    - Licensing question I've got a MS document named "New runtime licensing model for Windows CE.NET 4.2" that describes the various licensing options. What confuses me is that the core license includes the "Standard Shell" component but not the "AYGShell API Set". In PB 4.2 I can't select the "Standard Shell" component without also adding "AYSShell API Set" due to component dependencies. This seems contradictionary to me. Hi, I have a Sandgate platform using PXA255 processor.In the driver for USB of wince.net 4.2, I find that it does nothing for Sandgate's USB Cable event,but handles the USB Cable event of LUBBOCK. And the driver for Sandgate in my device can't work well. Why? Does the wince.net 4.2 not support Sandgate? If so ,what should I do to modify the source code.     - CESH opcodes - WinCE420 Hi, I am working on updating a WinCE212 platform to WinCE420. On the old platform, CESH/PPFS was never operational. However, there is a requirement to have CESH/PPFS working under WinCE420. The custom hardware has a dedicated debug parallel port (it's old hardware--before debugging over ethernet was common!), which is to be used for CESH/PPFS. Using CESH on the desktop PC, I can download a new kernel to the hardware. I have a basic kernel up and running, and can see the scheduler ticking over nicely, by probing the hardware using a scope. The shell.exe also starts up. However, the target device starts to requests files from the desktop PC using CESH/PPFS. This is where a problems begins. The desktop's CESH reports: C:\WinCE420\PLATFORM\Boromir\Release>cesh cesh.exe - NK FileServer for NT Version 2.1 for P2 and WCE/PC. Built: Jan 25 2000 18:35:12 Default directory C:\WinCE420\PLATFORM\Boromir\Release dwReadDebounceCount 3 dwWriteDebounceCount 3 IO Delay 0 Flags 0 Initializing... ERROR: Unknown command 19 ERROR: Unknown command 19 [... and so on.] Looking in the WinCE420\Private code, I've worked out that command 19 corresponds to either the rgetfileattrib or the ropen function, depending on whether the 19 reported back from the desktop is in hex or in decimal. But what is really puzzling me, is why is it that the WinCE420 PRIVATE code is issuing commands that the desktop CESH does not recognise. Does anyone know what is going on hear? The application will not compile correctly, the error I am getting is 'Can't build MFC OLE projects using static MFC libraries' I can see how it is done in EVC as there is a drop down menu letting you select 'use mfc in a shared dll', but how on earth do you do it in PB 3.0.     - build tool hi all, in the building of the boot loader and oal, I have some problems. when I give certain include files, which are there in the standard include directories, like _WINCEROOT\public\common\oal\inc, or in _WINCEROOT\public\hlbase\inc still the build -cfs, it shows an error, like error C1083: Cannot open include file: 'halether.h': No such file or directory help me out. how do I solve this. even if I copy the file and change the #include to "", there will be something else to include, and I don't want my directory to be crowded.     - Bug in Chinese Online Help? Hello experts The online help of my chinese platform built with PB4.2 doesn't display the correct chinese characters. I think this is because in the help files delivered with PB4.2 there is the codepage information missing. There should be an expression like <meta http-equiv="content-type" content="text/html; charset=950"> for Chinese Taiwan in the htm files. You can see this e.g. in the help file for Wordpad PUBLIC\WCEAPPSFE\OAK\FILES\INTLFILE\0404\word.htm It is at least a problem with Chinese PRC and Chinese Taiwan.     - problems using peghelp.exe Hello, I have developped an appliction in WinCE 3.0, which will start after WinCE boot. After pressing a special button, peghelp.exe is called (CreateProcess (TEXT ("peghelp.exe"), TEXT ("file:\\Storage Card\\index.html")) for showing the user manual. After closing peghelp, application continues. The WinCE-Image is placed in an onboard-Flash, whereas my appication is on a CompactFlash. The HTML Files for the manual should also be placed on the CompactFlash. In principal it works, but only when I use absolute link addresses in the HTML files (<a href="\Storage Card\file.html"> instead of relative, because the system expects the HTML Files under \windows path. In order to develop and test the HTML Help Files with a browser on a PC, relative links are useful. How can I manage, that HTML files on a CompactFlash with relative link addresses are working ? I need a window handle only to show a notification icon on the tray bar (I'm using Shell_NotifyIcon), I don't need to manage any windows message. this works fine under windows ce 3.0 while under windows ce 4.2 seems to be not correct , since the system frequently hangs up after registering the driver. When I open the "My Computer" icon the windows ce shell raises an exception (data abort) and the system seems to be blocked. Hi,

I'm implemented an embedded media player and I need to do a fast forward
control. I came across IMediaPosition::put_Rate but instead of speeding up
my playback it seems to stop it. Is this implemented in CE4.2 ?

If i can't do this then i suppose the best i can do is a skip forward by a
number of minutes but that will be very clunky.
