Hi,

I have some problem in the platform.reg file.
I added 2 lines in the platform.reg in the 1st BSP, then created 2nd BSP
(Tiny-kernel). I didn't change anything in and after the "New Platform"
wizard. Then I checked the platform.reg. The 2 lines exist in the 2nd
platform.reg.

I deleted all folders under PBWorkspaces, and tried it again. The problem
still exist.

I don't know if it's a bug of CE 5.0 or I inadvertently changed somewhere in
the Platform Builder. Anybody know this problem, please help.

(CE 5.0 evaluation version)

Thanks in advance.

Ok, so what exactly is the problem? You didn't say, and we sure can't
guess.

My problem is
when I create a new BSP, the platform.reg is not what I want. It contain the
old data from previous BSP's platform.reg.

New Platform - does NOT create a new BSP. it creates a new OS Design
workspace (They forgot to change the IDE menu to match the new terminology;
a minor oversight that can cause MAJOR confusion)

If you want different platform.reg you need to clone the BSP and modify
platform.reg in the new BSP. You can then create a new OS design that uses
that particular BSP or add the BSP to an existing OS design as you see fit.

Hi Steve,
Thanks for your help.
I am still confused. I think when I use : "New Platform..." wizard to
generate a new default CEPC/Tiny-kernel OS design workspace, the PB should
give me a platform.reg file from the Tiny-kernel BSP sample, instead of
copying platform.reg from my previous OS design.

You are confused. It should NOT do that. Again, the menu name should have
been changed as the terminology was confusing and in most other places it
has. Forget that the menu says "New Platform" it SHOULD say "New OS Design".
To get a new platform.reg (Which really should have been renamed BSP.REG but
that's another story...) you need to clone the BSP and modify the reg file.

The confusion stems from the overloaded term "platform" that term over time
has meant the BSP, The OS design or the physical hardware. You can see how
that is easily confusing. So MS decided to drop all references to "Platform"
the only use of the word is part of the term "Hardware platform" meaning the
physical chunk of hardware. This helps to keep clear exactly what people are
talking about.
