I want to move a .pst file from C drive to another internal drive using copy
and paste in Explorer. I get an error message "Cannot copy Outlook: the
process cannot access the file because another process has locked a portion
of the file." Outlook is closed when trying to move the file. Any ideas?

If Outlook is truly closed, check in Task Manager for outlook.exe process,
then something else is accessing the pst file, eg Desktop search
application, fax software, sync software etc

Hi Sarah,

please check in the "Task Manager" under process, if "outlook.exe" is realy
stopped.

Thanks to both of you. I did find that Outlook was running in the task
manager even though I had closed it. As a result I shut down the computer,
restarted, and moved the file before reopening Outlook. Strange that it
remained running, but it is clearly a known problem.
