Are the QFEs necessary? Is installing them preferred? It seems significant changes have
been made. If somebody is supplying me code, should I expect it to work properly with all
QFEs installed, or none installed?

They're bug fixes to the operating system. Do you install the Windows XP
updates? We can't guess whether the application developers testing against
QFE-ed operating systems or not; you'll have to ask them. I usually want as
few known bugs in my devices as I can get!

So then it's even more important if somebody is providing me with the BSP for my device,
yes?

If you use a MS-supplied BSP, there will probably also be a small number of
BSP fixes, as well as global fixes, so it's probably a tiny bit
less-important for the case where you get your BSP from some third-party,
but the vast majority of fixes are to the OS, not to specific BSPs.

Thanks for the information. For the x86, the annoying QFE is March, where they added a
new element to a structure KITL uses - in the middle of the structure, rather than at the
end, where it wouldn't have broken existing code.
