than the max allowed per buffer. For example, I'm trying to write 512 bytes of data to the device. It should get broken into 64 byte packets on the wire and the Td retired when all 8 packets have gone. If I break the transfer into 8 separate Td's, it goes fine. If I have a single Td, I get an error (Device Not Responding, CC5). I think its on the first buffer since when the error comes in, the Td's current buffer pointer has moved 64 bytes. I don't have a USB analyzer, so no, I haven't checked what's on the wire. I think the retirement of the Td is correct since the error count in the Td has incremented. The Ed looks fine and the max packet size is correctly set to 64. All of the pointers look okay and I don't see an alignment or page issue. Any suggestions ? Tag: Problem about boot loader Tag: 65903

The next step is that I want to create a sources file so that I can add it to my cec file.     - Read My CE 5.0 system has FASL NOR flash. I want to use this to store two copies of the OS image: - One stored on a FAT filesystem so that the file can be updated from within the running CE OS. - One "fallback" stored in certain flash blocks on the device (outside of the filesystem partition). The reasoning behind this is that the OS needs to be remote updatable from the running CE image (this update process can't be done from the bootloader for various reasons). If the remote update fails (power outage etc) then the bootloader will use the "fallback" version of the OS. I've considered maybe using bootpart to create a FAT partition and some other one in the bootloader. The problem is that the bootloader would need to be able to read the alternate OS image from the FAT partition - this doesn't look too difficult given the MS sample FAT code etc, but what I'm worried about is that I'd want to link the FMD with the FAL to implement wear-levelling when writing to the FAT partition from the OS. This means the bootloader would also need to know about wear-levelling, but the FAL code is private. Can I just link my bootloader with the FAL library? Am I going about this the wrong way? Thanks! The RNDIS driver (RNDIS USBFN driver) seems to work OK otherwise (ping, telnet etc.), and the SMB server works OK if I use the ethernet adapter. Obviously, there seems to be some kind of problem with the buffer handling, since the violation happens in the RNDIS function "RndisPrepareRndisPacket" (at line 305 in rndis.c) when copying some ndis buffers.     - CEPC Bootload Errors Just started using WinCE 5.0. Am trying to download and setup a thin client/CEPC on a desktop PC. I have tried via the serial port as well as the ethernet port without any luck. The EBOOT.bin and SBOOT.bin files that are present on the 3 1/2 " bootdisk (created via the CEPC utility) are different in size from the ones in the PBWorkspace\CEPC1 directory (CEPC1 is my thin client workspace). Could someone tell me which version should I be using to boot my target machine? Secondly the connection settings in the documentation and most usergroups for a serial port download suggest COM2. hello,friends:
i want to use MSDOS+LOADCEPC+nk.bin to start WinCE for cepc ,but when
went to about 46% in progress,it got error:

Error Image Section doesn't fit in allocated block
Block allocated at 0x110000,size = 15563104
Section physicalstart = 0x00F3DFB8,size = 4686044

i did as this:
1.format DOC to FAT16 filesystem with Setupdisk.144, Copy NK.bin to DOC
2.Insert floppy disk with cepcboot.144,set bios boot from floppy disk,
in A:," SYS C: " and "COPY *.* C:".
3.restart cepc ,set bios boot from "C"
4.when enter DOS, i use command "loadcepc /v ",it went through until 46% in
progress.

for the NK.bin i use ,i can Start it using Ethernet Bootloader

My Wince version is WinCE.net.

appreciate anyone can help!

How much memory is on the actual CEPC device? How large is the OS Image?
(The output information from the build not the size of the BIN file)

my memory is 256M, and Nk.bin is about 30 M,i have follow the MSDN help to
support more than 64M memory.
