    - Xscale PXA255 CE.NET 4.2: Getting OEMGetExtensionDRAM to work ? I have a custom platform based on Intel PXA255 Xscale processor which is normally shipped with 64Mb of SDRAM. All of the .BIB files are set up to reflect this and the platform is stable using this 64Mb setup. The platform can be expanded with a further 64Mb of SDRAM. Although this is physically contiguous with the standard fit memory, it is necessary that the WinCE image can work on both the 64Mb device, or the 128Mb device. I am trying to implement the OEMGetExtensionDRAM() to inform the kernel of the existence of the (tested as working) extra 64Mb, if it is present. It would appear that a DataAbort exception is being generated.     - Incredible problem with RAS functions and Windows CE.NET Hi. I've programmed an application on a Windows CE.NET platform that creates a RAS entry and dials it. The application works fine but there's something strange in the registry : In the RAS registry settings, in the "Entry" value, I can see some data that I output on screen with printf... Incredible, isn't it ? But these junk data don't seem to disturb the RAS dialing...     - Does any know how to use touch panel click to Emulate mouse right click action under Terminal Service Client? Dear All: Any clue about how to implement a Emulation action for touch panel click as right click action. Because the Terminal Service Client wouldn't recognize the action, I have to use USB mouse to do that. After a while, the properties tab popped up. The action should be working over the Terminal Service Client (mstsc), unfortunatelly, it won't work. Then I hooked up a USB mouse. Mouse right click works? I just wondering only mstsc translates the real action (mouse right click), not the emulation action (touch panel click). ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- - So, do I have to modify the mstsc source code or touch panel driver to make it work?     - Platform Builder - Where to get? Although I've been a C++ developer for over 10 years, I'm new to CE development. The company I work for has many CE devices and little support from the vendor who installed these devices. Therefore, I have been charged with the responsibility to make sense of them and figure out how to maintain and develop for them from here on out. I have installed eMbedded C++ 3.0 and 4.0 and tested both with a simple test app. However, I see references everywhere to Project Builder. Apparently, I need Project Builder 3.0 before I can install ADOCE on my dev box. It didn't get installed with the other dev tools. Where do I get it? I don't see it anywhere in our MSDN subscr. Also, the immediate need I have for ADOCE is to be able to pull/convert a .cdb file from the device to .mdb, change one of it's values and push/convert it back to the device.     - start-up creating of virtual LPT2: port from USB prn Hello experts, here is the question on CE 4.1. The scenarion in short is this. A customer has Windows CE 4.1 based device with USB port. The image we build for them contains all drivers to support that port. Customer conencts a USB printer to this USB port. Then after a few seconds CE creates a virtual LPT2: port for this USB printer. Customer then uses a control panel and adds a new printer, as a parallel printer connected to LTP2: port. And then saves settings into persistent registry on flash disk. All works fine so far. Good ! Now customer turns the power off on the device. The USB printer is still connected. Then next day customer turns power on back on the devices and it boots up into CE. However, it was found that LPT2: virtual port isn't created ! Further, it was found that if a customer disconnects a USB printer and then reconnects it back, then, after a few seconds CE does create back again the virtual LPT2: port for this printer. My question is that : how do we ask CE to create virtual LPT2: on startup, if a USB printer is detected connected and up ? Is that possible at all or not - I cannot get definite information from the documentation. We need to know this to tell customer that, say, USB printers aren't supported after reboot or so. PS.     - Iphlpapi.dll and iptypes.h not included with iphlpapi.dll Hi all, I'm trying to use IP helper functions in my application. I copied the IP helper code samples in my application file and put iphlpapi.dll in the object/library modules section of the link tab of my project settings. I built the platform without the code samples first and checked with viewbin.exe to see that iphlpapi.dll exists in my image. Then I built my application with the code samples. However, I received many error messages regarding the IP helper APIs and structures such as GetNetworkParams, FIXED_INFO, etc. Iphlpapi.h includes iptypes.h, and they both exist in my platform directory (WINCEROOT\Public\MyPlatform\WINCE420\Icop_Vortex86\cesysgen\sdk\inc .     - Launch application at startup Hi all, I want my application be launched and running at startup of Windows CE. To provide this I added the following to my platform.reg file: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Init] "Launch60"="myapp.exe" "Depend60"=hex:1E,00,32,00 My application starts with a password screen. Username and password are entered and when OK is pressed these are checked from a user database which resides on a permanent storage folder. If they are correct a splash screen is shown and the application is started. With these registry settings the password dialog is shown, but when I enter the username and password and press OK, the following message box is displayed: 60 was not found. What is the reason for this? The password dialog is displayed so InitInstance is called for my app, but password check cannot be done. Do I need to check something else for the database? Hi, Although I already successfully build and run XIP/demange pages on WinCE .NET 4.2, I need change the setting in common.bib. It is because I need to put some kernel files into one kernel Bin File. However, it is not convenient for team work because we only put the platform files into SourceSafe. Hello, We have two CompactFlash interfaces in our design - one internal to the box (that will have a storage card permanently in it), and the other external (that will sometimes have a storage card (using ATADISK) but will also support IO cards of various types. My question is this. Is it possible to configure this system such that the internal CompactFlash uses TFAT, but the external CompactFlash uses "normal" FAT? Ideally, I'd rather use TFAT in both instances, but I understand there are interoperability issues with TFAT and desktop windows OSes. Hence I'd prefer to stick with FAT for the external slot, since our users will be regularly transferring data to PCs via cards inserted in that slot. The GDIINFO structure seems to have changed from WinCE 4.x and below by adding a field named "flShadeBlendCaps" between flTextCaps and ulDACRed fields. This makes all existing printer drivers developed for Windows CE 2.1 through 4.2 incompatible with CE 5.0. The addition isn't mentioned in the documentation that is included with PB5, nor is it shown in MSDN (it shows the previous definition of the data structure).     - Windows Zero Config and a Cisco LMC352 Hi All, I have a Cisco LMC352 conneccted to a device running Windows CE .NET 4.2 on a MIPS II processor. The Wireless network works first time it is configured. If I save the registry then restart the board then the configured wireless network can not be connected to. Windows Zero config displays trying to connect to Adhoc network. My PC shows that it is connected to an unknown network, the Windows CE zero config dialog shows that it is connected to an Adhoc network but that Signal strength shows "No Signal". I have searched this newsgroup for any hints on what could be the problem and I have tried previous solutions, such as setting the Registry key "MasterKeysInRegistry" to 1. If I reboot the device, disable the WiFi card in the NetUI and delete the Zero Config registry keys then reenable the WiFi Card, Zero Config allows me to reenter the network details and make a new connection. Is there any way of setting up Zero Config so that it can reload the network configuration on startup or will I have to write some code to emulate the disable/enable of the wifi card and the deleting of the registry keys? And this is what happens if I take the cflash out and put it back in: www.sp0rk.clara.net/outthenin.TXT Observed responses: The system takes 20-30 seconds longer than "usual" to start if I have PCMCIA built into the nk.bin image. Each time i put the cflash in, there is a 20 second hang. On startup it says onscreen "Unidentified PCCard Adapter: Enter the name of the driver for this PCCard". The yellow light on my PCMCIA adapter comes on, so I can see the OS is talking to it at least a little. However, no cflash drive appears & no "eject" icon or anything appears. My hardware is: Kontron DIMM-PC/520-i with topro VGA & Ricoh RF5C296 Single slot (PCMCIA 2.1 compliant) (BUS Type: ISA), living on IRQ 15 for some reason, at the default IO address (according to Windows NT winmsd - the hardware works fine under NT). As far as I can see I've correctly configured the registry (I can post the config if required - I just changed SysIntr to 1f and Irq to F) The cflash itself is ?SanDisk-SDP-0DBF? I think.     - Platform configuration questions Hi, I have some questions about the configuration of my platform: 1. I want to add a menu to my application from where a user can assign a static IP address to the CEPC and connect this device to a LAN. I'm not using hive-based registry so any modification I make from the control panel disappears on a power off. I want to by-pass using control panel by using my own menu and saving the assigned values in a settings file to use each time the platform is booted. How can I programmatically do this? Which APIs should I use? (or which keyword combination for google :) 2. I don't want the user to access various folders of my platform. Basically the user shouldn't go further than the desktop, but some folders containing settings files are more important. How can I set permissions to these folders? Do they permanently remain disabled for the user, or will I have to set permissions each time a folder i created? Besides I might show the contents of a disabled folder from my application so that the user can navigate between files. Is this possible if a user access is not valid for that folder?     - Wince.net 4.2 image configuration Hi At the moment we are having to generate a number of images; 1) One that contains Internet Explorer, and has a shortcut on the desktop and the start menu. 2) One that doesn't have IE but as Pocket Word and a shortcut on the desktop, and autostarts on a coldboot The list goes on. What I want to do is generate an image that has all features included IE, WORD etc... I can build an image that fits into the ROM 32MB that we have. I would then like to run an application or control panel applet that would allow me to configure options such as put the WORD shortcut on the desktop and the start menu. Or launch IE on a coldboot.     - usb mass storage class Hi, all, Can you give me a hand in the usb mass storage class driver? I have a Philips ISP1160 USB host on an Intel PXA25x custom board. I used the drive from Philips and it works well with USB keyboard, USB mouse and USB hubs. But I have problems with the Lexar 256MB Jumpdrive. I can see that the USBMSC.dll and USBDISK6.dll loaded. But I can't see any new folder at the Windows Explorer. Why is that? I searched the previous post and found that I don't have "FSD"="UDFS.DLL" in the registry [HKLM\Drivers\USB\ClientDrivers\Mass_Storage_Class\2] and "FSD"="FATFS.DLL" in the [HKLM\Drivers\USB\ClientDrivers\Mass_Storage_Class\6] in the registry.     - Debugging a multi-threaded application Hi, The platform and tools involved here are CE 4.2 running on a CEPC and eVC++ 4.00 for program development and debugging. This is a result of further testing on the problem in my previous post. I created a small project with two very simple threads. The main process creates a second thread which simply loops through incrementing a counter and sleep for 100 ms. The main thread is in a loop with a 100 ms. sleep. If I put a break point in the main thread and begin stepping through the loop, the second thread stops executing. I can see this because the counter value no longer increments. If I resume the main thread for a few seconds and then break it again I can see that the counter has been incremented. I sincerely hope this is a problem that can be fixed if I apply all the QFE's to my platform. If not, the platform is essentially useless to us. We do real-time machine control and our applications depend heavily on multi-thread processes. Debugging these applications will be next to impossible if all threads stop when one reaches a break point. We have no problem doing this type of thing with CE 3.00. Suggestions are welcome!     - Bluetooth Printing in CE4.1 I'm potentially going to be asked to work on a driver for a bluetooth printer for a device running CE4.1. I haven't worked with Bluetooth or printers previously, and I'd appreciate any insight anybody could provide. At this point, I don't know what the target printer(s) will be, or what interface(s) they support. - My understanding is that bluetooth printing would typically take place across a bluetooth serial connection, is that correct? Are there other bluetooth printing interfaces that would be supported in a CE environment? - I believe CE ships a PCL driver, so if the target printer supports PCL then the driver portion is complete. The exercise would be getting it to work across the bluetooth interface. How is this normally accomplished? - It looks like the Bluetooth stack has been enhanced in 4.2, what issues am I likely to run into with a device running 4.1 with respect to Bluetooth communications?     - ATADISK.dll does not load with the image in CE 4.2 Hello , I am using the Windows CE 4.2 with a Geode based board from Advantec. The board is SOM-4450F. I am able to create a new bsp and download and boot the image but am not able to see my Compact Flash card. I am trying to work with a headless image and it seems that when the image boots up , the PCMCIA driver gets unloaded.     - Interrupt Being Disabled while Debugging? Hi, I'm in the process of porting our machine control code from CE 3.00 to CE 4.2. Our platform is a CEPC.One of our modules is an ActiveX object that provides control of servo motors. This object, when created, sets up an interrupt service thread that handles communication between the CEPC and the Servo hardware via dual port RAM. On the 3.00 platform, we could debug through the application program that creates the instance of the ActiveX object with no problem. With the 4.2 platform, it appears that the interrupt is being held off whenever a break point in the application is encountered. Any suggestions as to what might be causing this? I've tried the testing on two systems to try to eliminate hardware, but both exhibit the same problem. Both the 3.00 and 4.2 systems use platforms we built. There are only small differences between these platforms and the "Standard" CEPC platform. The hardware is identical on both systems. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!     - Weird Problem: Duplicate Registry Entries for RTL8139 Hi Folks, We're having a problem with our 4.2 system that has left me scratching my head. Here is the problem as detailed by our apps engineer who found the issue: "I've been testing the IP Adapter problem this morning, and as we theorized last night, every time I move the DiskOnChip from an old rev Lanner to a new rev one, and back, it (WinCE) adds an adapter and increments the instance ID (in the registry). And it does the same thing if I move it from the new back to the old Lanner board. Old Lanner: RTL81391 New Lanner: RTL81392 Old Lanner: RTL81393 : New Lanner: RTL81398 Old Lanner: RTL81399 The interesting thing, is that once it gets to ...9, if I put it in a different Lanner rev, it CAN'T increment the instance number, and CE isn't able to specify an IP adapter; i.e. NO Network access (the little network icon on the taskbar isn't even there, and there isn't one in the Control Panel." Note: there are ONLY two boards with fixed (soldered on the board) RTL8139 Ethernet chips. I've looked in the QFE's and can't find anything that specifically addresses this issue. I have made a build in Wince 5.0 RTM build for the x86 based platform. When
i click on the PageSetup menu from IE, nothing happens. The debug version
throws an GWES.exe exception. I tried with the emualtor version also by
choosing the WebPad configuration.no luck.

could anybody help me with this?
