    - flashing eboot makes the image downloading failed I have flashed the eboot.nb0 on intel pxa27x in windows ce 5.0 platform builder.     - When Copying EXE file, the default icon is shown instead of actual 1. Please copy EXE file to any place 2. The actual program ICON of this EXE file is not displayed, but instead the Default ICON(IDI_APPLICATION) is shown 3.     - Wavedev2 loading problem Hiii Using Ensonic sample i have built wavedev2 driver for my audio codec. i have Waveform Audio, Waveform Audio Renderer , Wave File Parser component from the catalog in my image.Am able to load the driver for my ARM11 target platform on wince6. At the end of the bring up am expecting WAV_Open getting invoked but it fails to do so~~~~~. Meanwhile if sample application calls createfile("WAV1:") invokes the driver call WAV_Open successfully.     - Flashed eboot issue on Intel pxa27x I have flashed the eboot.nbo(192.29.8.102) previously it was (192.29.8.101) using Jflash on intel PXA27X. But if i try to download the image it keeps on downloading and at one time,the downloading stops.Anyone can tell me the reason and the solution for this issue.     - Remote Performance Monitor - update very slow Whenever I use Remote Performance Monitor it seems that selecting the cpu % usage creates a huge lag in the display update. When monitoring other metrics, such as memory load, etc. the display refresh is very regular at ~ 1000 milliseconds. The cpu % metric is update about every 10 seconds making it barely useful.     - Embedding external DLL in NK.bin When I try to add an external DLL into the run-time image NK.bin, adding a line in project.bib like this one: MyDLL.dll (Mypath)\MyDLL.dll NK C I get this error when PB calls MakeImage: "Runtime Error! Program C:\WinCE600\public\common\oak\Bin\i386\romimage.exe, this application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the application's support team for more information." Instead, I never get that error if I include DLLs created by PB projects. The one I want to include is created under a Windows for desktop (2k, XP), but it should be compatible (it's a tool downloaded from Internet, and it says it's CE compatible).     - Can I expose SD and internal NAND as separate drives on USB host? Hello all, I have a WinCE 5.0 BSP for a device on which the customer wants to access the internal NAND flash and an attached SD card simultaneously from a host PC as individual disk drives. I've added the blocks to platform.reg mentioned in the online help and various examples I've seen (reproduced below), but the two cannot be seen at the same time. I have noticed that the "DeviceName" key is described in the singular as identifying "the name of the store to expose to the USB host." Do I infer from this that it is not possible to expose more than one store in this manner? If this can be done, what would the registry keys look like? Also, can anyone provide a citation of Microsoft literature discussing this area, so that I can better explain if there exists a design limitation preventing simultaneous visibility of more than one store.     - Location of Frame Buffer Hi, I am working on an ICOP x86 300 Mhz based deviced with Windows CE 6.0. We generated the OS image. I would like to reach directly the VGA memory to make some fact graphic operations. VGA controller is XGI Volari Z9s. I worked with s3c2410 before, this unit has source code for the LCD and also headers for memory area that the LCD frame buffer use.     - MMC card write error - dropping bit 7 We have a strange error with some MMC cards. OS is CE5 PXA255 MMC card formatted with FAT. With some MMC cards, currently the issue with with 1 1GB "MMCplus" card, the writes to the card do not work correctly. I have turned on FATFS_VERIFY_WRITES but still the problem persists. I would have hoped this would have ensured the writes occur correctly? It is only ever a byte or two within a file and it is always the top bit (bit 7) which is dropped from 1 to 0. (e.g it should be C5 but is actually 45). It is not always the same byte in the file, not always the same file (for example when extracting a CAB file different files get corrupted on different attempts) This happens for files written by CE5 on the device. If I remove the MMC card and read it in a card reader on a PC it shows the missing bit(s) in the file(s). If I write to the card using the card reader the write is successful I have tried reducing the maximum MMC clock speed from 10MHz to 5MHz but still the same effect. Any other ideas?     - Program memory usage in Windows CE 5.0 Hi there, I have a question on Program memory usage in Windows CE 5.0. When I copy a file from one location to another on the device I see incerase in program memory usage. (For example from MyDocuments to Desktop). But if I delete the same file from desktop and recycle bin, I don't get back the memory allotted during the copy. Is this memory leak in Windows CE 5.0 filesystem?     - Unresolve externals while building OAL. Hello, I m implenting RTC logic for Davinci(Dm6446).... for RTC logic communicates with davinci via I2C protocol... So in RTC logic sources file i have included I2C lib. and in OAL i have link RTC.lib...... but while building OAL i m facing with unresolved external sumbols--> closehandle,getlasterror,WaitForSingleObject,ReleaseMutex and like some others which are declared inside i2C.lib which are declared inside I2C code... but OAL layer does not support the above functions...thats why getting that errors...     - PB5 emulator ARMV4 vs ARMV4i (2577 vs 2336) I'm trying to create a generic emulator image for testing some applications against a CE device that has the standard shell. I've installed the device emulator BSP and successfully followed the directions to create an image and SDK. The SDK/emulator installs and runs just fine, but I'm running into a CPU ID issue with installing CABs and running applications. On real devices I've tested against, when the OS reports the CPU as a 2336, I can still run binaries that were compiled for ARMV4, but not so on the emulator I've generated.     - Hive Registry and TIPC card problem Hello all, On Wince 5.0 new hardware/new product, I was originally doing my debugging with a ram registry. We have a Ricoh chip that is a CF and SD (+ others) device. The CF mimics the TIPCCARD driver. when I have my ram registry I include the TI PCCARD driver ( also have the BLOCK ATAPI driver and the Compact Flash /PC Card Storage drivers) My "Hard Drive" is a PCI/IDE PCI 0/15/2 and the CF device is PCI 0/13/0 (info for the traces below) If I have the ram registry the system boots just fine and my CF slot works without any problem. As Soon as I changed to the Hive my system wont completely boot. If I remove the TIPC Card driver it will boot (but no cf.:( One thing I found when running the ram registry is that when the cf card is inserted giisr gets used in atapipcmcia.cpp and it has Info.CheckPort = FALSE; so it assumes it's the last device in the giisr chain , well that worked if the cf card was inserted after I booted but if the card was already in on a boot this prevented other device from getting services. I changed the order on that driver to 10 and that fixed that problem, but again that was using a ram registry, I have too much debug info so I've just cut and pasted a bit below (hopefully enough). one set from the Ram registry boot and some from the Hive Registry boot (look for ========== demark) any help, thoughts, suggestions ?     - xr16c864 Quad uart and shared interrupts Hello! I have a geode system which uses a XR16C864 quad uart chip (connected on the ISA bus). This chip has 4 interruptlines going to a CPLD, where they are OR'ed, and connected to the CPU IRQ10 line. So, in other words i need to share IRQ10. This system used to run Windows CE .net, and someone has written a working driver and ISR, but when using this on Windows CE5 (which i need to), it does not work. The old ISR was actually just GIISR.DLL, which was called for each uart like this KernelLibIoControl(pHWHead->hIsrHandler, IOCTL_GIISR_INFO, &Info, sizeof(Info), NULL, 0, NULL) where the GIISR_INFO struct is: Info.SysIntr = pHWHead->dwSysIntr; Info.CheckPort = TRUE; Info.PortIsIO = TRUE; Info.UseMaskReg = FALSE; Info.PortAddr = (DWORD)pHWHead->pIIR_FCR; //ISR when read Info.PortSize = sizeof(BYTE); Info.Mask = SERIAL_IIR_INT_SOURCE_MASK; And, when the IST event is triggered, the ISR is read like this KernelLibIoControl(pHWHead->hIsrHandler, IOCTL_GIISR_PORTVALUE, NULL, 0, &(pHWHead->IIR), sizeof(BYTE), NULL) This returns the ISR of the correct uart, and the processing begins. My problem is: At some point beween CE4 and 5, MS decided to change the structure of the COM16550 driver completely (from C to C++ and more layered). I have created a new COM16864 driver based on this new COM16550, i have also used the new GIISR,. This works great as long as i only use one port at a time BUT, when sending data to two ports at a time, the interrups goes high(as seen on oscilliscope on com10), and it is not cleared until the port is closed again. I think this is because one of the UART receive FIFOs goes above the trigger level, which will cause an interrupt, but for some reason the interrupt is not registered in the driver, and therefore the FIFO will not be emptied, and the interrupt stays high. I have read alot about the GIISR not being suitable for serial IRQ sharing, or that the GIISR_INFO checkport value will cause unpredicable behaviour when used with IRQ sharing, but my problem is: THIS WORKED ON THE OLD SYSTEM! What happens when GIISR finds a valid value in the chain of ISRs? Will it ever look further down the chain for another valid intterupt? If anyone have any ideas or suggestions, please help!     - Locating unreleased interfaces in a COM application Hi all, I have a C application running on WinCE 6.0 that is using a COM component (RTC v1.5, to be specific). There seem to be some memory leaks, but I have not been able to locate them. All of them seem to have something to do with unreleased interfaces. I've run the rest of the code through AppVerifier to ensure there are no leaks. I've used IMallocSpy too but it doesn't help me locate the interfaces I'm missing out on.     - Dynamically partitoning flash memory from Bootloader. hi , We are using WinCE 6.0 on PXA320 processor.I need to dynamically resize the storage space using FMD driver based on the image size. That is, instead of keeping the FMD size constant, it should be varied accoring to the size of the OS image. For an example if the total flash size 512MB and if the size of the OS image is 20MB then the rest 492MB should be utilized for storage and if I change the size of the OS image to 30MB then the storage memory should be 482MB, so that no flash memory is wasted. Now, in order to debug and update my application( sub-project), i have made the os image for RAM and when i attach it to the target (to download), it is successfully downloaded into the RAM. But when i run my application, what i came to know is, the one that is in Flash is running but not my RAM image. What should i do?     - Unable to stop at break point in my application Am debugging my application using wince 6. Am using iMX31 Freescale board as my devide. I have build the OS image for RAM (for Release version) using iMX31 BSP. But after i port my OS onto the board, am able to run my application and it is giving proper results but am unble to debug it step by step. Even if i put some break points in the application, after i run the application, the yellow circles which represent break points before running the application turns into RED circles ....... I have debugged many applications before and am successful in debugging them but this current application is not stopping at the break points ... Before installing RC2 it seemed to work fine. After installing RC2, we were very interested in the new MDD layer with Wear leveling features so we did a couple of changes in the registry and the driver to make use of it through a kind of wrapper (not doing a complete new flash driver): - driver: links to fmdwrapperpdd.lib instead of fal.lib changed dll name from smflash.dll to nandfmd.dll *.def file changed - registry: "PartitionDriver" from mspart.dll to flashpart.dll [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\BuiltIn\NANDFLASH] old: "Dll"="smflash.dll" new: "Dll"="flashmdd.dll" "FlashPddDll"="nandfmd.dll" The change worked fine and I had again a filesystem available when WinCE boots. The only difference (from the user point of view) I could detect is that now ControlPannel\StorageManager reports the total size of the flash instead of the real size I leave for the filesystem (I protect some areas of the flash by returning BLOCK_STATUS_BAD in FMD_GetBlockStatus) But after doing some tests, I've found a totally reproducable problem. When I fill in the filesystem over 95% (more or less).     - Win CE 6.0 ARMv4 Emulator and Activesync Hello. I am trying to get activesync to sync with my ARMv4 Emulator. I have come far but am now stuck on an issue that I don't know how to resolve. Basically what happnes is... I start the ARMv4 emulator, run the \windows\dmacnect binary and then cradle the device. Activesync then start to connect and establishes an connection but compains that it cannot determine the version of the active sync on the device and that maybe a firewall is blocking something. It also states that I need to maybe upgrade my ActiveSync. Now, I am running Platform builder 6 with all updates installed up to June 2008. I have Activesync 4.5 installed I have ActiveSync checked in the OSDesign catalog I dont have firewall checked in the OSDesign Catalog KITL is disabled and I manually edited the file deviceemulator-preri.bat to run KITL over ETHERNET.     - Interrupt mechanism in "PCI to Serial driver" fails in WinCE 5.0 I am working on the "PCI to serial driver" that is an "I/O" based driver in CEPC(x86). "PCI to Serial driver" is 16550 compatable. I got the PCI part working and got instance of Template in the registry as well. I got all the resources like IOBase address and SysIntr and Irq number. Note:I have read all the values of serial port registers they are all correct. Now i wanted to Test the interrupt mechanism for serial driver by enabling THR empty interrupt. I envoke my Handler that is "IST" by calling the CreateThread. I used InterruptInitialise and gave the first parameter value (i,e Sysintr)as i got from instance of Template when PCI driver was loaded. InterruptInitialise registers the interrupt that calls successfully the OEMInterruptEnable and returns TRUE. My IST is initialised and waiting for event from the interrupt. Now i use WRITE_PORT_UCHAR with the first parameter as "baseaddress+offset of IER register" and second parameter as the value 0x2(will set IER for THR empty interupt), That makes my system hangs...:-( The interrupt is getting generated properly but seems no handler to relieve the interrupt. But i have already envoked my Handler in CreateThread function before interruptInitialise. Do i have to do something in OAL? How can i register the interrupt in CEPC for my device. I'm trying to disable PB's "Loaded/Unloaded symbols for..." debug messages, which aren't useful to me right now and just clutter up the Output window. Somehow I had disabled them previously, but after I cloned a BSP and starting working with the cloned BSP on the same OS Design, these messages started appearing again. I *do* want to see, and I am currently seeing, the debug messages from my application, and I do want to use Remote Tools. It's just those 'symbols loaded/unloaded' messages that I'm trying to turn off.     - Block driver I have a 128MB nandflash. I want to write a block driver for this flash. However, I need to separate this flash to 3 storage( DSK1, DSK2, DSK3). For example, BINFS(part00) for system data, FATFS (part00) for Registry files and FATFS(part00) for User data.     - PCMCIA issue We are developing a board with a Windows Ce 6.0 OS. It has PXA 27X core, with peripherals like WLAN, BT, GPS and lot of other stuff. The WLAN module is a CF card from Summit Communications and they have provided the driver for that also. We are able to work with that in normal mode. But problem comes when you suspend and resume the board. The client is going into D2 state and is not at all responding. Regarding this problem, the vendor has suggested WLAN client driver to be reloaded after a suspend/ resume cycle. I am quite not sure how to do that, as PCMCIA client drivers are not normally loaded by ActivateDevice() function. Normally when we take out and insert a CF card in to the slot, the pcc_serv.dll will detect this insertion and load the corresponding the driver. But since out board will be inside a rigid plastic, taking out and insertion of the card is not possible.     - SVGA, LCD, Win CE 6.0 and PB Hi, The orignal discussion of my problem is listed under "A black strip on right side of LCD" which may be too long to read. So, I summarize my problem and findings in one post here: The problem: I run Win CE 6.0 on an AMD CPU based SBC (Single board computer) board. I've got a black (blank) strip (100 pixels wide) at the right side of the LCD covering (or say, cut off) portion of the desktop image. What I've found: 1) I've got full 800 pixel wide desktop image when I run Win XP on the same board with the same LCD. 2) The BIOS image on the LCD is fine. It extends to the edge of the LCD screen. 3) I drive a CRT and an LCD simultaneously. While I have a black (blank) strip on the LCD, the image on CRT is ok (full 800 pixels wide). 4) When I select the LCD resolution setting in BIOS, the LCD clock rate and synch signals change accordingly. I have measured the timing of each signals at different settings. They were correct for that setting. Only the SVGA setting gives me a stable LCD display. The change of LCD modes in BIOS affects image size on CRT but Iâ??ve got a full desktop image on CRT no matter what LCD mode I select. 5) I played with resolution settings in boot.ini (w/ BIOS set at SVGA). Except the 800x600 setting, every other setting (higher or lower) actually shows a smaller image on both (CRT and LCD) screens with black (blank) strips all round. The actual resolution changes accordingly. On LCD screen in addition to the blank strip I still lose 1-2% desktop image at the right side (with SVGA setting, I lose 100/800=12.5%. What I lose is excatly the width of the blank strip). 6) Under SVGA resolution, if I move the mouse pointer behind the blank strip and do right-click, I can bright up a menu window. So, to the mouse, the screen resolution is SVGA. 7) My board can not read EDID. If I set BIOS read customer EDID, the LCD display is blank. The help I need: 1) Can anyone guess who the possible culprit of this problem is? 2) How can I troubleshoot (trace) this problem with PB? My board vendor thinks this is a display driver problem. But they use AMD BSP and they don't have detailed information (e.g. source code) about the driver. I doubt this is a display driver problem. Maybe I am wrong but I would think different display driver may provide some special features such as being efficient in some regards. But all of them should be able to drive a full desktop image, especially the display driver provided by AMD which should at least be tested for generic capabilities. Right? Hey, I am stuck.
