    - Audio Driver - WINCE6.0 Hello All, I am using Wavedev2 for my audio driver. I had implemented the audio driver initialization. I entered the platform.reg, and platform.bib entry. My driver dll is getting called and executed. But, whenever i am trying to play the wav file, waveoutopen gets failed and returns the error code of 32 which is WAVERR_BADFORMAT. I am expecting the function call to my wavemain.cpp for WaveIOControl. I never get the call to this WaveIOControl function. Does any one faced this similar issue? Thanks in advance... Tag: Help!     - ce4.2 headless with cf1 ??? Help please ! Yes, I know how old it is ! I'm thinking of becoming a historian ;) Our ce6 platform is not finished yet, so I have to go to market using our old ce4.2 platform. (We dont have a ce5 platform) We have a vs2003/c# app that is just going into beta ... but ... all the prototypes have been on a hardware build with a display, but the target production spec does not include a display, as it is an embedded box hidden in a cabinet somewhere. I have now found out that cf just doesnt appear in the catalog for a headless device. I know this is an old issue, but there doesnt appear to be any useful info out there that doesnt include using cf2, which as I understand it isnt possible with vs2003, and ce4.2 cant be targetted with vs2005.     - RAM-BASED Registry. Hi mates, We successfully implemented one year ago a RAM-BASED persistent registry solution on one platform that keeps the registry in a flash when RegFlushKey is called and recovers it during boot. As you can imagine, to implement it we developed OEM functions for reading and writing the registry and filled with them following pointers in OEMInit: g_pOemGlobal->pfnReadRegistry , g_pOemGlobal->pfnWriteRegistry Now I'm porting that functionality to another platform and it's not working. - We make a checksum of the registry in pfnWriteRegistry and verify in pfnReadRegistry. And I've verified that I provide to the kernel in pfnReadRegistry exactly what the kernel gives us in pfnWriteRegistry. I've also tested to move the storage to SRAM to discard any flash algorithm error. - I also see all the sequence of the kernel calling pfnReadRegistry a couple of times with the REG_READ_BYTES_START flag and many more with no flags until we return 0. The size seems to be reasonable. - Both platforms are ARM based running WinCE6.0. - So I'm quite sure that we are providing a good registry BUT the kernel doesn't use it and uses the default (default.fdf) - I've also played a little bit with the NKForceCleanBoot and other boot flags with no success.     - Display driver in CE 6.0 Hello, I have a problem with porting a display driver in WinCE 6.0. The driver is directdraw enabled. We are using the same pixel format in CE 5.0 and 6.0. Also, i havnt modified any part related to the pixel format. The only difference i found was that, in CE 5.0, you can specify pixel format in DDHAL structure when BuildDDHAlInfo is called. In CE 6.0 there is no such fileds. What would be reason for, it returning bitmasks as all 0s ?. The actual bitmask is RGB (0x000000FF, 0x0000FF00, 0x00FF0000). One more question, in CE 5.0, the same test case, showed the bitmasks as 0x00FF0000, 0x0000FF00, 0x000000FF instead of 0x000000FF, 0x0000FF00, 0x00FF0000 which was given as the supported bitmask in mode Info.     - 3G modem pcmcia Dear all, I'm working with a CE 6.0 platform with x86 and I have a vodafone 3G modem pcmcia card. After card inserted to my target,COM5: was created. If I try to configure a dialup connection, it seems configured correctly. But when I try to do the connection, it response "The port is not available: another program may be using it." and the rasdial fonction returns error code 633(ERROR_PORT_NOT_AVAILABLE). I'm sure that COM5 is free.     - Problem with Find Dialog Box in Internetnet explorer Hi Guys, Am using WindowsCE 5.0. I have a customized OS in my device. I have a problem with the Find Dialog Box in internet explorer. if u go to IE-> Edit-> Find... then a dialog box pops up showing the typical "Find" dialog box. When i build the same OS for any other langauage e.g. chinese, japanese etc..... then this particular dialog bos gets distorted...and the text strings are cropped and not shown properly..... So i thought of cloning the public code and then change the RC file so that it looks better. But i couldnt find the desired RC file in the IE of Public..folder.     - How to fail a display driver load ..gracefully According to the documentation you can have several display drivers under the: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\GDI\DisplayCandidates] If the driver fails loading it will go to the next in the list. I can't seem to get this to work. What is the correct way to fail the driver? I thought I could just return "FALSE" from the: BOOL DisplayInit(LPCTSTR pszInstance, DWORD monitors) in the first driver and it would go to the second. It just crashes the GWEs. any ideas?     - Expanding RAM at runtime startup I have a platform that can be build with 32 or 64Meg of RAM. I would like to build just one image that will support them both (i.e. available ram determined at run time). I seem to recall there may be an API call that could do this. Basically I would build the image for 32M and upon startup it would sense if 64M is available and if so expand available RAM. I think the call was made in OALInit function.     - Help....DAT files and .lnk Files!!! Hi All, I require to put some resource files needed by the application in a definite folder structure as part of my nk.bin. eg i should have a "dll" folder and "resource" folder in "my device". I am able to create folder and am able to copy specific files from my windows directory to the specific folders using .DAT files. But by using .DAT files, it is only possibe to COPY files. But i dont want to Eat memory by keeping a the same files in the "windows" directory as well in the created directories. Is there any way of doing it better? Will .lnk files help in this case?     - Help!! Adding folder to the Nk.bin Hi All, I need to include an application as part of the CE image. The Application needs a directory structure.ie a "RES" folder for resource files and something like that. I checked the .bib files . But i couldnt find a method to add files to a specific directory in the windows directory. Is there any way of doing this? In otherwords is it possible to add a folder itself to the Nk.bin?     - why unmount/mount occur while formatting a usb mass storage I export inside-flash (900M) as a usb mass storage on wince5. then I format this portable storage disk by Explorer on PC side . At the end of formatting progress, the disk will be unmounted , and then mount automatically. and the Explorer will popup a dialog which said like "can not complete the format operation".     - ASX files and prebuffering of content While playing with some .asx files in WinCE5.o and 6.0, I am finding an issue with its prebuffering mechanism. Essentially take an asx file that contains 2 clips on a server: test1.wmv, test2.wmv. They can be with or without the prebuffering tag inserted between the clips: <EVENT NAME="test" WHENDONE="NEXT"> </EVENT> Now when I attempt to play this asx file it will create a graph and play the test1.wmv clip fine. However before the completion of the test1.wmv clip, the 2nd clip test2.wmv will have a graph created for it and will be started (start buffering). This works fine with the built in MS software WMV decoder. However my problem is that the WMV decoder I am using uses a shared hardware resource which means that the 2nd graph will fail because the hardware resource is already in use. If I turn around and insert a small audio only file in the .asx file inbetween test1.wmv and test2.wmv. Then all 3 clips will play properly, because the hardware resource from the first graph is freed by the time the 3rd graph is loaded. My question then is, is there anyway I can prevent the ASXV3 Playlist filter from prebuffering clips and only allow it to start a new clip when the previous clip is complete. Thanks Tag: Help!     - USB RNDIS: automatic setup of IP address Is there any good solution to setup automatically an USB RNDIS connection for a CE5.0 based device without bridging or running a local DHCP server in the host PC? It is not needed accessing to the full network but just PC to device communication.     - About FMD driver for virtual inside flash I want to make a part of blocks of inside-flash as a virtual individual flash, and I have written a FMD driver for it , I have make two MBRs on the flash for the 'two' flash, and write the MBRs onto the blocks belongs to the two flash. but I can't see the virtual flash's name in the explore yet. I have verified the two MBR data by only keep one MBR on the flash . but when two MBRs and two FMD drivers are all work, I can't see the virtual flash, only original flash parts can be seen! and throgh remome regedit tool, I saw the two FMD drivers both in 'active' register key. Can anyone give me advice? thanks!     - Need help booting/running OS from mDOC (DiskOnChip). I have a Windows CE 5.0 BSP that is based on a PXA270 with 32 MB of NOR FLASH and a SanDisk (M-Systems) H3 mDOC (a.k.a. DiskOnChip). The NOR FLASH is used to store the boot loader and OS image and the OS runs XIP. The mDOC is used as a drive and contains hive registry, application programs, user data, etc. We want to remove the NOR FLASH and use the mDOC for everything. According to the documentation the mDOC has a 32 KB XIP area to boot from so this should be possible. I contacted SanDisk technical support and they confirmed it was possible but that it is not straight forward and that they could not provide support to anyone other than very high volume OEMs. They gave me some sample code but it is not helping me because it is written for Windows Mobile and uses "ImgFS" and possibly other things that I cannot. If anyone has done this, or knows anything that can help me move towards my goal, please respond. Here is what I THINK needs to be done. Please forgive me if I have something wrong but I am still trying to put together the big picture of what is involved. - I need a very small piece of code that will XIP from the 32 KB boot block area in the mDOC. I believe some refer to this as an IPL and its main purpose is to do some hardware initialization, access a binary partition on the mDOC, and copy some code from mDOC to RAM and jump to that code. This copied code could either be the full boot loader (like EBOOT) or the OS image. - Modify EBOOT to update the appropriate mDOC partition with updated code (EBOOT or OS) as opposed to writing to the NOR FLASH which is what currently happens. - Modify the OS image to be able to run (demand paged?) from mDOC. Questions: 1) I have read documentation and it seems like I may need to use NANDIMAGE section in the config.bib file but I am not sure about this because the mDOC is internally NAND but has a NOR style interface. Is NANDIMAGE needed? If so, can someone provide a better explanation than the help? 2) My searches keep coming up with "BinFS" but from the description I am not sure if I need this or not. Again, can someone provide a better explanation than the help? 3) When the boot code copies the OS image into RAM, in order to minimize boot time I would like to only copy the kernel and let everything else be demand paged when needed. Hi, I installed Windows CE 6.0 R2 and R2 update in a clean machine, but when I try to debug C# in my embedded platform, debug session does nto stop in my breaks points, I have to install NET CF 2.0 SP1 to solve this. We are not using the standard shell, our application for the platform is written in .Net Compact Framework. What i would like to know is the NDIS packets received by the IM driver from the miniport do they already have the ethernet header stripped off so when i examine the contents of the buffer that the NDIS_PACKET is pointing to i am only dealing with an IP packet. When the SDIO-UART kit is inserted in SD-Slot the driver will load automatically. Up to this working good. 1) When we soft-reset(warm-boot) the PDA while the card is in inserted condition, the PDA failed to load the driver. After the re-insertion of card only driver is loaded. But according to our requirement, the SDIO-UART based serial device always inserted in the SD slot. What we will do? 2) Similarly for the Sleep mode also, the PDA won't wakeup when the SDIO-UART kit inserted condition. The only solution is soft-reset the PDA; and re-insert the SDIO-UART kit. GetIpStatistics, GetUdpStatistics and GetIcmpStatistics would appear to contain some of the SNMP data, but for the whole system, not per interface, which SNMP appears to be able to get. I suppose it could get interface byte counts using NDISUIO, or implementing its own NDISUIO... but how does it get the tcpConnTable? In our system we have almost no need for RAM storage, since most files are generated, modified and deleted on the storage card. However, we have some massive memory hogs as far as applications are concerned (including one massive graphical .NET monster). I noticed that a user can go to the Start > Settings > Control Panel > System > Memory and slide the bar around to change the way memory is utilized. So, I have two questions--as usual--but this time the two questions are actually related--I checked, I swear. The first question is: can I modify that allocation by default, and maximize the Program Memory? We are working with Windows CE 5.0 and we have developed an application which try to "connect" with several devices using non- blocking sockets. These devices are disconnected, so "connect" function will not be completed. Using "select" function we detect when "connect" is not completed and we call "closesocket" function (socket resources are freed). But we can observe that "dwAvailPhys" memory in our device GETS DOWN each time connect/closesocket are invoked (in 2/3 days our device resets because "connect" retries are executed every minute). We have read in several Webs that Windows NT (see Microsoft article 171996) and Windows CE 4.1 (see Microsoft article 817758) had the same (or very similar) problem that we are describing.     - About universal keyboard control (hook ?) Hello every body, I want to use keyboard to control the volume when WinCE system started , no matter what program will run after , of course my app will run first , Did HOOK app(dll) is the best choice ? Do I have another chocice ? In most of time ,My hook is no problem at all , but sometimes system will halt when use hook I found (espacilly when the app (map program )run for a long time later ) . I don't know if the hook will bring some confilct with current run program ? By the way , my hook dll will pop up a dialog to show volume degree when keyboard is press. I tried to change my homescreen layout, and the call history icon
should be re-associated to clog.exe. Besides, I need to execute
clog.exe by different filters, such as missed call, incoming call and
outgoing call. Does anyone knows what parameters should be added after
clog.exe when launching it? Thanks in advance.
