hi,
We found few bugs in the WinCE5.0 version.
and we wanted to report this to microsoft and expect a solution from them.
when we tried to contact them ,they told us to go to product support group.
its little funny as to mistakes done by microsoft is to be paid by customers.
i agree if we need new feature in our product we must pay.But any
drivers/apps mistakes done by microsoft should be charged from customers.
is there any better way to contact on these issues.is there any bug
tracking/reporting system apart from this group.

Bugs:
1.
file copy/paste ,during the operation cancel copy and u will see full size
copied. but data is invalid.
2.
SD card slow detach functionality and music play has lag.
3.
USB client -if disconnect activesync on device , activesync doesnt
disconnect at PC side.We tried to have solution, but that causes the
activesync data transfer to be very slow.
4.
if use NOP US KEYBOARD AND have your own kepad driver for PXA27x ,we
cannot set the key repeat rate and key repeat disable in the keyboard applet.
5.
USB data transfer is 4 times slower than that of magneto5.0 ,using same
hardware.
6.
on installing the new QFE's for datasync now we can back up but cant
restore using activesync USB or IRDA.
if try to restore using USB or IRDA we get error message at PC side
ActiveSync Restore -> Get error message Restoreï¼?Unrecoverable Error
and repplog at device side disconnects.
7.
cant use transcriber if using US english if try to install the component ,it
adds german transcriber. the reason is for this we need english language
support , but NLS is selected because we need other components which needs
NLS like IE,MP3,SDK etc .
so at the end its a cat-mouse game . and once we build using the same ,the
sytem never boots up.
how can we include transcriber functionality in our OS?????

8.
when we use small screens , some of the control panel applets are build for
large screen , we had to explicitly modify the resolution.but as i understand
microsoft already took care of this. for example if u set password ,on wake
up the password applet will be for big screen.

there are few more problems we are facing but would like these first to
report.
its kind of difficult to ship the product at time if such things continously
happens from MSFT side. how are we reducing time to market?????
pls if any one of u can discuss or have some comments on these problems ,it
would be highly appreciated.
Thank you for your time.

Regards
Umesh

In order to get a fix it MUST go through support. If it's really a bug then
they refund the incident. I have never had any issues with them refunding it
for myself nor any of my customers or clients that have contacted them with
an issue.

I completely agree with Steve. Every bug we have found and reported as
an incident has been fixed in a following QFE or version. Microsoft
has refunded the incident cost. Yes, its annoying to have to
temporarily pay money to report a bug but there is a lot "bugs" that
get reported that are simply folks not doing good enough due
dilligence.

Regarding time to market - CE does a great deal to expedite this but
the system designer still must to the hard work of wringing out issues
to make a commercial grade product. Dismiss any illusions of clicking
a few checkboxes in a platform builder wizard and having a system
generated that is ready for market.

And I'll further point out that a number of issues you've listed as bugs
look to me like problems in your BSP. Don't be too quick to blame all your
problems on MS, there is a great deal of effort required on your part.
Remember, you are customizing and building the operating system for custom
hardware. If you want a software package that works out of the box, you
need to stick with XPe and X86.
