    - HELP: using net command with XP shared folder. Strange TCP/IP behavior. Hello to all NG, specially to Paul that in old posts has give some suggests to similar problems. I've this situation: WinCE 4.2 on PXA255 with bluetooth dongle and TCP/IP services installed, without any Wi-Fi or ethernet device. First step: I've to map a network share on a desktop PC running 2000/XP or 2003 and Microsoft/Widcomm bluetooth stack. On WinCE I'm able to discovery BT devices, map SPP port of my XP desktop PC, create a new dial-up connection that use the mapped virtual COM port (set VCOM parameters as 115200,N,8,1), create on XP desktop PC an new incoming connection (RAS and Routing service is enabled automatically by OS) using COM6 (the BT incoming port on desktop PC) and connect WinCE. The connection works fine, XP desktop PC gives a qualified IP to WinCE (from the range specified on TCP/IP properties of Incoming Connection profile) and from WinCE I can ping XP desktop PC either via IP number (192.168.0.100) either via name (as desktop but also as desktop.fulldomain.org). Then I try net view \\desktop and after credentials window it works When I try net view \\desktop.fulldomain.org it gives error 87 "net use \\desktop\shared local" works fine and I exchange files. Why using extended domain name I get error 87? However if I ping server or desktop2 I get bad ip address. Only if I use full domain name, as server.fulldomain.org or desktop2.fulldomain.org, ping works fine (in my network I've a DNS server and XP RAS pass to WinCE this DNS Server IP address). Second step: the shared folder is on a server in the network, but WinCE must use the dialup connection with the nearest desktop PC (BT range is 15 meters and I can't plug the BT dongle on the server, why it's very far from WinCE device) that is connected via ethernet cable to the same server network. The problem now, once connected via dial-up with XP desktop PC, is that from WinCE I can ping the server using its IP address or full domain name, but if I try to use ping server or net view \\server or net view \\server.fulldomain.org it doesn't work and return error 87. What does error 87 means? Every other tool that use TCP/IP (ping, tracert, route) using full domain name is working fine, also internet explorer with http is working fine with full domain names. How does "net" command translate the name of the XP desktop PC? It seems that it doesn't use DNS server settings but tries another way to translate the name in IP address but without success. Do I need a WINS server in my network that translate the names for WinCE device, and specify WINS address into TCP/IP setting of dialup profile? Why net view/use works only with the shared folders of the desktop PC that WinCE dial-in, but I can access full network trought the same desktop PC? It seems that problem is not at TCP/IP level, but at "Folder and Printers sharing" service, or in the way that net command tries to resolve name. Why I can use net view \\desktop with success and net view \\desktop.fulldomain.org doesn't works? However \\desktop and \\desktop.fulldomain.org are translated to the same IP address by DNS server, so it really seems that net command doesn't use DNS then! What kind of mechanism does net command use for translating names? P.S.: net view \\ppp_peer return error 53, but ping ppp_peer works fine. Anybody can give me any suggest?     - Install File System Development Hi, I'm trying to make a private IFS in WinCE, and working with Platform Builder in emulated environment with RamDisk. I have successfully implemented a null file system and have verified that the MyFSD.dll was loaded and unloaded. But after that, I have tried to implement some of the functions that FSD should provide for FSD Manager. Two of them, MyFSD_MountDisk() and MyFSD_UnmountDisk were implemented and the .def file was properly modified for FSDMGR to know that. (below) EXPORTS MyFSD_MountDisk MyFSD_UnmountDisk FSD_MountDisk=MyFSD_MountDisk FSD_UnmountDisk=MyFSD_UnmountDisk MyFSD_... ....... After the implementation of the above, I was trying to see if the IFS was properly mounted, but found that the function MyFSD_MountDisk() was never called. DllMain() was called twice - DLL_PROCESS_ATTACH, DLL_PROCESS_DETACH. It was unloaded just after it was loaded. Does anyone can tell me any clue or suggestion?     - OTG driver in PXA27x mainstone III DVK Hi, I am using Mainstone III DVK for developement and found that there are 2 USB OTG ports. However, I can't see any OTG driver/components in catalog.     - Question about Virtual memory limitations in WinCE Hi, While I was going through the code for the bootloader, it was mentioned that the virtual memory cannot be more than 512MB. Is this limitation because of winCE, which can handle only a maximum of 512MB physical memory. Or does it have any other reason? If we have to increase this limit, is there any possible way to do it.     - invalid handle returned from SD API Hi, I am trying to develop a SDIO device driver using Evc++. The target device is an imate PPC. I am not using platform builder, as i am not to use a development board, but just write a driver for the PPC device which has an OS already. My device has an SDBusdriver.dll So i am thinking that i should develop a host controller driver and a client driver. Initially i am doing an SD card Client Driver and will try to modify it from there.( Dont know if this is a good way to proceed) I am currently modifying the registry in the HKLM/Drivers/...../SDMemory_Class to replace the existing sdmemory.dll client driver with my own SD card driver called MySD.dll. I encountered the following problem in my driver code. in the xxx_init, i have called the SDGetDeviceHandle(param1,param2) API. I get the HKLM/...../SDMemory_Class path in the param2 variable and got a value for the handle returned by the API. I used the Remote tools from EVC++ and in remote registry editor i checked the active list of drivers. It showed one subkey as 'Hnd' and onemore subkey as 'ClientInfo'. The handle value got from the API is the same as the value in ClientInfo and not the one in Hnd.I expected the value to be the one in 'Hnd' and not the one in 'ClientInfo'. Is this a problem? if so how to correct it? Next, i called the SDRegisterClient(...) API with the handle returned by the SDGetDeviceHandle API as one of the parameters to SDRegisterClient. But this is causing an error, and the error code is 0xC0000006. I understand that this status implies an INVALID HANDLE. However, since the SDGetDeviceHandle API returned me the correct registry path, i think the handle must also be correct. I cant understand why the handle is invalid.     - Bad response from PB to serial BOOTME request We're trying to implement a CE 5.0 serial bootloader for an ARM7-based target (we have no Ethernet and no USB). When trying to connect with PB, the target is reporting "received non-download packet type". A dump of the the received packet shows that the pktType field is 0xAA (KS_PKT_KITL). This is not one of the 3 packet types that RecvPacket() is expecting. All PB is doing is spitting out the following messages: The Kernel Debugger is waiting to connect with target. The Kernel Debugger has been disconnected successfully. What going on? Thanks, Scott Background info: Target CPU is an ARM7 in a custom ASIC. We are currently loading the code through a JTAG debugger. There is currently no way to flash the code on the board right now. The current target is a temporary interim device until our real target board is available. We've modified the CEPC SBOOT code to work with our hardware and have verified that the serial send and receive functions work. Debug messages (EdbgOutputDebugString(), etc.) are being routed throught the ARM7 DCC port using the semihosting support in our debugger. We're at the step where we're told to simply "Download the Eboot.bin file." Nowhere are we told how to accomplish this -- apparently newbies are just supposed to "magically know" how to do all of these things. We're assuming that PB's Target->Attach Device is the correct thing to do. PB's Target->Connectivity Options are set to Download=Serial, Transport=Serial, Debugger=KdStud (it defaulted that way and we haven't changed it). The serial settings for both Download and Transport match what our target is doing. The instructions so far have said to build the bootloader code using "build -c" command line. I've created a dummy project in PB using our platform that we created by cloning (since PB's Target->Attach Device menu item is grayed out unless you have a project open). Since there doesn't appear to be any way to change the location or name of the file being downloaded, we copied and renamed the test .bin file produced by "build -c" to the place PB wants to find it. The project has not been built since it won't (we're not that far along yet -- still trying to get the bootloader working).     - Launch address of image Is the launch (start) address stored anywhere inside the image? I can derive things like physical start address an and size from the info in the stored image's TOC but I can't find where the launch address is stored. I know its available in the bin file as I can see it with the viewbin utility. I would like my bootloader to pull this info from a stored flash image. Is it possible?     - How to disable Wireless Zero Config On our WinCE 5.0 platform, we have a PCMCIA (actually CF) Prism2-based WiFi card. The built-in ISLP2 driver works fine with WZC, but we have our own WiFi connection manager that we would prefer to use. But if I disable WZC by unchecking its "Use Windows to configure my wireless settings" checkbox, my card doesn't seem to associate with AP's or get an IP, even though NDIS calls seem to indicate that I *am* associated nicely. If I enable WCZ, let it perform an initial association, and then disable it, then everything is good and my own wireless manager can happily associate and disssociate with AP's. Ideally, I would love to to totally remove WZC. But if I can't, then I would like it to be totally invisibile and unobtrusive. For development reasons I would like to use a CEPC with 1GB RAM (I know this is not supported by Windows CE so I would like to use 512MB of the 1GB > only for development).     - CESH/Remote Tools and Account Permissions Hi, My Windows account is not an administrator, but rather a user. When I try to run any of the remote tools (remote registry editor for example) I get the following error: "The CESH Server for Windows CE reported the following error: Unable to establish a connection with the device. Please check server configuration settings." The error does not occur if I log into my machine using the administrator account. So I assume it is a permissions/privilege problem. Does anyone know what permissions/privileges need to change in order for the remote tools to work? I'm using CE5. Thanks, Chris P.S.     - Viewing the catalog database In my \WINCE500\PUBLIC\COMMON\OAK\CATALOG\DATABASE directory I have two databases: pbdb.mdb and base_pddb.mdb. I assume that they contain the various list of SYSGEN's and corresponding descriptions. I would like to compile a list of these descriptions, but I can't open the database because it's password protected. (I don't know why it needs a password, but that's not the point of my post.) I can get a SYSGEN list from a command prompt, and I can get a list of component descriptions from the platform .log file, but there's nowhere that I can think of where I can get a list of corresponding SYSGEN's *and* their descriptions. Could someone who knows the DB password please email it to me? Or send me a way to extract the data from the DB? It would be much appreciated, and I would feel better about doing it this way than using one of the many Access password "recovery" tools out there. Best regards, Dan.     - Touch screen problem in CE50 I have installed DMC touch screen (TSC-10 USB controller) into evalue 5410 x86 PC with CE4.2 and it works fine. When I do the same (with updated driver from touchbase) in CE50 in evalue 3512 or 5510 it does not work USB mass storage, USB to serial converter and USB mouse works so USB drivers and functions are available in CE50 When I connect same touch screen device into CE42 PC it works, so touch screen HW and USB interface works Remote process viewer shows that device.exe loads TBUPDDCE.DLL at boot time and TBUPDDCEUSB.DLL when I connect the touch screen and unloads it when I disconnect the touch screen Everything looks good but there is no response for touching display in CE50 ????? Once from 0x30000000 to 0x80000000 and one is direct mapping. Is it mandatory to map this memory twice. If so, what is the reason. From platform builder documnetation it sees that function CardMapWindow is obselete.If this function is obselete which function I have to use? Is it CardMapWindowPhysical?     - Network issue windows CE 4.2 We have a custom platform very closely related to CEPC that has been in production and working well for some time now. It uses CE 4.2 and has QFEs up to and including Dec '05 applied. What we have discovered in our lab is that if the system is left idle for a long period of time (probably greater than one day) network connectivity is lost. Under the failure mode we can still "ping" the system but we are unable to use FTP or connect any of the TCP/IP devices that are peripheral to the main system. Note that even during the idle time our networked peripherals use a "keep alive" to test for the presence of the server. Also, in the failure mode the peripheral devices eventually (by design) attempt to BootP to resolve their loss of connectivity and this BootP also fails. The BootP server is on the CE device.     - CETK Ellipse/RoundRect Has anyone had problems and resolved them in the CETK gdiapi tests for Ellipse (205) and RoundRect(215) in CE 5.0 ? I know they accept a percentage error, but I thought that if EmulateLine drew both copies, they would always be the same. My pxa255-based 5-6-5 16-bpp driver is failing about every third time on ~4 pixels which is above the .005% error for quater vga.     - .net CE vs WM determination Perhaps this is a question for another group, but I'll start here. I have a CE 5.0 based unit which I was trying out the sample .net cf v2.0 solution, sliderpuzzle, which MS has out on the .NET CF site. When I compiled and deployed, I selected PocketPC 2003 as my system to deploy to and it used the activesync connection to put down the project files (the .exe and .jpeg needed for the project) and then put down system_SR_enu_wm.cab into \windows and tried to install the .cab file. Problem is the _wm .cab file is evidently for windows mobile. There was a non-_wm version which I manually copied to the unit and installed fine. Once the file was installed, VS2005 didn't try to reinstall it, and therefore the deployment worked with zero errors. What I'd like to know is how to get VS2005 to choose the correct file in the first place. Its not a windows mobile device and I didn't choose a windows mobile device to deploy to (at least it wasn't labeled that).     - Trouble in Multi-Master I2C on PXA27X Dear Sir, I use PXA27X and WINCE 5.0 to develop my project. In my HW design, system have 2 I2C-Master device and 3 I2C-Slave device. I2C-Master : PXA27X , Charger IC I2C-Slave : Microprocessor x 2 , Battery IC In Bootloader , I enable I2C and let bootloader go into a loop. In the loop , I send I2C command to Microprocessor forever. After a long test , the I2C will hang up and SCL pull High , SDA pull Low. I try to re-init the PXA27X I2C Mudule , but SCL still pull High , SDA still pull Low. I guess the I2C collision between PXA27X and Charger IC. How should I do ? ~~>_<~~ The following is my I2C code.     - Bug in physmem.c? Hello experts This is not an easy one... My system crashes and I found that this is due to an error in physmem.c. Maybe someone can confirm this to be a bug or someone can tell me what am I doing wrong. My system has RAM from 0x30000000 to 0x31000000 and from 0x40000000 to 0x41000000. GetContiguousPages gets called with parameters (1,0,0) and as a result in pfi it gets the following values: pfi->paStart = 0x31000000 pfi->paEnd = 0x31000000 pfi->paRealEnd = 0x31000000 pfi->pUseMap = 0x81000000 This leads to ixTotal = 0. There is no memory at 0x31000000, so this may be correct, but the following loop for (ixStart = 0; ixStart <= (ixTotal - dwPages); ) { is now an endless loop (with dwPages=1), because all variables are declared as uint!!! The next thing I see is that when ixStart=0x7ff, the loop calls Phys2Virt with an address of 0x317ff000, which gives NULL, because this is not a valid address. Anyway GetContiguousPages doesn't test the result for NULL and calls KCall with this invalid address. The system halts and KCall doesn't come back! It sometimes happens when i give the terminal a static ip and then reboot it , it is impossible to change the ip again. only by defaulting it i can change it again. i tryed removing the zeroconfig out of my register but that also did not help. hopefully any of you users have any idea.     - Daylight Savings Time in 2007 not working I am in the process of modifying the registry to test out the daylight savings time changes for 2007 on a CE5.0 device, and have come across a bit of a snag. The functionality doesnâ??t appear to work correctly unless you have the wDay set to either 1 or 5 (i.e. first or last) in the TZI structure. Which means that entering in to Daylight savings time will not be handled correctly. Further digging showed that DST_DetermineChangeDate function in \PRIVATE\SERVERS\TIMESVC2\DST\dst.cpp only supports FIRST_OF_MONTH and LAST_OF_MONTH. So unfortunately, it looks to me like dst.cpp will need to be changed to account for the DaylightDate of the second Sunday in March. Iâ??m hoping this will come in the way of a QFE, but just wanted to let people know that if they are going to try to implement this now for future deployment, it does not work correctly.     - XIP not working Hello, I'm working on XIP on a Mainstone II-like board. It has 32MB of Strataflash NOR FLASH memory and 64MB of RAM. The Windows CE 5.0 image was designed to create a sort of PDA (LCD, touch, bluetooth..) Here you can find 3 different image boot configurations. Config number 3 (XIP) does not work. 1) If I create an image for RAM execution, my CONFIG:BIB contains: NK 80100000 03000000 RAMIMAGE RAM 83100000 00F00000 RAM AUTOSIZE=ON (no ROMOFFSET) The bootloader reports ImageStart = 8010_0000 and Start Address = 8010_1000 The image downloads via LAN to RAM and runs ok. 2) If I create an image for RAM execution and FLASH storage: NK 80100000 03000000 RAMIMAGE RAM 83100000 00F00000 RAM AUTOSIZE=ON ROMOFFSET=3C980000 The bootloader reports ImageStart = BCA8_0000 and Start Address = BCA8_1000 The image downloads via LAN to RAM and FLASHes ok. It runs ok, after a copy from FLASH to RAM and a launch to the RAM Start address. 3) If I create an image for FLASH execution (XIP): NK BCA80000 01F00000 RAMIMAGE RAM 80100000 03F00000 RAM AUTOSIZE = OFF (no ROMOFFSET) The bootloader reports ImageStart = BCA8_0000 and Start Address = BCA8_1000 The image downloads from the LAN to RAM and FLASHes ok. **** It hangs after the launch to BCA8_1000, without any debug message!     - TCP/IP via Bluetooth in WinCE500 Hello, we are using a Kontron ETX P3T x86 System mit Windows CE 5.0. To get a TCP/IP connection between this system and a Pocket PC running we tried to use an USB Bluetooth Adapter with Ethernet profile but didn't get this thing running. Because the WinCE system is usually used without monitor and keyboard attached the Pocket PC should be able to connect to our WinCE system and establish a TPC/IP connection. We added the Microsoft Bluetooth stack from the Platform builder and got the Linksys USB Bluetooth adapter running so that the Pocket PC can find the device with its given name. The problem is that everytime the Pocket PC (or any other Bluetooth client) tries to connect to the WinCE box the connnection fails with the message that no services are available.     - Bootloader for Da Vinci hi, I am currently into the development of wince 5.0 bootloader for da vinci processor.But since i am not using the platform builder i used all the including the EBOOT files from wince500.I am using the CCS(Code composer studio) to load my file into the ram In this case i sucessfully initialize the uart and emac controller also i am allocating static ip to the board.Now during the single stepping mode I send the bootme packet ,in my platform builder on host PC i am able to recognise the target device but thats all, after that I am stuck and not able to established the TFTP link and just be inside the loop.when i see the memory location of my buffer where data from net occurs i see that the data is not for my IP and thsi msg i always get. Can anybody help me in the sense that I want kn ow if there is any activity from platform builder side when it recognises the bootme packet and get to know the device on the net,this i need to know because when i see into ethereal i cannot see any data comming from the platform builder PC Please help me into this as I cannot proceed any further.     - USB-WiFi Device not recognized!!! Hi All, I purchased LinkSys WUSB54G from LinkSys to use in our project but WinCE 5.0 didn't recognize it. I added Wireless LAN(802.11) STA- Automatic Configuration, Native Wi-Fi WLAN AP components, and STA from Platform Builder. Folks,

We have a handheld device with no keyboard, there's 1 5-way toggle & volume
buttons, we also have Media Player 9 as part of the OS image.

If we switch MediaPlayer to play in "Full Screen" mode, it appears that we
have no way of "escaping" out of it without cold booting the device.

Is this expected behaviour or did we miss something and there is a way to
get out of full screen mode ?
