I'm having a problem installing Platform Builder 4.2 on XP SP2.

The Error:

Error 1305. Error reading from file
C:\WINCE420\PUBLIC\COMMON\OAK\LIB\ARMV4I\DEBUG\kbd8042jpn1_lib.lib.
Verify that the file exists and that you can access it.

This file is installed by the installer, and is present. I cannot
view or copy the file as the result is a permission denied error. I
can only assume that something is going wrong in the install and
something that is supposed to release a lock on the file still has it
or has crashed half-way through (without giving me an error.)

Has anyone seen this before? It actually shows this file as a file a
file that it is copying when it gives there error.

Brad.

Try to stop your antivirus software or use process explorer
(www.sysinternals.com) to check what application is keeping the file
in use.

Yeah, this happens without a Virus Scanner in use (its been disabled)
and without other applications using it. I've confirmed it with File
Monitor

According to File Monitor, it does the following

QueryInformation : Not Found
Create : Success
Write (Man) : Success
Close : Success
Open: Success
QueryInformation: Success
Delete: Success:
Close: Success
QueryInformation: Not Found

Now it repeats from the top. It does this many times before prompting
the error message that I described above. Has anyone actually
installed Platform Builder 4.2 on an XP SP2 Machine? I hope that I
don't have to re-install to XP, install Platform Builder 4.2 then
upgrade to SP 2.

Regards,
Brad.

I have installed CE4.2 PB on XPSP2 on several computers without problems. I
have heard reports of problems installing 4.2 on a computer that already has
a newer version of CE but I have installed 4.2 after installing 5.0 and 6.0
without any problem (again, on XPSP2).

Thanks for your help, it ended up being a bad Disc 3 which was causing
the problem, there were approx 10 files that couldn't be read from the
disc so it was stuck in a loop (it would copy the file to my disc and
fail here, but would proceed to check the file on disc determine it
was corrupt delete it and restart the whole process.) I ended up
using File Monitor to figure out what the culprit was.

Thank you everyone for your help.
Brad.
