    - How to compile for THUMB? Hi, My target platform is build under ARMV4I.( PB 4.2) I would like to build some drivers and applications for THUMB. How can I do it? ( I am building drivers with PB, and Applications with EVC) I looked at PB and EVC options and could not find the way to switch to THUMB.     - Link smclib.lib 2 problems.. How do I get smclib.lib included into my platform How do I succesfully link smclib.lib? Since I could not get it in my platform (using ARMVI) I copied it over manually and then tried compiling the smart card device driver... unforutnately I get linking errors. I am using platform builder 4.2. I also tried setting in the project setting an absolute path to the smclib.lib in the common folder. Nothing seems to resolve my link errors.     - GlobalMemoryStatus Hi All, We are using Windows CE.NET 4.2. We are getting numbers from this API which does not correlate with the actual hardware memory we have. We are considering hardware issue remote possbility for now. The hardware in which we have 64MB RAM gives us following nos : dwTotalPhys = 35102720 dwAvailPhys = 10379264 Now the total physical value looks really strange. The questions I have : 1. How is the GlobalMemoryStatus internally implemented ? Does it rely on some function in OAL/HAL layer ? 2. If just windows implements this function, then how can I explain the above nos ?     - CEC File Crashes Platform Builder 4.2? Hey guys. I've been trying to write my own .cec file to adapt a new reference BSP for a PPC platform, and I'm running into problems. I've read all of the CEC documentation in the help file. I started from an existing .cec. I verified that I have a nice unique CECInfo field. I've verified that all of my drivers have ComponentType fields that match existing ones exactly (like "Serial"), or they're completely new and unique. I've verified that all of my Implementations and BuildMethods have unique GUIDs. I'm able to load this in the CEC editor, and import it into my catalog. I can view all of my components in the catalog. However, as soon as I try to create a simple platform based on this new BSP, Platform Builder throws an exception. I do the following steps: 1. Start the "New Platform" wizard from File->New Platform. 2. Hit "Next" to get past the Step 1 screen. 3. Select my "NewBSP" from the Available BSP's screen in Step 2. 4. I select the "Mobile Handheld" configuration from the "Available configurations" option. I also enter the name "NewPlatform" in the "Platform Name" field. I then hit next. 5. I remove everything from the "Application and Media" screen, just for safety. (I didn't do this originally.) I then hit next. 6. I de-select everything from the "Networking and Communications" screen, just for safety. (I didn't do this originally.) I then hit next. 7. I then hit finish. After doing this, I can see PB doing something, then I see the "Copying sample configuration files..." status at the bottom. Then, I get: cepb.exe - Application Error The instruction at "0x5119f6fd" referenced memory at "0x00000000". The memory could not be "read". In other words, someone de-references a null pointer. Needless to say, I'm seeing the same problem with many other configurations, too. I've even completely cleaned my catalog by running the "cleandb.bat" and re-importing my .cec file. Has anyone seen this before? Does anyone have any ideas what I could be doing wrong in my .cec file? Anything to look for? I've been all over this .cec file, and it should work. I've done other custom .cec files before, and I haven't run into this. Any help would be greatly appreciated guys. This is starting to drive me a little bit crazy.     - expired trial I've been evaluating Ce 4.2 for use with an embedded project I am working on. As it was a long evaluation the 120 day trial on PowerBuilder finally expired. We are currently buying a license but since PB has already expired where do I install the new license? Everytime I try to launch PB it says 'trail expired' on a popup. When I close the popup PB shuts down. Do I have to unistall PB and reinstall? I can do it but I already have alot of items custom configured in it and setting them back up would be a real pain Anyone have any idea how to license Power Builder after the trial has expired?     - How to setup project in private folder that replaces part of public folder I am going to be customizing the Microsoft Bluetooth GUI and would like to know how best to setup this custom project. I would like to do so without manipulating any files in the public directory if possible. Only some of the files in OAK/DRIVERS/NETUI will be modified and possibly some in OAK/DRIVERS/BLUETOOTH/ I am sure I could get the desired effect by editing the DIRS and SOURCES files but that would be editing files in the public directory.     - LP-E CF Card doesn't work!! Hi all, I am working on a DBPXA255 based platform but it hasn't the SA-1111 chip, so it has the CF socket conected like that is in the Sandgate platform. I have a LP-E Ethernet card and I have addapted the Eboot's code and now I can download the WinCE image through the LP-E using the NE2000's code that comes with the EBOOT. But now I am trying to use it to connect my platform with the Ethernet using the NE2000 driver that comes in the C:\WINCE410\PUBLIC\COMMON\OAK\DRIVERS\NETCARD\NE2000 directory but it doesn't work. I have addapted the PCMCIA driver to use it like in the SANDGATE (and I have supported the BCR register, too). When I use a memory CF card I can read and write in it correctly so I think that the PCMCIA driver is working correctly. I have checked it one and another time but I don't see anything wrong. Nevertheless, I have seen that there's a ne2000.c file in the C:\WINCE410\PLATFORM\XSC1BD\DRIVERS\PCMCIA directory. Is this file used somewhere??? I think no, but should I use this instead of the NE2000 driver that I am using?? My other question is if I need to change the NE2000 driver's registry entries. I have proved to adecuate the default InterruptNumber and IOBaseAddress to my target device but it continues the same way. If I download a debug image with the KITL activated (through the SMSC LAN91C96 device), I don't see any strange debug messages and everything seems to be all right. I have proved with the DHCP enabled and it doesn't found the default gateway IP. I have proved to disable the DHCP and to fix a static IP but I cannot ping that IP from my host computer. And if I try to ping to a IP address from my target device, I found the next message: "PING: transmit failed. error code 11010".     - MOUHID attaching problem Hi, I'm debugging the USB UHCI driver for SL811HS on WCE4.2. If USB mouse is attached at or after startup, attaching UHCI device passes. In both cases, there are no reactions on mouse moving/pressing.     - Locking the SmartPhone 2002/2003 A question from the customer of one of my affiliates (sorry, I never saw SmartPhone personally, so, the question can be really stupid. Sorry). Is there any way to add the "Workstation Locked" functionality - as in NT4/w2k - to SmartPhone 2002/2003? The phone must awaken as locked, and require the password entrance before any operations.     - multiple serial ports, one driver [SER_CARD2] I'm trying to figure out how SER_CARD2 reports two COMx: devices. (I'm assuming it does actually do that. Reading past posts, it would seem that it should use ActiveDevice(Ex) to add additional devices, but I don't see anything unusual like that in the SER_CARD2 sources I'm trying to develop a driver for a multiple port serial PCMCIA card. The way I understand it, I'll get one insert event, and therefore one call into the XXX_Init function no matter how I structure the registry keys.     - Using Interrupts on IXDP425 I meant to post this here instead of app.development so I'm reposting it here... I have been given the task to measure how real-time WinCE 4.2 actually is. The methodolgy is essentially the same as what is discussed in http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/nhp/Default.asp?contentid =28000437. The primary reason I have to do this is some people doubt that it'll stay realtime while communicating over Ethernet. To summarize, I want to hook a signal generator to an input which will give me an interrupt. Eventually I want to have an application signaled that this input event occurred so I surmise that I'll need an ISR and an IST. Does anyone have any documentation on what Intel acually did with the BSP as far as interrupts? The Intel software library leads me to believe that I need to use ixOsServIntBind() to setup a callback function for that interrupt. Is that callback the ISR? I did a search for HookInterrupt() to look for examples of where in the Intel code this was used and I came accross the following comment in cfw_ixp425.c: *IXDP4XX NOTE: HookInterrupt() is not needed because we only have a single IRQ input. ALL IRQ's are routed to OEMInterruptHandler(). So I'm confused about what I actaully need to do to accomplish this task. Do I have to ask for the correct interrupt from the OELInterruptHandler()?     - browser other than ie? Hi, I've got a problem with the Internet Explorer ( I think it's 6.0) in Windows CE.net 4.2. I created a webinterface which contains a page that has to be refreshed every second. Unfortunately IE shows a white background while loading the page and this flickering looks terrible. If I use Mozilla, this does not happen, actually one does hardly realize that the page is updated. Does anyone know whether it's possible to run Mozilla on WinCE?     - Signed applications, RSAENH.DLL and common.bib I have a platform in which I've implemented OEMCertifyModule, and all exes and dlls have to be signed with our private key before they will run. Unfortunately our main application needs RSAENH.DLL for some crypto stuff. If I sign this, it detects it has been modified and refuses to run (correctly). At the moment my CertifyModule lets this dll through by recognising its name - this is a security loophole. If I could put RSAENH.dll in the MODULES section instead of the FILES section of common.bib, all would be well (it would be implicitly trusted).     - Display driver debug problem Hi everyone, The pc/104 board I'm working with did not come with a Windows CE driver and was using the default flat driver. This caused every screen operation to take place extremely slowly, so I asked the VGA chip manufacturer (Silicon Motion www.smi.com) of the board to give me the Windows CE driver. They sent me the dll file and the cec file for this chip, and using cec editor I created my own driver cec file. I copied the ddi_smi.dll file to $(_WINCEROOT)\platform\cepc\DRIVERS\DISPLAY\SMI directory and created the dirs file in the display directory to include the subfolders. The BuildRel method for this is #COPY("$(_WINCEROOT)\platform\cepc\DRIVERS\DISPLAY\SMI\ddi_smi.dll", "$(_FLATRELEASEDIR)") I then refreshed the catalog and added this new driver to my platform.     - ActiveSync can't transfer many large files??? My platform is : ARM920T, WinCE 4.2 .NET. My workstation is : Win 2K, and ASync 3.7 with USB 1.1 My PC recognize CE device through USB well, and ASync can tranfer many small files without fault. But Async always failed when I send many large files to my device(5~6MB, 50 files). I have made an effort to search the reason, and I found some hints.     - linking GWES I'm trying to come up with an alternate approach to replacing GWES components like calibrui and oomui. (i.e. one that works and is more convenient to test). I've already created a method for replacing resources, so I just need a way of getting my code into the build. It seems to me that I should be able to put my calibrui.lib first in the list of TARGETLIBS (in GWE\BUILDEXE\SOURCES) and then my code should override the default calibrui.obj (in gwes.lib). But it's not happening! It doesn't seem to matter what I do, the calibrui.obj from gwes.lib is always being used. Does anybody know what's going on here? They overlap to some degree and the definition of what frequencies the channels occupy are slightly different between countries. There are 2 or 3 that are universal (I think 5 & 6). I want to access my PC's shared folder from my target CE machine. However, whenever I try "net use share \\192.168.1.10\shared", it returns error code 53(ERROR_BAD_NETPATH). My Pc(\\192.168.1.10) and target CE machine(\\192.168.1.20) is connected by crossed ethernet cable. The ping command (ping 192.168.1.10) always succeed. I checked the contents of my nk.bin (by viewbin command on my PC) and I found netbios.dll, redir.dll, net.exe included in the nk.bin. I already changed my device name from default "WindowsCE" to "WindowsCE0707". I can not understand why it says "ERROR_BAD_NETPATH". what is wrong with "\\192.168.1.10\shared" ?     - Debugger problem CS8900A instable Hi all, we have PXA255 based platform with a CS8900 ethernet controller and using Windows CE V4.2. NDIS ethernet driver works fine. The debugger, sources from PB V4.2, works. We can download image and debugger start to communicate with PB. But after a while or when starting a remote tool the communication is lost. I tried different things like polling and interrupt mode for the debugger, but no of them seems to work stable. Now I have found out when I set all KITL debug zones and set the serial port to pass these debug messages. The ethernet debugger is working stabile. Does anyone has a idea? Maybe it is a timing problem. With the KITL messages over serial port, ethernet debugger works a little bit slower. Many thanks for your help or advices.     - driver development I have written device drivers for my CEPC platform that load and function correctly when compiled under debug, but when they are compiled under release, the driver don't load. I verified this by loading a registry viewing application, and viewing the registry. The drivers do not show up in the active list. They are PCI drivers, and their instances do show up under Builtin\PCI\Instance. I am assuming that this means that the devices have been enuermated correctly on the PCI bus. What am I missing?     - Serial Port open Failure Hello, I have a problem with some code that opens a com port and writes to it. I run my application from "Target -> Run Programs". The port opens successfully and I can write to it. If i take the same application and put it onto my hard disk and try to run it it fails.     - Lockup after boot I attempted to follow the directions in the thread on 2/2/2004 'How to show network computers'. I used the net use * \\<computername>\sharename command and got the point where I was asked for my password and stuff and then I was asked if I wanted to save those changes, I believe I hit 'Y' for yes. I am now stuck in a state where when I load a new image of CE via ethernet to my IXDP425, I am locked up. I changed to a debug build of CE and caught a 1st Chance Exception in OHCI2.DLL at 0x80000002 DataType Misalignment. It took me to Line 409 of USB\HCD\OHCD2\CPIPE.CPP so it was obvious that I'm crashing somewhere in the USB stuff. I unplugged my USB mouse and keyboard and now I can boot. I replugged my mouse and I can now navigate the filesystem. Under my \NOR Flash\Documents and Settings\ I have a system.hv and default.mky. I know that system.hv is the system hive but I don't know what default.mky is. My theory is that when I tried to save the settings it wrote something to the registry that wasn't good.     - MMU ON: virtual vs. physical addressing I mave a question regarding virtual to physical mapping on the PXA255. I am in the process of writing the bootloader code for Windows CE 4.2. In my assembly code that gets executed initially, I turn on the MMU after having setup the translation table base register and translation table itself in RAM. As far as I understand it, after the MMU is turned on, all addresses are treated as virtual and converted by using the translation table. However, what confuses me is when I look at the BSP code available, the actual writes to for instance Flash uses physical memory addresses. For instance, the FlashRead routine, translates the virtual address argument dwStartAddr to physical and calls all its lower level functions with this address. Also when dealing with PCMCIA, it looks like sometimes the code sets addresses in the physical space and write to for instance attribute memory, and other times I see code using virtual space. I don't see any MMU on/off switching, which leads me to believe that there are rules for when to use virtual and physical memory addressing that I need to know to develop working code (can't check it on hardware now as our development board is still a couple of weeks away). Can anybody help me with the rules for when I need to use virtual address space and when I need to use physical in the bootloader code after turning on the MMU? I don't suppose you could be a bit more forthcoming with details on that
could you? It's tough to know what that means without the context of the
full source code. e.g. what are possible sources of this assertion? what
might a driver be doing wrong that would cause that? etc...
