    - Running active sync on versalogic python board Does anyone have experience with this board? I am having trouble getting the serial ports to be recognized, which must be why I can't get repllog to interact properly. The indication is that repllog sees the host, but does not send the CLIENT message, apparently. I do not see it using hyperterminal. In target control panel, Network and Dial-Up connections, I use Make New Connection in order to see the available COM ports, but nothing showed up except the Dial-Up modem connection. In the initial build of an Internet Appliance, the only device driver added was Com16550. I tried adding the second and third instance as well as Com_Card. Now Make New Connection shows Dial-Up and Direct Connection. Selecting Direct Connection reveals that COM2 and COM3 are listed as "Serial Cable on COM2" and "Serial Cable on COM3". Still no response with repllog. I can get messages out of COM1 at 115kB. Usually it says "OEMIoControl: Unsupported C ode 0x1010024 - device 0x0101 func 9" Any and all help would be appreciated.     - file operation across USB mass storage -- USB (Msc) experts and MS hi, W.r.t USB stack, let's say some IO operation is in one of the following layers (USBDisk6, USB mass storage client driver, USBD) when the system is suspended. Note that this means the IO call has crossed the Storage Manager level where PNPUnloadDelay plays a role. When my system resumes, it is natural that HCD intimates USBD that the device has been removed and then added (to avoid the cases where USB devices are changed physically before resume). As far as I could see, a> this implies that USBD unloads the client drivers and reloads them again as required. b> there 's also no power cycle related blocking for IO calls in either USBDISK6, USBMSC and USBD. They directly return ERROR_ACCESS_DENIED if they find that the device is removed. I feel this is very much correct as in case of removable cases (USB), none of these layers have the intelligence to know whether the device is still present or has been replaced with something other USB device during the suspend cycle. Does this mean that it's natural and OK to expect IO calls to fail when the system is suspended after they pass through the storage manager level? Or is there something that can be done to still make them work? Any input with be highly appreciable. Any parallel's to other storage related stacks? regards, joseph.     - Mouse & keyboard support for headless platform This may seem like an odd request, but is it possible to add USB mouse and keyboard support for a headless device? It looks like I can do it with null display device, but that causes some problems (pulls in lots of extra code which isn't used, applications may think that there is a UI to which they can send messages). Our device is remote from the display, but may act as the connection point for a mouse & keyboard. We take input from both mouse & keyboard and pass it over a network connection to another device which mimics a USB mouse or keyboard to some other host system that ultimately drives the display.     - Problem in debug mode CE6 Windows Embedded CE6 System iMx31 128 mb RAM (custom platform) Ethernet BOOT Image has a standard Shell and use ObjectStore. Kitl enabled on Ethernet When I try a retail image (also kitl enabled on Ethernet), it works perfectly but the same image in debug mode stop after: "Windows CE KernelInit". I check inside OALTimerIntrHandler function and strangly, CurMSec is initialize with a large value: 0xFFFCF2C0 (in RETAIL this value is 0). I try to initialize CurMSec earlier in OemInit and after this sysIntr is set to SYSINTR_RESCHED. But the system Hangs anyway. It's like there some corruption in kernel globals.     - Problem with symbol loading Hi, I just installed Platform Builder 5.0 and Post Mortem Debugger. When I'm opening kdmp file, it's opening without any trouble, but I cannot see any symbols loaded when I run the project. It just shows ProgramName!Address I have map files and executables in the same directory. I tried to enter path to map files, and load symbols again, but it does not help.     - StallExecution strange timing Hi, i tried to implement a thread that blinks LEDs on a CEPC parallel port. It all works fine, but seems like the StallExecution() timing is quite strange. According to MSDN, the parametor should be in microseconds, but when i call it with 1.000.000 microseconds (1 second) i get almost 10 seconds of waiting interval. I'm also calling the calibrate function before using the StallExecution. Is it ok? Another quite strange thing is that, i'm using this at startup. Seems like the behavior of this loop is not like a thread, because windows stops loading at the point i start my thread, but the thread actually works! The debug output shows: ...     - Window s CE Access Point and Reference Gateway User Interface Hi. I'm trying to configure my Windows CE gateway as an access point. I've added the "Access Point" component as stated in the documentation, as well as the "Reference Gateway User Interface", configured the bridge, etc, but I can't get it to work. I've tried playing around with the "Reference Gateway User Interface" HTML pages and find that I can't access the wifi pages. Each time I call them they result in HTML errors. What I'm trying to determine is if these errors are due to a misconfiguration of the wifi on my behalf or if these sample pages are known NOT to work. Also, I have a subsidiary question : is it necessary to have a special Wifi driver in order to act as an access point or will any wifi driver that works on Windows CE do the job? In advance, thanks.     - Using FP_VOIP module in CE6 R2 Hi, I am trying to test the new VOIP application suite in CE6 Release 2 on the device emulator. The image compield without any errors. When i load the image on the emulator, the voip provisioning application starts and then it closes immediately. I tried starting the homescreen application directly from the windows directory, but it does not startup. I was able to use the old voip application on CE5 image successfully.     - Detecting TFAT file system corruption - possible? I have an OEM generated Win CE 5.0 image with TFAT support. I think. The only reason I think I have TFAT is that my flash is sporadically becoming corrupt (no power loss that I know of), and I can only fix it from me CE hardware. Anyway, something is corrupting my flash rendering it unbootable. I do no fancy I/O - simple file writes from time to time, lot's of reads. The only way to fix the CF is to remove all the files (using the CE hardware) and re-write. Doing this seems to recover the file system and all is well for days/weeks until it happens again. Is there a way to detect when TFAT fails to write all of the data necessary and has to rollback the previous operation? What exactly is meant by the term intermediate? We pulled the source code off the internet. Thanks I found a ridiculous comment that indicates to me that the developer was somewhat clueless: In the meantime, I suggest using lots of caution if you need to modify the mini-port handler as it seems awfully touchy. That tells me the developer never really figured out what was causing the problem to begin with, but just tried a bunch of different things, and figured that as long as his executable doesn't break, it is fixed.     - Slow Image download Hi, I recently moved my development environment to a DELL XPS M1330 (Broadcom networking card). Everything works well except for one small problem. For some reason the download rate of an OS image is much slower compared to my previous desktop. the download speed is around 50% slower. I saw this problem with two different PXA270 board configurations. The setting are ,as far as I can tell, the same as the desktop's. I am using Ethernet for both the download and transport settings in the connectivity configuration menu. The standard download rate is 1.5MB p/s (compared to 800 on the DELL) and I know that the Ethernet port has works much faster with other applications. Please advise. I installed the above product rollup and the documentation for it includes 060210_KB913434 - Under heavy stress conditions, a WriteFile to a TFAT volume may sometimes return ERROR_DISK_FULL even though there is plenty of free space on the media. 060210_KB913434 - TFAT volume corrupts when multiple threads write files under the same directory. 1) if that is the case why I'm getting a disk full error when I try to write to a file from a single thread faster(46 kb file read and written back say 90-100 times continuosly). I have a lot of free space avaialble ? 2) I installed the rollup update in a different PC and I copied the entire WINCE frame to a new PC where PB 5.0 is already present. I built the OS. I hope this is ok and has nothing to do with the issue. Update for the issue will still be present in new pc even though I copied the frame and did not install in the new pc ?     - USB Problem when using a Philips ISP1521 based hub (CE5) We are using a TI TUSB3410 USB to Serial chip and recently identified an issue when using this device with a Philips based ISP1521 based Hub. On the USB-IF Developers Discussion Forum a post was made that matches our problem exactly. This post also has a statement that Philips apparently made which states the issue is that the Windows USB host controller driver. Looks like METHOD_OUT_DIRECT/METHOD_IN_DIRECT is not supported under windows CE according to documentation. However, for CE 5.0 there is refernce to METHOD_OUT_DIRECT in some CDROM driver in Public\Common for CD driver. For CE 6.0 there is refernce to the same for touch screen driver.     - Debugger Serial Output I have my target device connected to my development computer via ethernet connection. I am not getting any debugger messages from my serial ports.     - Wince 6.0 Webserver hangs up Hi, IÂ´ve ported my project from Wince 5.0 to 6.0, after a little adaptation all excepting the webpart works fine. The project is based on the gateway template and iÂ´m using an adapted version of remoteadmin. The wizard of the remote admin starts very slow and the SetTime Page needs also a relative long time to get displayed by the browser. The browsing of my ASP pages results in hanging up the Webserver. The first ASP page was quickly displayed, but the second is never displayed. When i first choose the second ASP page then this page works but choosing then the first page fails. This is only the behavior under a release build, under a debug build the ASP pages are working. Under Wince 5.0 the remoteadmin works faster and my ASP pages works well. Any ideas?     - NK.BIN doesn't work after a reinstallation of CE 6.0 Hi, I use Windows Embedded CE 6.0 and I have a Platform and a Kernel based on PXA270 and Mainstone III. Last Week my PC died, so i Reinstall all Windows CE 6.0 Platform builder and any update (i have mantained updated the platform builder during my work). Then i take my Backup (i have a full copy of the OSDesign Kernel directory and a full copy of Platoform Directory) and copy it in OsDesign and Platoform folder. I made a Clean of thge solution and a Sysgen and i get a NK.BIN of the same size as the backupped one. So i put this kernel and his bootloader on my device. It starts but as Windows Ce appear in the monitor i see only Icon on my desktop without any string.     - Is the size of the Storage Memory limited? I am using the control panel applet "System" to adjust the storage memory. If I increase the Storage Memory to use more than 50% of my RAM close and reopen the applet the value of the Storage Memory is limited. The slider has moved automatically to the middle. On the other hand it is no problem to decrease the Storage Memory. At the moment it looks like this that I can not use more than 50% of my RAM for Storage Memory. I have 256MB RAM installed and the Storage Memory can't be bigger than 128MB. Reproduce: * Start the control panel applet "System" * Switch to the tab "Memory" * Move the slider to the right side. Use as much Storage Memory as posiible. * Close the control panel applet. * Open the control panel applet again. * If I check the memory slider I can see that the slider is moved to the middle again. So the Storage Memory is limited. This effect happens if I use the automatically detection of RAM in my BSP (function IsDram in memory.c). If I use a fixed memory configuration this problem does not appear. I am using WinCE6.0 RC2. I have never seen this effect in any of my WinCE4.2 and WinCE5.0 images. Is this a new feature? The ce help is installed under the Visual studio help system: you can open
it via VS folder in start\programs\...
