Also are there any samples on implementing EHCI for Wince 5.0? I found only EHCI mdd and one EHCI pdd in the PUBLIC/COMMON/OAK/DRIVERS/USB and absolutely no info which controller is supported by the EHCI pdd? Does anybody managed to get working EHCI + WinCE 5.0?     - CeRunAppAtEvent and SetSystemTime question Hello, I'm writing a device driver for a Real Time Clock (RTC) on a I2C bus attached to the processor. I'm using WinCE 4.2. I have my device drivers for the I2C and RTC working fine but I have one intergration issue that I'm getting stuck on: I need to have SetSystemTime() write the time to the RTC on the I2C bus anytime the system time is changed by the user. I'm trying to use the notification event, NOTIFICATION_EVENT_TIME_CHANGE, for this purpose. However, I'm having trouble registering the event and I'm hoping someone can help me. My basic approach is that in n my drivers RTC_Init() routine, I spin off a thread to keep the RTC in sync. Then the thread will create a named event and call CeRunAppAtEvent with that named event. Then whenever the SetSystemTime() call is made, my event should be triggered.     - Microsoft FMD in WinCE 5.0? Does WinCE 5.0 Microsoft's Flash Media Driver (FMD) implement any sort of wear-leveling algorithm? If so, are there any performance/lifecycle data available? For example, I need to write a 1 Mbytes file every 1 hour to my FLASH memory - ideally as just a FAT file. How long will my FLASH last until it ceases to erase? I plan to use NOR FLASH. Or do I have to use something like Datalight FlashFX Pro, or Intel PSM (or worse, implement my own block driver)?     - DMA on a PXA255 I am debugging an audio driver on a PXA255 based system that uses the I2S unit to perform playback of a WAV file. When setting up the DMA descriptors for a transfer of audio data out the I2S Unit there are some addresses which are required: Word 0: DDADRx (DMA Descriptor Address Register) Points to the next four word descriptor. Word 1: DSADRx (DMA Source Address Register) Word 2: DTADRx (DMA Target Address Register) Word 3: DCMDx (DMA Command Register) Do the addresses provided have to be PHYSICAL or UNCACHED_VIRTUAL (since the driver is executing under the device manager)? Does the address in the DTADRx have to be the address of the I2S unit SADR register? (Which would be Physical 0x4040_0080, Virtual whatever). Hi folks, Has anyone attempted to bring the WinCE port of WinPcap (at the bottom of http://winpcap.polito.it/install/default.htm under "WinPcap for Windows CE") forward to either 4.2 or 5.0? It was originally done for WinCE 3.0, and supposedly worked (I don't have any 3.0 devices to try atm) I've got the driver, pcap lib, and a sample app building and running, but so far I'm not seeing any data from the interface I'm trying to snoop (and I'm not by any stretch of imagination an NDIS guy, so from here on out it's slow going). I'm slowly working my way through it, but wondering if anyone's gone down this road before and has any pointers (up to and including "you're wasting your time" or "there's a better way to capture packets on a WinCE device"). Where I am atm: PKTRead() in the pktdrv's read.c is constantly falling through at "not enough buffered packets", even when I've definitely got traffic going to and from the device's NIC.     - Native Wi-Fi and RTL8180 chipset I recently purchased an 802.11b PCMCIA card with a Realtek 8180 chipset. I used PB 5.0 to build an OS image for a VIA mainboard (using VIA's recently published BSP), then added Native Wi-Fi STA (SYSGEN_NWIFI_STA), Wireless LAN STA (SYSGEN_ETH_80211) and the RTL8180 Native Wi-Fi STA to the image. Upon booting the card seems to get correctly recognized. At least the Zero Configuration Wizard for RTL8081_NWIFI pops up and I can enter the necessary settings such as SSID and WEP key. However, the card refuses to connect. I have tried with and without encryption but it fails to connect every time. Do I need some additional driver or am I missing something else that's obvious?     - Some questions about CEC files in PB 4.20 and 5.0? 1. In PB 4.20, I uaually use a CEC file to create a feature. I can define Pre-Make image and Post-Make actions for a "feature". My colleagues can use the CEC file to add the same feature in their computer easily. However, in PB 5.0, the Pre-Make image and Post-Make actions are platform-setting-dependent so that I can not define Pre-Make image and Post-Make actions for a "feature". I must add these actions in the platform setting manually. Unfortunately, when I transfer these features to my colleagues, they must add these features and do what I do manually. It's annoying.     - Ethernet Download Hi everyone, Wish u all a happy, prosperous, cheerful and funfilled 2005 firstly. Well, I have a problem in downloading the OS image to the target machine. On the development workstation, I open the configure remote settings and give ethernet. On the target machine I put the boot floppy and boot the machine. After a few seconds the target machine reads "Jumping to A8F021". The target machine's ip address is not displayed. What could be the problem. I use a "RealTek RTL8139 Family PCI Fast Ethernet NIC" card for my ethernet downlaod. I give the NET_IRQ as 0 and NET_IOBASE as 0 and leave the NET_ADDRESS blank.     - PQOAL PCI BusID vs Bus Number Problem The OALxxx PCI routines (e.g. OALPCICfgWrite) all take a BusID parameter, in addition to the regular PCI location address. There is no documentation on the parameters, but the bus ID appears to be intended for additional PCI interfaces, while the bus portion of the PCI address defines secondary buses behind a PCI bridge. In most cases, the BusID parameter would be zero, unless there were multiple host bridges in the system. However, the CEDDK functions (HalGetBusData etc) don't have a BusId parameter, this is apparently something new that was defined with the PQOAL. The CEDDK maps calls to the HalXXX functions to IOCTL_HAL_DDK_CALL, and from there on to the OAL functions. However, the BusID parameter needs to be set, so the PQOAL fills in this parameter with the PCI bus number. Unfortunately, the OAL sees calls for secondary buses as calls for buses on another interface. Obviously, the cpu dependent code can ignore the BusID parameter and just use the PCI device location for any system that has only one host interface. Questions: - What is the purpose of the BusID parameter in the PQOAL routines, and how is it different from the bus portion of the address? - If there are multiple interfaces (multiple host buses) how are they supposed to be differentiated in calls to the CEDDK configuration routines? Looks like PB wants me to create a new platform builder dll project (pbp); but then I'd have to somehow migrate my existing evc++ project over.     - switching from one keyboard driver to another Hi, i have allready posted about this before, but i havent been able to get it to work, so i'm going to reinstall my bsp to have a fresh one to start with. The problem i'm having is the following. In our device (custom hardware) there is allready a keyboard driver that handles the buttons on our device. Now i would like to have the possibility to use the USB keyboard, discarding the buttons on the device itself. So my question is, what do i need to take out to get my old keyboard driver out of the bsp, and what do i need to put in to get my USB keyboard supported? The USB works, as i can use it to read from a memory stick. Later on i want to merge those two, but currently i'm short on time to do it.     - Usb stick support when plugged in at boot Hello, I have figured out how to support a removable usb memory stick under CE, and it works ok when i plug it in after the OS has booted. But if the stick is allready connected when turning on the power, then the stick is not recognised/seen. My best guess is that is is due to the fact that it is a loadable driver (correct term??) Is there any way i can probe at startup to see if the stick is connected, or is there a way to make it an always loaded driver, but still with the capability to start it when i load/change sticks at runtime?     - I/O card locks up new Dell X50 I wrote a driver for a I/O mode flash device my company is developing and it runs fine on a PXA255 based Dell Axim running PPC 4.2 and an HP IPAQ that is based on a PXA250 running PPC 4.2. However, when I plug the device into a Dell that is based on a PXA270 and PPC (now Windows Mobile??) 4.2 2nd Edition, my driver loads OK and receives data from the I/O card (I know this because the driver can write the incoming buffers to files), but the Windows UI stops functioning and takes no user input and never refreshes the screen. Hi,

I was wondering if anyone was able to setup a hive based registry system on
any board using VIA chipset. The image I built works fine when I use Compact
Flash but has problems when using a hard drive. From the debug messages, I
can tell that CE is having problems writing to some sectors on the HD. Does
anyone know why?
