Hi,

What are the steps needed for active sync over serial in Windows Mobile.

Active sync over IR is working fine in Windows Mobile. (In windows mobile,
active sync application has the option to connect over IR).

In windows CE, first we will make a new connection, using Dial up and
Networking from Control panel, over the specified serial port and will make
that connection as default.

Do we have anything similar in Windows Mobile.

Thanks in advance,
San

I think you're targeting the wrong group for this question.
microsoft.public.pocketpc.activesync seems like a better target.

Are you sure that this WM device *has* a serial port? If so, presumably the
option to select that port would be given in the ActiveSync application *on
the device*, under the Connections... dialog.

Serial driver is working fine with four UARTs. Serial port is connected to
the hyper terminal and data can be seen in the hyper terminal.

In WM, I found option to connect over IR and Bluetooth but couldn't locate
connect over serial/UART. In the connections tab we don't have option to make
a new connection over the serial driver.

Let me where I am missing something?

Thanks & Regards,

No WM5 devices that I know of *have* serial ports, so it's possible that the
device doesn't do that without some work. It used to be that you'd set up a
new connection in the Network Connections applet, point it to the serial
port you wanted to use, set the baud rate, etc., then select that named
connection to be used to connect to the PC (where "USB" is currently
selected in the ActiveSync application on the WM device). You might try to
do that with your device, but I still don't know where your serial ports are
coming from.

You mean to say that normally WM devices donâ??t have serial port or not
supporting active sync over serial. In my case I am using the same hardware
for Windows CE and Windows mobile and active sync working fine in Windows CE.

The steps mentioned for active sync is for windows CE.

My understanding is that, on the connections tab of WM has to give an option
to make a new connection over serial. I feel I missed to add some component
in the WM image and that causes missing of one option in the connect tab.

Please comment on my thoughts.

Thanks
San

They have no serial port. I don't understand what you're saying, but
suspect that you're trying to do something without the hardware to
accomplish it.
