How To delete mail on the host/server in outlook 2007?
I just experienced a situation where today I clicked the "send/receive"
button and
there was 65,000 email trying to download into my Outlook 2007 inbox.
I have Cox Cable and apparently when I reached about 1/2 GB of email of my 2GB
capacity, something became compromised and I could only download 65,000
email or none at all. It would not allow me to download just the new email
as it had
done each and every time previously.
And, of course, Cox blamed it all on Outlook. However, I tried to delete
one page
of email at a time and I could not do so because it would hang and then time
out and an error page would appear.
I was finally able to delete all 65,000 email using Cox's option to delete
an entire folder. However, it timed out several times before all email were
deleted.
So, MY QUESTION IS THIS: How can I choose to have my email on my Cox
Webmail account deleted when I download email to my Out;look 2007 inbox?
I searched the Help database and I cannot find anything regarding such a
setting.
Thx!

How to transfer .PAB file?
My Outlook 2002 was running on XP system when computer failed. I mounted old
hard drive externally and connected it to my new computer running Vista. I
copied the old files to Outlook 2002 on Vista to the Outlook folder located
at C:\ users \ user name \ appdata \ local \ Microsoft \ outlook
The old files I copied to the outlook folder were extend.dat ; mailbox.PAB
; outlook1backup.pst ; outlook1.log
I then pointed Outlook to the outlook1backup.pst file and opened Outlook.
Everything from my old program was there on the Outlook 2002 Vista system
EXCEPT my Personal address book (.PAB file). My contacts are there but my PAB
contains many more e-mail addresses than my contacts.
I would appreciate any help provided in successfully transferring my PAB.
I apologize Brian for starting a new thread but I have struggled mightily to
get this point.
If I can get my .PAB file to work it appears the only remaining item will be
to reconstruct my sending / receiving (POP3 /SMTP) accounts. Correct?
Everything else seems to be there and working. FYI; I have taken your
suggestion and purchased MS Office 2003 from e-bay. Havenâ??t received it yet
but hopefully it will be an improvement over Outlook 2002.

Caching only 2 weeks worth of email within Outlook 2007?
Basically i'm after a setup like you have with Windows Mobile but on my
laptop, for example I want a full outlook configuration on my desktop with
all of my email both current and historic available.
On my laptop I wish for it to only sync the previous 2 weeks worth of email.
This process shouldn't effect the exchange mailbox so all mail is still
available on the desktop machine......

Account info in pst file
The PST file (personal file folder), where Outlook stores email, contact,
calendar, etc information is currently not setup to include account
information. Things like email account setup, or whatever you'd find in the
Accounts window. It's not a big problem when initially setting up your
accounts. When you work in IT like I do, I'm responsible for saving the PST
of a given computer and formatting the hard drive and reinstalling
everything, then replacing the PST. The can happen several times in a year
for any one person's computer. When specifying under Data File Management
(Outlook 2007), I can just add the new PST file and remove the generic one.
But I ALWAYS have to go back in and add the email account information (like
pop3, smtp addresses, usernames, passwords, ports, etc).
Since that naturally relates to the very emails I see in the PST files, can
we include the account info in those files too? If there's a concern about
security, maybe there can be an option in the export settings for PST to not
include account info when exporting (but the info would still reside on the
original PST file under Local Settings/Application Data/...../Outlook/).

We can't open jpeg files sent via e-mail
About a week ago we began to experience problems when trying to open jpeg and
tiff files sent via e-mail. The problem has slowly spready through the
office, but there is no virus, so I'm guessing it may be related to a
Microsoft Update. It doesn't matter what application you try to open the the
file in, it won't open properly (Picture and fax viewer, Photo Manager, IE,
etc. give me a red "X" or say "No preview is available"). However, if you
copy that same file to a server or removable drive to move it from one
computer to another, it can be open and viewed with no problems. It only
affects XP. Our Vista and Mac OS people are fine. Any help will be greatly
appreciated. So far I can't find anything consisted about the security
settings of the affected parties. The only thing everyone has in common is
that they can't view the files when they sent by e-mail, both internal and

NG with OL2007 & WLM
Before Outlook 2007 (OL2007) & Windows Live Mail (WLM), OL & OLE
worked well together for me when I wanted to look at NG posts. OL
would use OLE as the NG reader. Then I could respond and out it went
through OL. I could choose the NG reader from a pull down or a
button. I have NGs I want to view when I'm in OL2007 but I can't add
any NG accounts to OL2007-I can't seem to do the same thing as before.
I will get email from the NG I frequent in OL2007 and I can't see the
series-conversation in the NG without using WLM. I have to use WLM for
NG viewing not sending responses. Unfortunately, both have to be run
in tandem with IE and I really don't want to use two email programs
and IE. You see I can't send a response from WLM as it is denied by
OL2007 and trying to send it through OL2007 doesn't work because it
doesn't recognize the NG name as an address
(microsoft.public.outlook.installation). Just to send this, I had to
go through IE Google Groups to send my questions. Figuring out whether
this is an OL2007 issue or WLM issue is not my fort=E9 so I'm sorry for
the cross post. Any ideas if it is possible or as to how to fix
this? I'd hate to have to disable both programs and find a third
party solution. All these weird MS changes makes me want to by a MAC.

Outlook 2003 "Not Implemented" error
As I can see by my searches on the web I am one of many having this
problem. My Microsoft Outlook was working fine and then, out of the
blue, whenever I try to send a file from and outside program such as

think it may have started when Windows did an update. I swear that
these updates cause more problems that they "fix"!

Downloading work email to my home pc but need to keep copy on serv
Hi,
Outlook is not my strong point so forgive me for stating the obvious in the
following issue:
I run several mailboxes through my outlook at work (outlook 2003).
My IT Department installed a VPN for my on my laptop so that i can access
the server etc from my laptop which is working fine.
I guess I have two options to connect to my work machine. I can either
remote desktop as i connect to the VPN anyway (this is reaaaaaaaaaal slow) OR
i could set up the Micorsoft Exchange Server on my laptop to run through my
VPN.
I chose the latter as remote desktop takes ages plus i only need my mail.
My mailbox at work is set up as follows:
- Mailbox - My Name
(This includes all my folders and is linked to the server. New messages
gets downloaded here)
- Personal Folders
(Thsi includes alll my folders and is saved on the local machine at work)
My problem is:
When i connect to my mail on my laptop through my outlook (2003) it
downloads my mail but then removes it from the server back at work (Mailbox -
My Name)(so it basically saves it on my local machine/laptop.)
I need for it to keep a copy on the server/Mailbox - My Name for filing
puposes.
Again, sorry for stating the obvious - Incredibly urgent so didnt want any
confusion. Tag: hyperlinks don't work in Outlook 2003 Tag: 88313

Outlook 2007 'hangs' when closing
Hello,
New to the group, sorry if this question's already been answered.
When I close Outlook 2007 [part of my Office 2007 Business Suite], the
program closes, but the desktop freezes and the icon remains in the systray.
To work around this, I've been right-clicking in a blank space on the
desktop and selecting 'refresh' and that fixes the problem.
Is there a setting in Outlook I need to tweak to eliminate this issue?
I'm on a clean install of XP Pro SP2 [about 3 weeks ago].
Many thanks,

Outlook 2003 wont start
I recently purchased a new Sony Vaio laptop and it came with a trial version
of office 2007 pre-installed.
I wanted to continue to use my office 2003 so I installed it aswell.
I had been using Office 2003 with no problems until one day I accidentally
opened Outlook 2007 instead of 2003. The program immediatly started to
migrate all the settings from 2003. While I can see all my emails with no
problems, and work as per normal, I do not want to use Office 2007.
I have now also noticed that if I click on any other office file, it
automatically starts Office 2007 instead of my installed 2003. Therefore it
apppears that through me accidentally opening Oulook 2007 it has made Office
2007 my default choice.
Since this occured I have tried to open Outlook 2003 but it presents an
error message and tells me that it cannot start.
How can I use Outlook 2003 again, and reset all the Office defaults back to
Office 2003.
I am using Vista.
Your assistance is greatly appreciated.

Business Contact Manager errors
Bought a new Lenovo T61p with Vista Ultimate. Nice. Bought MS Office
Professional Plus from another party. Permit me to curse the name, children,
and mustache of the product manager that actually authorized features that
are in Professional to be removed from Professional Plus. Idiocy. Anyway, I
had to uninstall the trial version of MS Office Pro, then reinstall MS Office
Pro Plus. Apparently, the uninstall did not remove Business Contact Manager,
or the reinstall installed a crippled version of BCM. Anyway, about five
times a day I get a message "Business Contact Manager for Outlook cannot
complete the action or actions". Now, I don't need BCM. Didn't expect it.
But if the gosh darn uninstall leaves it on my computer, or if the gosh darn
install program installs a crippled version, I'd at least like it not to
interfere with me at intervals designed to remind me that Microsoft product
OFTEN have bugs. So I call MS for support, and because BCM is not in my
office license, they want me to pay $50 to have them help me remove it or
make it unobtrusive! Dudes, that's what uninstall is supposed to do, for
free!
Ok, enough ranting. Can anyone help me by telling me if I can completely
remove BCM from my computer, or completely disable it (so that it won't
remind me to "Update Business Contact Manager", or that "BCM cannot complete
the action or actions..." all the time)?
Microsoft is in a business pickle. Their only hope seems to be to make ever
more complex software, with marginal functionality improvements, so that they
have something "new" to sell. Then they refuse to support the resulting
buggy products.
Kind of wish I'd bought that Apple. :-(

Multiple (same) emails sent continuously
I just started experiencing a problem with Outlook 2007 sending the same
email over and over again. It stays in my Outbox and will deliver that email
every 10 minutes to the same group of people that I sent it to yet it shows
that it wasn't sent. At first it was only happening if I had attachments but
now it is happening w/o attachments and I have to "force" the emails to be

it was sent then delete the email in my Outbox.....never truly knowing if it
was sent or not.

2007 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook) set-up on a wireless router. At

Does anyone know a way to correct this problem w/o uninstalling and
reinstalling Office Standard 2007? I'm told I have to do that in order to
correct the corrupted Outlook program but I really can't afford to send in a
tech to reset all my wireless settings. Please help.

them. They just come back up. I tried to dismiss all, but it keeps coming
back.
What is wrong? What can I do?

Loss of Conection to Exchange
We have just upgraded all our system. We were previously on Novell.
We now have Windows 2003 server and 2003 Exchange server. The computers are
all running XP pro and Office 2007.
Our laptops connect in through a Juniper VPN link. This has all been working
great, but now slowly but surely our laptops are not being able to connect to
exchange. They come in as normal, they can access shared network drives and
can ping the Exchange server without any problems, but Outlook won't connect
to Exchange.
Has anybody come across this problem before? Nothing has changes. One day no
problem then next no access. Also, once the connection doesnâ??t work it never
seems to work again.

Outlook 2003 and DoS
Had a situation yesterday where a SMTP mailserver was being DoS'd by a
client.
Culprit was an Outlook 2003 desktop, which was trying to send a number of
oversize attachments.
The mailserver has an attachment-size limit set, and quota on the mailbox, and
it seems that Outlook does not recognise this situation, but instead keeps
hammering the server with a continuous series of send attempts.
I'm not hopeful of any fix, but just thought I'd mention it. Tag: hyperlinks don't work in Outlook 2003 Tag: 88234
What would cause some hyperlinks in Outlook 2003 to connect to the internet
and others don't? Thank-you!
