Wince.net 4.2 image configuration
Hi
At the moment we are having to generate a number of images;
1) One that contains Internet Explorer, and has a shortcut on the
desktop and the start menu.
2) One that doesn't have IE but as Pocket Word and a shortcut on the
desktop, and autostarts on a coldboot
The list goes on.
What I want to do is generate an image that has all features included
IE, WORD etc... I can build an image that fits into the ROM 32MB that we
have.
I would then like to run an application or control panel applet that
would allow me to configure options such as put the WORD shortcut on the
desktop and the start menu. Or launch IE on a coldboot.
Any help would be appreciated

Why is default file system BINFS in "ResidentFlash" ?

usb mass storage class
Hi, all,
Can you give me a hand in the usb mass storage class driver? I have a
Philips ISP1160 USB host on an Intel PXA25x custom board. I used the drive
from Philips and it works well with USB keyboard, USB mouse and USB hubs.
But I have problems with the Lexar 256MB Jumpdrive. I can see that the
USBMSC.dll and USBDISK6.dll loaded. But I can't see any new folder at the
Windows Explorer. Why is that?
I searched the previous post and found that I don't have
"FSD"="UDFS.DLL" in the registry
[HKLM\Drivers\USB\ClientDrivers\Mass_Storage_Class\2]
and "FSD"="FATFS.DLL" in the
[HKLM\Drivers\USB\ClientDrivers\Mass_Storage_Class\6]
in the registry. Is this the reason? Why aren't they in my registry while
others people have them?

programatically remove desktop icon
I am trying to programatically remove the My Computer and Recycle Bin icons
from the desktop in my
start up "launch" program (launch is run before explorer.exe).
I can see the two keys stored in:

Debugging a multi-threaded application
Hi,
The platform and tools involved here are CE 4.2 running on a CEPC and eVC++
4.00 for program development and debugging.
This is a result of further testing on the problem in my previous post. I
created a small project with two very simple threads. The main process
creates a second thread which simply loops through incrementing a counter
and sleep for 100 ms. The main thread is in a loop with a 100 ms. sleep.
If I put a break point in the main thread and begin stepping through the
loop, the second thread stops executing. I can see this because the counter
value no longer increments. If I resume the main thread for a few seconds
and then break it again I can see that the counter has been incremented.
I sincerely hope this is a problem that can be fixed if I apply all the
QFE's to my platform. If not, the platform is essentially useless to us.
We do real-time machine control and our applications depend heavily on
multi-thread processes. Debugging these applications will be next to
impossible if all threads stop when one reaches a break point. We have no
problem doing this type of thing with CE 3.00.

I am using National Semiconductor's dp83815. However CE
4.2 doesn't detect an instance of it in my registry. But
VMINI works. I've tried both microsoft's driver and

Unimodem GPRS Connection
Dear All:
I meet problem while want to make GPRS connection.
GPRS module connects with COM1 and we can use AT commands to control GPRS
module. But while dial up to server, it fails. The some configuration works
on Windows2000.
Can somebody give some suggestion?

Bluetooth Printing in CE4.1
I'm potentially going to be asked to work on a driver for a bluetooth
printer for a device running CE4.1. I haven't worked with Bluetooth or
printers previously, and I'd appreciate any insight anybody could provide.
At this point, I don't know what the target printer(s) will be, or what
interface(s) they support.
- My understanding is that bluetooth printing would typically take place
across a bluetooth serial connection, is that correct? Are there other
bluetooth printing interfaces that would be supported in a CE environment?
- I believe CE ships a PCL driver, so if the target printer supports PCL
then the driver portion is complete. The exercise would be getting it to
work across the bluetooth interface. How is this normally accomplished?
- It looks like the Bluetooth stack has been enhanced in 4.2, what issues am
I likely to run into with a device running 4.1 with respect to Bluetooth
communications?

Lock On Boot ce 5.0 Newbie.

I'm a bit of a newbie; to platform builder.
I am experimenting with CE 5.0 building a CE PC.
The CE project that I created is based on the internet applicance
profile. & I am building the project on the same PC that I intend to
make as a CEPC.
I have a PC with the following installed:
Ne2000 network card
dual IDE HD's.
Vesa compliant graphics card.
1394 card.
Soundblater Live (and onboard motherboard audio).
My boot freezes up about 20 drivers into the boot process.
How can I get debug information; + what could I be doing wrong?

that following folders, that were part of the Tech Preview version, are now

ATADISK.dll does not load with the image in CE 4.2
Hello ,
I am using the Windows CE 4.2 with a Geode based board from Advantec.
The board is SOM-4450F.
I am able to create a new bsp and download and boot the image but am
not able to see my Compact Flash card. I am trying to work with a
headless image and it seems that when the image boots up , the PCMCIA
driver gets unloaded.
Is this the reason why I am not able to load ATADISK.DLL and see the
Storage Card or I am missing something very basic ?
I would really appreciate if someone can throw some light on this
problem.

I have a commercial library supplied without .pdb's.
I get a lot of warning when I link in the library like...

Interrupt Being Disabled while Debugging?
Hi,
I'm in the process of porting our machine control code from CE 3.00 to CE
4.2. Our platform is a CEPC.One of our modules is an ActiveX object that
provides control of servo motors. This object, when created, sets up an
interrupt service thread that handles communication between the CEPC and the
Servo hardware via dual port RAM.
On the 3.00 platform, we could debug through the application program that
creates the instance of the ActiveX object with no problem. With the 4.2
platform, it appears that the interrupt is being held off whenever a break
point in the application is encountered. Any suggestions as to what might
be causing this? I've tried the testing on two systems to try to eliminate
hardware, but both exhibit the same problem. Both the 3.00 and 4.2 systems
use platforms we built. There are only small differences between these
platforms and the "Standard" CEPC platform. The hardware is identical on
both systems.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

our custom Xscale 80200 board. I thought the best way to do it is to clone
existing BSP and modify.

Weird Problem: Duplicate Registry Entries for RTL8139
Hi Folks,
We're having a problem with our 4.2 system that has left me scratching
my head. Here is the problem as detailed by our apps engineer who found
the issue:
"I've been testing the IP Adapter problem this morning, and as we
theorized last night, every time I move the DiskOnChip from an old rev
Lanner to a new rev one, and back, it (WinCE) adds an adapter and
increments the instance ID (in the registry). And it does the same thing
if I move it from the new back to the old Lanner board.
Old Lanner: RTL81391
New Lanner: RTL81392
Old Lanner: RTL81393

New Lanner: RTL81398
Old Lanner: RTL81399
The interesting thing, is that once it gets to ...9, if I put it in a
different Lanner rev, it CAN'T increment the instance number, and CE

network icon on the taskbar isn't even there, and there isn't one in
the Control Panel."
Note: there are ONLY two boards with fixed (soldered on the board)
RTL8139 Ethernet chips.
I've looked in the QFE's and can't find anything that specifically
addresses this issue. Nor have I found anything by Googling.
Any thoughts?

IMediaPosition::put_Rate does it work?
Hi,
I'm implemented an embedded media player and I need to do a fast forward
control. I came across IMediaPosition::put_Rate but instead of speeding up
my playback it seems to stop it. Is this implemented in CE4.2 ?
If i can't do this then i suppose the best i can do is a skip forward by a
number of minutes but that will be very clunky.

I want to download the image with out using Platform Builder 4.2. I am using EBOOT comes along with WinCE 4.2 .NET.
Is it possible to use any standard TFTP Server to download my OS image (NK.bin) in to target hardware?

whenever i try playing wave files of larger size [aroung 5MB or so] after i
played few wavefiles of smaller sizes [around 10-100KB], i get an exception,
that reads as, in a message box:
First chance exception in NK.EXE
(0xC0000005: Access violation)
and [kernel debugger is enabled] the debugger stops @ GrabFirstPhysPage
function in physmem.c
file of private\winceos\coreos\nk\kernel folder.
and if i play the larger size wave files prior to smaller files, it plays
well.
any reasons?

Reg. uibase.lib and keybd_event
Hi
I am facing a problem where in i want to use keybd_event() in my keypad IST. Now the problem is i am not able to link the Uibase.lib library to my keypad pdd file. I don't have that library in my project folders. How ever I can find the library file in WINCE420\PUBLIC\COMMON\SDK\LIB\ARMV4\DEBUG. Now my question is how can i include this library into my project folder so that i can include it in my Keypad IST.

Most tests will focus around device drivers, but new to the Windows CE 5.0
test kit are 3 BSP level tests, which you fill find under the OAL
Categories.
There are also the following diagnostic tools available in the kit:

2. CPUMon: CPU monitoring tool
3. Stress: Device and OS stressing tool

Licensing question
I've got a MS document named "New runtime licensing model for Windows CE.NET 4.2" that describes the various licensing options.
What confuses me is that the core license includes the "Standard Shell" component but not the "AYGShell API Set".
In PB 4.2 I can't select the "Standard Shell" component without also adding "AYSShell API Set" due to component dependencies.
This seems contradictionary to me.
Could someone help me out of my darkness?

Hi,
I would like to know if there's a simple way to create .CAB file under a
Windows CE target, to export them later. I found wceload/unload to
manage .CAB file imported, but no tools to create our own CAB files.
Any idea ?

Is it possible to use USB RNDIS to send tcp/udp/ip data via host as a gateway?
Has anyone done the title mentioned thing before? I am wondering if the
following scheme workable:
A tcp/udp socket application running on CE device that can access external
internet through USB connected to a host PC. As the USB ActiveSync passthru
cannot send out udp data, I am wondering if USB RNDIS can solve this
problem.
Any comments appreciated.

My bsp is modified by Xsc1bd .
I modified ..\Mybsp\DRIVERS\KBDMOUSE\KBDXSCXTMSENGUS1\sources ,
