    - Outlook Error Message Preventing Initial Configuration After a RAM failure and upon re-install of Office 2003. When asked to set up accounts for Outlook, I tried to reset my exchange. Now, Outlook keeps saying that it cannot find my exchange server "offline" even though I am online. It says that the file: C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook\outlook.ost is not an offline file. I have tried simply deleting the .ost file and the extend.dat file (as well as replacing them with my back up files) but it does not work. It will not even allow me to even enter Outlook (in regular or safe mode) to delete/remove the account. How can I remove the account info entered so I can get Outlook back to its initial pre-configuration state and restart Outlook. I have already uninstalled and reinstalled Office 2003 using the CD.     - Outlook 2003 crashing Yesterday I did a repair on the Office 2002 installation to fix a problem with Excel (ran repair). Since then Outlook 2003 opens, then "encounters a problem" and closes, so I'm guessing that somehow that process affected Outlook. Tried using my installation disk, but somehow it does not contain the setup.exe file and I can't get it to start. It looks as if I didn't make a copy of that disk.     - Outlook 2007 Stuck in Configure I'm using Windows XP and have recently upgraded from Office 2003 to Office 2007. Everything works fine except for Outlook. Whenever I try to open it, it gets stuck in Configuring Outlook. I've even tried leaving it run all night and it's not just slow -- it's stuck. I've uninstalled and re-installed Office, tried setting up a new mail account, tried a new .pst and nothing works. I will say that periodically Outlook will open in Safe Mode. Usually it's after I re-start my computer, try it once and get stuck, use "Control>Alt>Delete" to get out and then try again. When I check in Help, it has disabled the following add-ins: irisms32.dll msntbforoutlook.dll wltbforoutlook.dll I've gone into Privacy (?) and disabled those add-ins manually, but I'm still having problems. I submitted a request to Microsoft for help and need to answer them, but I can't get Outlook to open even in Safe Mode now. Is there a way to force it open in Safe Mode?     - Outlook 2007 can't send e-mails I am running Windows Vista and Office Professional 2007 on an Acer Extensa 5420. I installed office and everything works fine except outlook. I am connecting to mail.charter.net and I can receive e-mails, but I cannot send any. I have set the configurations with mail.charter.net for both incoming and outgoing pop3 settings and also with pop.charter.net for incoming and smtp.charter.net for pop3 settings. Both configurations will receive messages, but neither will send. These configurations work for Outlook express and webmail, there is nothing wrong with my account. Any suggestions?     - New mail alerts Why do alerts go away after 30 seconds? If I'm away from my desk when an email comes in, the alert comes up and goes away before I get back so I am never notified of new mail.     - Opening Outlook PST file Please help. I am trying to copy my work PST files to my home computer and am not having much luck. I have several issues: 1. When I try to open the PST file by double clicking it, it gives me an error message "Cannot start Microsoft Outlook. The Command line argument is not valid. Verify the switch you are using." 2. When I go to outlook and try to open the data file, it does not see the file as a valid PST file - even though it is (as I copied it from my work computer). 3.     - Outlook 2007 to Exchange 2003, just stopped connecting Hi, I am running on a local area network. Just 7 clients running Outlook 2007. They are all me, just different machines and I am using Exchange to keep all my Outlook instances in sync. Everything was fine until this weekend (Saturday) and now two of the seven machines will not connect to the Exchange 2003 server. I have not changed anything. Things I have tried - rebooted the Exchange server - rebooted the client machines - in the Outlook 2007 clients, I went offline, shut down, restarted, went online - Control Panel / Mail / repaired the Exchange connection (nothing to fix but I let it find the exchange server again by using the IP address and then "check names". This seemed to force it to recognize the Exchange server and account again. - turned off Windows Firewall - disabled NOD32 (only running on one machine, the other is running OneCare) - System Restore on both machines to a week before the issue arose - physically connected to the network at the sam port and cable that is working with other machines - update the windows/system32/drivers/etc/hosts file to include the IP address and machine name for the Exchange Server Things I checked - I can ping the Exchange server - both by IP address and machine name Environment Server: Server 2003 Exchange: Exchange 2003 Clients: Windows Vista Ultimate SP1 Outlook 2007 I would be most grateful for any suggestions on how to get these machines to work with Exchange again.     - Archive Folders heading in Office Outlook 2003 email list disappea I had over 40 folders under "Archive Folders" in Outlook 2003. I transferred them to PST files, then to My Documents and downloaded them on a flash drive. My computer was taken down and the basic OS was re-established by Gateway. When I reloaded Office Outlook from the Microsoft Office Small Business Edition 2003, Outlook loaded without the heading "Archive Folders". I just have Personal Folders and my 2 email address with subfolders such as inbox/sent/junk mail/deleted items.     - Cannot Logon Each time the computer is turned on, I cannot sign into Outlook. I have to go to Tools/Email Accounts/Change and re-enter my password, even though the remember this password box is checked. I am running XP,Outlook 2003, and Business Contact Manager Update for Microsoft Office Outlook 2003. I downloaded Oulook connector to link my Hotmail Live account to Outlook. I ran the Detect and Repair feature from both Outlook Connector and the Control Panel for Office 2003, Outlook Connector, and Business Contact Manager. The following message appeared when detecting and repairing Office 2003: "A required installation file SKU1CA.CAB could not be found" I inserted the Office 2003 Installation CD as required. I received a message that the SET-UP was successful. Nothing else happened. I was expecting an installion wizard after the set-up complete message. Also, I removed and re-installed Connector and Business Contact Manager. Same thing, I cannot login once I turn off the compuer and turn it back on.     - Change outlook data file path We have changed the "My Documents" path with Folder Redirection. Several users have their archive file (*.pst) stored in My Documents. And because the path to the .pst file is an UNC path, the archive folder cannot be opened automatically. Within outlook, users have to close the "old" archive folder and then again open the archive folder from the new location. Is there an outlook config file where I can alter the path to the archive file and auto-archive path, so I can change it remotely?     - BCM SQL Install Problem Resolved I could not get BCM to install. I would get a vague error message near the end of the BCM install that stated that BCM could not be installed (REALLY??) and referred me to a logfile that was useless - it actually stated at the end that BCM had been installed successfully!! As it turns out, the problem was that a previously installed SQL program (ACT! V7.0) did not completely unistall (even though it was no longer in the Control Panel Add/Remove Software list). Left over were Windows Installer fragments, the ACT7 service, registry snap in SQL code, and the SQL Program Files folders (which could not be deleted until the service was deleted).     - Installation MESS Had Office 2002, Purchased 2007. Installation of 2007 did not offer warning that Outlook needed to be removed. So I discovered that I did not have Outlook 2007 installed and finally figured out I had to remove 2002. So I removed 2002 only to discover that I STILL cannot install Outlook 2007. I'm very dependent on Outlook, so I attempted to reinstall 2002. It appears to have reinstalled, but won't run due to "missing patch file." An attempt to remove 2002 now won't work either because of the missing patch file.     - Unable to reach POP3 Servers from Outlook 2003 I've reloaded all software trying to resolve this. Without any obvious cause Outlook 2003 quit accessing defined e-mail accounts inbound and outbound for POP3 (only use POP3). The WAN connection shows TCP/IP but will not allow uninstall and install may not be working due to an unsigned driver. I've walked through all Outlook settings with the ISP. The e-mail service works fine through web mail. I did find the Microsoft IPV6 driver loaded. Outlook's Send/Receive Progress initially shows 0x8004210A and 0x8004210B errors. The BellSouth/AT&T tool confirms the e-mail addresses Outlook is using are sending and receiving but Outlook continues to have problems.     - Error message when trying to save an appointment I have Vista on a new desktop but am running Outlook 2000. I've just installed it and am now trying to set my first appointment. When I hit Save and Close it says and error occured while trying to open the address book-Unable to find the WAB-DLL. What in the world does this mean? How do I fix this?     - Uninstall Outlook XP to upgrade to 2007 Followed instructions from MS to go to Start >Control Panel > Add/Remove Prog > click the Office Suite installed > Change > Add/Remove Features > Next ..... but get stuck at CLICK TO CLEAR THE OUTLOOK CHECK BOX. There IS no checkbox next to Outlook, only a plus sign, which, when clicked, drops down to reveal the elements included in Outlook (i.e. stationary, etc.). Three questions: (1) Where do I find the checkbox? (I'm running Office XP on Windows XP) (2) A. If I ENTIRELY uninstall Office XP from my system and ENTIRELY re-install Office 2007, will I lose my calendar and contact info from XP? B.     - You dont have the appropriate permissions to perform this operati I have a laptop that cratered one me.. Windows XP.....I had to do a system restore from the beginning. Lost a lot but no biggie. Had Office 97 full version on it and then had the 2003 Office Upgrade. Had no problems before it crashed. Got everything fixed on the laptop. Got all the windows updated and went to upload the Office again and had problems right off the bat with 97. Couldnt find my default folders. Figured I had a Registry problem. Deleted 97 and then Went into Registry and renamed all the folders in Office to OLD. This allowed me to Load 97 again and then the 2003 upgrade. When I started 2003 I got an error "An error occured in the folder shortcuts file .fav Outlook will recreate the defualt folder shortcuts. " And I could do nothing. Kept getting the error. At this point I went to Control panel and deleted the program and then went to regedit again renamed everything and then loaded it all back up again. During the 2003 profiles being set up. Put in Pop3, SMTP strings passwords and emails address. In Tools, emails accounts. I did the test. Everything checks out. It sends and receives. I went to my hotmail to verify it is being sent and it work. I go to start a new email.... As soon as I hit the Send/recieve button in the tool bar I get the error "You dont have permission to perform this operation. " However it DOES send the email... I just can not receive emails. I saw in other posts to change the outlook .SRS files. I did a search on my c drive of all files. hidden as well. I dont see any. I went to Documents and settings/Administrator/Application data/Microsfot/office/outlook and tried to see if the files were in the outlook folder. I can not open the folder and when I hover it says the folder is empty.l. I get the error that "Outlook is not accessible. Access denied." I did go to the Documents and setting and make sure the READ ONLY was NOT checked. Yet still having the problem. Can not receive mail and the errors. Any help would be greatly appreciated.     - Need two Mail sections in Outlook & Blackberry I get a thousand emails a day. A few are for me directly, the rest are copies of everybody else's emails (due to security at the company) as well as the random non-existant email that goes to our email server. We do not have our own server to store this on, it's all on my computer. All of this email gets sent to my blackberry as well. I want to set up one email section for my email, another for everybody else's. I want to do this like you can set up two calendars, just click which one you want to see, or both.     - PRF file quit working We had built a custom PRF file for Office 2003 SP3 that ran the first time a user opened OutLook to automatically create his OutLook Profile (we use Exchange). This worked fine, and, we had it on a clone that we use Ghost to create multiple copies from, and, again, all this worked fine. We had not installed OneNote and FrontPage, so, ran those installs to add them into the rest of the suite on our Master Clone, and...now the PRF doesn't run when OutLook is first run. The file is still there, and, if double-clicked, will run and create the profile, so...looks like we broke some kind of link (Registry, INI/INF file?)...anyway...not sure what's broke.     - Reinstall and recover The hard drive on which I had the backups of PST files (Outlook 2003) died a painful death recently. I had some older PST files on another hard drive, but would like to get the latest emails, contacts, etc. I cannot boot from the C drive (problem with motherboard), but I can access the C drive harddrive from another computer as a slave/external hardrive. I am obtaining a new computer and will install Office 2007 Professional.     - Mulitple Users on Vista - Outlook 2003 I am the administrator and have my wife set-up as standard user. When logged in as my wife, I started Outlook 2003 and it gave me an error message - something to the effect that I didnt have access to the default PST file. It was pointing and trying to open up my own PST File (Adminstrator). ?? Why? On my XP machine I was able to have 2 users and separate pst files for each user.     - Outlook keeps hanging up, won't load Purchased Office Standard 2007 last fall, installed it and it worked perfect till about Dec. 1st. Then one day it when computer was booting up, Outlook would not load, it just hung up. Service pack has been installed and all other updates are current. I un installed it and re installed it....same problem....so I just left it alone. Till today. Thought I would start over. So I un installed it once more and re installed it, still nothing...then I went to control panel, hit change and repaired. Still nothing.     - Outlook 2003 - MAPI32.DLL corruption? Hi OS: Windows XP Pro. I have upgraded my computer, and am re-installing all my software to the new pc. I used the Files & Settings Transfer Wizard. I have installed Ooutlook 2003, Excel 2003 and Word 2000 from disc, and registered/activated/validated them all with Microsoft. When trying to open Outlook 2003, I receive the message "Cannot start Microsoft Outlook. MAPI32.dll is corrupt or the wrong version.........." etc. Having searched this error, I found I must run the FIXMAPI.exe utility. However, when I double click on it nothing happens. I have even tried running it from Start>Run>C\Windows....etc. I have looked for the utility on Windows/Microsoft site, but am unable to find it - presumably as it is an integral part of Windows. What is the goal? Just to know? Scripting deployments?

There are other values relevant to cached mode operation, inlcuding the OAB.
The outl11.adm template for Outlook 2003 and the Office Customization Tool
(OCT) for Office 2007 offer easy configuration (run Office setup.exe with
the /admin switch).

That wouldn't be the correct key. That's for a profile left over from
Outlook 98/2000 in Internet Mail Only mode.
