Hi all,

I'm doing a little research for a customer who wants to use EAP-TLS and AES
over 802.11 wireless LAN.

I have an AP that supports AES and I have a wireless card and driver that
supports AES, so I'm just wondering now if the WinCE supplicant will support
it? (I've gotten everything to work using EAP-TLS + TKIP, but so far no luck
with AES.) I know that WinXP has support for WPA2, which mandates AES, but
I haven't found any info on the WinCE support for WPA2 or AES.

Can anyone provide some info?

Thanks a lot!

Michael

Please refer to the PB 5.0's on-line document, Windows CE Features >
Communication Services and Networking > Networking - Local Area Network
(LAN) > Wireless Technologies in Windows CE
Here is the decritopn for the AES support,
Because AES support may not be added to existing wireless devices through a
firmware update, support for AES is optional and is dependant on vendor
driver support.
So in my opnion, the support for AES in Windows CE is implemented by the
WLAN driver.

Windows CE (all versions released to this point) does not support the use of
AES with WPA. TKIP is supported.
WPA2 is also not supported by any released version of CE.

Just to bring some closure to this subject, the answer (as of Sept 2005) is
"no".

I've looked at the detailed packet traces between a WinCE 5.0 client, an AES
capable driver and radio card, and an AES capable AP. During the key
exchange, the WinCE 5.0 fails to acknowledge the GTK key exchange packet,
therefore, the AP de-authenticates the WinCE client. (This is in WPA mode).

Hi Michael

I am developing an application for Windows Mobile to connect to WPA-PSK
enabled access points using NDIS . We succeeded in disabling WZC and connect
to unsecure and WEP hotspots, but failed to connect to WPA-PSK and WPA-PSK2.
From your post I understood that you were able to connect to EAP-TLS + TKIP
supported APs. Could you please help/guide me.

Thanks in advance

Pradeep
