Hi all,
I'm currently working on retrofitting wireless comms. into our WinCE
4.2 product that wasn't initially designed with it in mind. One of the
avenues I'm trying is bluetooth to a GPRS phone.
We don't have BT build in but do have a Compact Flash slot, and I've
suceeded in setting up connectivity using a BT CF card (the SocketCom
one) connecting to an iMate smartphone (running MS PocketPC 2003).
Our box is designed for industrial environment and to that end has a
latched aluminium cover over the CF slot to provide a weather/dust
proof seal. When the box and phone are sitting next to each other on
my bench the BT connection still seems to "work" regardless of whether
the cover is open or closed, but I really need to quantify how much of
a negative effect the cover is having. If it was a significant problem
we could potentially redesign with a plastic cover that was more
transparent to RF energy.
Before I head off on a tangent for a few weeks writing my own test
application, can anyone
point me in the direction of any existing test software that would
quantify BT connection "quality" for me (presumably a client/server
pair of apps. - one to run on our box and the other to run on the
PocketPC/WinXP desktop/whatever
Thanks
