    - Outlook pop3 problem. what to do? I have three computers in the office each with oulook 2003 and different email accounts. suddenly one of them would send or recieve emails. I looked at the email account and tried test email It stopped and jammed on find incoming mail server (pop3) and lo onto incoming mail server(pop3) i had to click stop and then shut down of outlook to stop the computer being jammed. I then took the emails off. I ran a virus check of the computer and cleaned out a trojan. I put the emilas onto another computer and they worked fine. i have just tried to put them back but same problem. Any help or ideas of what i need to do would be most helpful.     - Best pract: changing client pc cache exch mode to stand alone w/o My server went out at about same time as business went under and my NetAdmin provider cut me my acct. I was using cache exch mode with SBS 2003 and have since been working disconnected, but am encountering increasing problems/errors like, "Outlook has not finished synchronizing local changes made to items in this folder. You cannot delete this folder until the synchronization with the server is complete." The Dell server is/was the domain controller but I am no longer using corp email or accessing files on the server. My machine has two ways to log on (locally and domain) and, although I access all of my main files by logging on to my computer with the domain log on, they must be on my hard drive - since they have been accessible since the server's RAID died.     - Configure cached mode for additional mailboxes configured on a pro I'm working on a big Exchange consolidation project. I'm configuring the user profile to have the cached mode enabled. All clients are Outlook 2003. Some users need to access their personal mailboxes and another functional mailbox but when I configure the cached mode it works for the user mailbox only.     - Detect and Repair has lost my .pst file!!! I needed to do a detect and repair in Excel which seems to also have reconfigured things in Outlook.     - Outlook 2007 wakes up portable hard drive I have a Dell 830 latitude laptop running Vista Business in a docking station. I use the reading pane. I have a USB (Western Digital) hard drive attached. At regular intervals this hard drive goes to sleep. This is built in to the drive itself and does not appear to be a part of Windows power management. If the drive is asleep, and I scroll to some, but not all, e-mails, the drive will wake up and Outlook will freeze for the 7 or 8 seconds it takes for the drive to wake. This happens multiple times during the daya and is very annoying. Although I'm not certain, the common factor on the e-mails that cause this appears to be that they have one or more embedded images. This includes every internal corporate e-mail as everyone uses the same signature that includes an image. Does anyone know how to stop Outlook from doing this?     - Outlook 2007 hangs I know this has been addressed before, but there has not been a solution that has helped. Last week I upgraded Office Ulitmate 2007 over Office 2003. All works well except Outlook, it always hung on configuring accounts. I left it run for hours. It opened in safe mode and worked OK, but that is not an ideal solution. I have tried: a new profile, I renamed .dat files to .old (four files: outcmd, extend,views, I forgot the other file), disabled all addins including BCM, deleted the iTunes addin, tried with and w/o UAC, tried opening as administrator, I shut the anti-virus down, I cleanned out the registry. All MS updates and Office 2007 SP are installed. But, it still froze at configuration. Today I booted Vista Home P. in safe-mode (F5) and opened Outlook, the configuring worked, and Outlook opened. Too easy! I rebooted in normal mode, but now Outlook begings to open and now freezes (spash screen opens and the title bar opens but nothing else). Even with a new mail profile, nothing. In safe mode, it still works. Do I delete and reinstall? Do I delete 2007, reinstall 2003 then delete that? Do I live with safe mode? Sorry this is long, I am at a loss!     - Migrating Outlook Hi, I am having problems with a domain login on my PC. For some reason, the password suddenly stopped working. As I work remotely, I can't work out any way to fix this easily (although I've not given up, yet, and have a question trying to get an answer on that one). One suggestion was that I create a local user on my laptop - it won't solve the login problem, but will let me work around the issues. I can easily copy data files and the settings across. But I have a problem with migrating my outlook. I connect, via VPN, to an exchange server. I've got rather large email files sitting on that server, so I don't want to go through the process of having to resynch the entire account. The local file is near on a GB. I can access the data files easily enough, but I can't log in to the old user. I was wondering if there was any way I could move those to the new user account and copy the existing outlook settings. After a quick google, all of the instructions require me to log-in on the old set-up, something I'm unable to do. If there is a way to do this, could someone please point me to some instructions on how to do this? Oh, some technical details. I'm using XP Pro - I have admin access on the machine. We are using outlook 2003 (I'm not sure on the subversion information) and I think we use Small Business Server 2003 for the exchange end. Thanks, Geoff.     - Complete Uninstall of Office 2003 I have a number of clients that over time have somehow created multiple contacts folders and Outlook 2003 starts having problems. Manual deletion of the contacts causes more difficulties. Uninstall of Office/Outlook doesn't completely remove every marker, especially in the Registry, and previous problem creep is common. Is there a knowledgebase document or any step-by-step for doing a 100% removal of Office/Outlook so that you can get a fresh start rather than try to fix/troubleshoot the existing install?     - Changing PST max file size for Outlook 2007 I have a user who we are moving from Eudora 6.0 to Outlook 2007. Problem is file size. Their file size in Eudora is almost 5gigs. I was following the article at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/832925/ but ran into a snag when looking for the following location in the registry: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Outlook\PST The closet I get is: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft They list a user preference location: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Outlook\PST Of which I get: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Outlook The question is would I be correct in assuming I would add the required values to the user preference instead.     - installing MS Office 2007 60 day trial I have used 2003 for years. When I downloaded this trial, I lost my 2003 Outlook and the 2007 Outlook didn't install. There was no help at microsoft unless I wanted to pay $119.99- great support- thanks. Fortunately a wonderful young man at Dell helped me restore my system to its pre-2007 download condition. My problem is eventually I'll want to update my Office Suite- only I'm still too fragile to make that attempt right now. Has anyone had a similar problem? and if so how did you solve it?     - Outlook 2003 Crashes adding Account I realize there are many posts about Outlook 2003 crashing, but I cannot find something that addresses this topic. If I open Outlook 2003 where there are no accounts setup (pop3, etc...) it works just fine. However, as soon as I add a new account, it crashes and wants to startup in "safe mode". What is causing it to crash? I have setup a new profile and a new .pst file but this does not fix the problem. As a side note in case it matters... Originally I had Outlook 2003 installed and decided to upgrade to 2007. Since I have not been happy with the 2007 version, I uninstalled Outlook 2007 and reinstalled Outlook 2003.     - Can't send emails! Please help! I receive emails in my outlook; however, I am unable to SEND them. They end up just getting stuck in my "outbox". I have no idea what is wrong. I have contacted AT&T, then Toshiba. I have checked the SSL settings and the authentication settings on the Outgoing Server tab and I have played around with checking the "this server requires an encrypted connection to SSL". I have fiddled around under Email account and outgoing server settings. I have no idea why my emails aren't sending. My outlook was working perfectly well until last Thrusday. Any suggestions?     - Outlook Send/Receive files (outlook.srs) query... We are running Outlook 2007 on client machines with Exchange 2007 Ent. Ed. server. Our users application data folders are re-directed to a network share. We've noticed that the \\servername\sharename$\application data\microsoft\outlook folders for all of our users contain numerous outlook.srs files. Doing a search for SRS files on this share finds literally thousands of these files (our user base is around 400). I understand that these are files related to Send/Recieve settings. However, our users only use a single outlook profile and the Outlook profile that was rolled out to all client machines contains no specific Send/Recieve settings. Each time a user logs on and starts Outlook for the first time, an addtional outlook SRS file is created (file name is appended with a tilde [~] and incrementing numbers) and the original is retained.     - Message Rules Changed when brought from Express I just moved from Express to Outlook and imported all of the rules and everything else except the blocked senders list which seems impossible to do. When the rules are brought into Outlook all of the rules that used the (and/or) function in the rule have been changed to just and.     - Using Outlook Msg as a file Hi, My customer has been using Outlook 2003 with Windows XP. For years he has used "drag&drop" to move Outlook messages to the appropriate My Documents sub folder to keep a record of his client information. The messages have attachments like pdf, pps, wmv, etc. He could easily click on the file document to open Outlook and then click on the attachment to run the pdf, pps, etc. I have refreshed his computer with Outlook 2007 with VISTA Business. Now he can still read attachments to messages in Outlook. After "drag&drop" he still can read messages in his document sub folders. However, now he can't open the attachments. If he moves the message back into Outlook he again can read the attachments.     - After installing office 2007 - the paper doesnt come correct out Hey guys. Does anyone of you have experience in having problems after installing the new office 2007 standard edition, that the paper prints out of the wrong tray, eventhough I have set the print settings to for example : tray 3 - and no matter how much I try, the paper comes out of tray 1 ?!     - Outlook 2007 will not open except in safe mode - new problem I installed Office 2007 several months ago and have been using with no problem at all. Suddenly -for no apparent reason when I shut down or restart normally (i.e., closing all programs and choosing shut down or restart) - when I restart Outlook will not open... it gets to a certain point and then it just freezes. If I try to do anything else, the entire computer freezes. When I hold the power button to shut it off, then turn it back on, I get the message that Outlook did not shut down properly and I can open in safe mode. I do that, but do not have all the functionality. I've put my Office 2007 disk in and run the repair option several times, but doesn't make any difference. Any other ideas?     - Recover Outlook 2003 PST File in Outlook 2007 Background: Several weeks ago the RAID 0 array on my home computer crashed (hard drive failure) and my motherboard setup would not allow me to boot, even with the RAID array disconnected. I was running MS Office 2003 Pro with Windows XP (fully updated). Because the computer (home built) was ready to be replaced anyway, I did so. The replacement computer is running Windows Vista (32 bit) fully updated and Office 2007 Pro. I was able to place the C hardrive and a secondary harddrive (not part of the RAID 0 array) in enclosures and can access the data, although not the programs or certain items on the C drive listed as "protected." I was also able to access an external harddrive with some backup data. Status: After installing Office 2007 Pro I was able to import from several backup PST files from Outlook 2003, but these backups did not contain the most recent data. I can see the most recent PST files on the old C drive (now: I:\Documents and Settings\"user"\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook\Outlook1.pst) from the Office 2003 installation. When I attempt to import the PST files, I receive the message, "File access is denied. You do not have the permission required to access the file I:\Documents and Settings\....... Help needed: I would like to obtain the most recent information on my account contained in these PST files. How do I gain access to the files?     - Uploading Emails Back to the POP Server Hi. I have Microsoft Outlook 2007. I just installed it yesterday. When I opened the program for the first time, it autoconfigured itself to work with my POP and SMTP servers from Yahoo! Mail. Little did I know that when Outlook downloads messages from the POP server, it completely removes them from my inbox on Yahoo! Now need to uninstall Microsoft Office (because it runs too slow on my computer), but I need to save all of my important email messages (1.3 GB worth). How can I transfer all of my emails from Microsoft Outlook back to my Yahoo! inbox so that I don't lose them when Outlook is uninstalled? I greatly appreciate any help in this matter.     - Contacts to Outlook Address After importing my address book into Outlook they show as contacts and are not shown in the Outlook address book. Is there a way to move or copy them into the Outlook address book?     - MIcrosoft Office Outlook 2000 to Outlook 2007 First of all after many attempts of deleting my programs. Both the Microsoft Outlook 2000, Outlook 2003, and also the Outlook Connector. I finally was able to install the Microsoft Office Outlook 2007. But now when attempting to open the program I receive an error message that says: Cannot open your default email folders.     - OK Diane and Peter the Dell version is history Just need help with the original Outlook issue I guess you did not grasp what I was saying. The computer with the Dell OEM version is not the computer I am having the issue with and have ceased using it since I had been informed I don't "own" that particular copy. That is version 2003 and the computer I have the sending issue with has 2002 running and it is a VALID purchased version of Office To be perfectly honest I could screenshot the thing and show I had only started that one twice. The screenshot would show that I was on the 3rd start of Office of course but please take my word it is not in use. I suppose I could have installed the older 2002 version that is on the box with the issue while I reformatted and re-installed XP Pro, which I own 8 legitimate copies of for my business. Or I could have "retired" one of the other machines to accomplish the same thing and re-re-tired it when I got my main personal home machine up and running again. I was only going to use the other computer as a stand-in while I reformatted and re-installed the XP OS on my main computer. I wouldn't expect to go back to a computer with a 1.0 ghz P-III. I only installed it so I could retrieve my e-mail while I gathered up all the drivers and such for my NEWEST computer about 9 months old. I have put off doing it as it has 6 HD's, and I was also going to swap the video card so I can get a digital signal to my 2 monitor set-up. My ATI Hydavision only sends analog. I have since purchased a 2 DVI port card. So add that to the fact I am a big procrastinator (perhaps I could be the King of them) Installing all the newer hardware and all drivers is a very time consuming task and for now I just wanted the "band-aid" to fix Outlook. With all that drivel and explaining that I have ceased using the Dell 2003 version do you think you might have a suggestion as to what is keeping me from sending e-mail in Outlook 2002 yet I receive fine plus, it tests fine when in the "edit" screen?     - Getting Back Original Outlook 2007 configuration settings I transfered data from old computer to new and transferred my Outlook 2003 settings. I upgraded from Office 2003 to Office 2007...When I open Outlook I receive
the following error message.

Cannot start processing services. Outlook cannot start because a data file
to send receive mail cannot be found. To add a data file, such as a personal
folder file, double click Mail icon in Windows Control panel.

I follwed these instructions but it did not fix the problem.
Any Help?

In place upgrades are not recommended and do not work with Outlook until
you create a brand new Outlook profile from scratch.
