    - cannot send or receive e-mail outlook 2007 I up graded to outlook 2007 was working fine last night. Today I cannot send or receive e-mail. ( I use Hughes Net) When I went to my Hughes Net webb sight and checked my e-mail I received it. So problem is with outlook. Any ideas?     - Dell OEM version of Office and Outlook 2003 install and activate question Is there a problem if I install a Dell OEM version of Office 2003 XP I got way back when and install it on a self built box? I figure I got it legally and fair but it still asks for activation. Will it activate over the web and let me use it or is it limited to the Dell that saw better days?     - One recipient cannot receive our emails One of our clients cannot receive any emails that are sent from any workstation on our Windows 2003 Server network. We can send and they can receive emails if we use our ISP webmail portal though. The only thing our client will tell us is that our email is changing, preventing our emails from getting through, and that the problem is with the host. This makes no sense, but the fact remains that they don't get our emails, even if we reply to one of their incoming emails. What is more baffling is that this just started a week ago with no changes made to our own network. How do we troubleshoot this? Thanks in advance for your help. -- M.     - Setting up an account to go through proxy I desire to use Outlook 2007 for a number of reasons. However, I currently cannot receive email messages via POP3 through my Proxy. My computer is on our LAN on which there is a computer that runs a proxy and shared Internet access. In Outlook Express, I set up the following: ---------------------------- Incoming mail server: POP3 POP3: 192.168.1.10 (my proxy's IP address) SMTP: 192.168.1.10 Account: wolfgang@workingwebs.co.za#mail.workingwebs.co.za Password: ****** ------------------------ This works perfectly and has from Outlook Express versions running from about year 2000 to the latest most current Outlook Express. Doing the same in Outlook 2007, however, does not work, whereas the SMTP setting does work. Note: For the proxy, the POP3 server host name to be sent with the account name (User name in Outlook 2007) delimited by a # (see above). It appears as though the account string is somehow changed by Outlook 2007 so the proxy doesn't get a valid string to process. ----------------------- My questions: 1. Is the use of an account string as above with a # delimeter not allowed in Outlook 2007? Note: The input is allowed in the account field. E.g. no error message is displayed to indicate that a # delimited account name is invalid. 2. If (1) above is the case, how does one configure Outlook 2007 to go via a proxy to a POP3 account on the Internet? PS: All my apps have to have a proxy setting including IE, Firefox, anti-spyware software. 95% of apps work perfectly. Outlook Express fits in the 95% and Outlook 2007 in the 5%. I am currently at a loss as to where to continue as I have now spent weeks researching this problem with no luck whatsoever. So any help will be appreciated.     - 'Right-Click' Send to do not work We have installed Outlook 2003 on Windows Server 2003, the clients are using terminal server to acces outlook or via a businessprogram called GARP. When they Right-Click on a file and send to, mail recipient the outlook do not start or respond in any kind, nothing happens. I now for fact that everything is correct configured with standard maílprogram and the registry key are also correct. Does somone have an ide to look for or how to resolve the problem with outlook? If i uninstall Outlook and install it again, will this maby help and do users have to reconfigured there exchange account? I have been using Outlook 2007 for two years now through an account with Mailstreet.com (a Microsoft Exchange Server), but my domain is being used by spammers to an astounding degree and I have taken the decision to drop my website altogether. I have turned to GMAIL which is a breeze and would like to use it with OUTLOOK 2007. To do that, do I need to go through a MS Exchange or can I use Outlook as a standalone? The reason of my question is this: what will happen after I terminate my Mailstreet account... will I be able to use Gmail with Outlook, retain my calendar, my contacts, etc... without having to pay a monthly fee?     - Trying to acces old .pst, getting Accses Denied Purchased new computer and had them install the old drive into the computer. I installed Outlook 2003 (I've got Windows Vista, Home Premium). I first tried to open the old .pst file using File/Open/Outlook Data File. Gave me a system error telling me I did not have access. I located the file on the old drive, renamed it, and copied it into the new drive, and into the same folder as the new .pst file. I then tried to open it with File/Open, etc, and got an Outlook error telling me I don't have access (there was no password on this file). I saw in other messages that the advice was to remove the Read Only (it would be nice to explain how to do that). I assume that is in File Propertiesm, so checked File Properties, and according to that, I have full access. I've read some of the KB articles, but they don't seem to help.     - How do I convert my Outlook 2002 .pst file for use in Outlook 2003 Thanks to this forum, I was finally able to get my Outlook 2002 functioning again. I was stymied by the "The messaging interface has returned an unknown error" mystery ( 2GB limit). From help here, I was able to delete about 1000 emails to get my pst file down to about 1.3 GB after compacting. So that I can avoid this same problem in the future, I'd like to go with Outlook 2003 that I understand has a 20 to 30 GB capacity. I want to use, if possible, this current .pst data file because I have created many subfolders of my inbox that I use daily. Can I do it? What are the steps?     - can't open pdf attachments or pdf from search engines For some reason I cannot now open any attachment or file on search engines ending with .pdf A box flashes up saying 'open' or 'save' but while it seems to be downloading the attachment or file, it doesn't appear on screen and that box simply keeps flashing back up.     - stubborn Outlook password prompt! I am running Office 2003 SP3 on Windows XP Pro. I am having a stubborn problem with Outlook not saving passwords. It is getting mail from a POP server and sending out to an SMTP server. It refuses to save either password. Everytime I click on send/receive, I have to enter the password. When I do then it gets the mail, however the next time I send/receive I have to re-enter the password. If I am sending mail, I have to re-enter the password for the SMTP server. I have clicked on "save password". But everytime I go into the account setup, the password field is blank again. I have deleted and recreated the Outlook user profile. I have done the fix where you delete the "Protected System Storage Provider" key in the registry. I have uninstalled and reinstalled Office 2003. I even ran the cleanup tool that is in the Office Resource kit, and deleted all Outlook folders in the user profile, and under Program Files. I have started Outlook in Safe Mode and it still has the problem. I have disabled/uninstalled any Spyware and antivirus programs I could find on the PC. I'm really at my wit's end on this.     - Outlook Connector not synchronising received mail. Latest connector, Outlook 2003, Windows XP Home In a number of forums, including on Microsoft, I have read quite explicit statements that it is possible to link a Hotmail account to outlook using either the Windows Live POP3 server or Outlook Connector. It is also said that these services are free, even to newcomers for mail, but chargeable for calendar/contacts synchronisation. I mention this only because there does seem to be confusion out there on what is available and what isnt. So I have tried every whichway to make either of these work for a hotmail.co.uk account without success. Does anyone know for sure whether the facility is available for these addresses (in which case I will go on trying) or that they only work on .com ones. If only .com ones, then how do I get one - I was allocated .co.uk by microsoft. When Iam trying to make this work I am temporarily disabling my firewall and anti -virus just to make sure these arent interfering with anything. That is probably tomorrows problem... My problem is that it finds but will not log on to the pop3 server and/or wont receive (though it does send) any messages through outlook connector. I am pressing send/receive.     - OWA and Outlook 2003 I want OWA and Outlook 2003 to be sync'd up so that if I open/send a message in either client, both of them will reflect these actions. Is this possible? I have some users that will use Outlook 2003 in the office, but sometimes use OWA when they are away (i.e on vacation, travelling on business, etc). What is the best way to configure these clients?     - Can't send emails using Outlook 2007 I can't send email using Outlook 2007. I have Vista, Road Runner, and have McAfee. I have eliminated both of them as problems. I was told that I should contact Microsoft. I had no problems until about a week ago. Nothing has changed on my computer that I know of. I can receive all incoming emails, but when I hit send a pop up window comes up and says, Email message problem, one or more messages cannot be sent. Also, it says, After you verify the format of your recipient addresses, McAfee recommends that you resend those messages from your e-mail program.     - Must enter password twice-Thus Outlook won't work I have Windows XP and Microsoft Office 2003 including Outlook 2003. I used to be able to access my MSN.com e-mail account with Outlook but my computer crashed. I have been able to resurrect everything except when accessing my MSN.com account either from a browser (doesn't matter if it is Explorer or Firefox) it will not accept the password on the first try. The second try works well. This blocks Outlook as it cannot reenter the password. I just get an error message asking me to reenter the password and it still will not work. HELP!     - Outlook always asking for passwords on startup and when I send ema Hello, I'm missing something, probably simple, but for some odd reason, Outlook is prompting me for my passwords when I first check for email and then again when I send email. I have Remember password checked under Logon Information and Log on using (under Outgoing Server). But for whatever reason, when I exit, those passwords are cleared.     - Problem Installing Outlook after Office... I purchase new laptop. Bought Office Home & Student. Bought Outlook. Downloaded office first. Loaded fine. When I open any any or all of the programs, I get a "OFFICE APPLICATION VERSION DOES NOT MATCH" pop up. I hit ok and all is well. THEN.. I try to download Outlook. Gets about 30% downloaded and then I get "SETUP CANNOT FIND SETUP.EXE. BROWSE TO A VALID INSTALLATION SOURCE" error. Will not go any further. Have to hit ok or cancel. Hitting either one cancels installation. Any ideas? PS. After I got office installed- I performed update. There were 17 updates.     - Accessing Outlook I have installed Microsoft Small Business 2002 to my laptop after having the modem replaced. When I open Microsoft Outlook, I am getting an error "Unable to start processing services. Could not open the item. Try again" Then when I try to expand Outlook Today, I received the error "Unable to expand the folder. The set of folders could not be opened. Could not open them. Try again."     - I can't receive E-Mails in Outlook 2007 I've just bought a new PC running 64 Bit Vista. I configured Windows Mail to manage my E-Mail - no problems. A few days ago I installed a trial version of Office 2007 and set up Outlook as my E-Mail program. I allowed the "wizard" to import my settings from Windows Mail but although the wizard succesfully sent a test E-Mail, when Outlook tried to receive E-mails I got a pop up asking me to confirm my user name and password and that's as far as I've got. I've keyed and re-keyed the correct User Name and Password. I've re-run the wizard, I've keyed my Account settings manually but all I can do is to send E-Mails - not receive. At the moment I'm sending E-Mails using Outlook and receiving them using Windows Mail. I temporarily disabled Norton - but it made no difference. Any ideas welcome !!!!     - Outlook Error Message Preventing Initial Configuration After a RAM failure and upon re-install of Office 2003. When asked to set up accounts for Outlook, I tried to reset my exchange. Now, Outlook keeps saying that it cannot find my exchange server "offline" even though I am online. It says that the file: C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook\outlook.ost is not an offline file. I have tried simply deleting the .ost file and the extend.dat file (as well as replacing them with my back up files) but it does not work. It will not even allow me to even enter Outlook (in regular or safe mode) to delete/remove the account. How can I remove the account info entered so I can get Outlook back to its initial pre-configuration state and restart Outlook. I have already uninstalled and reinstalled Office 2003 using the CD.     - Outlook 2003 crashing Yesterday I did a repair on the Office 2002 installation to fix a problem with Excel (ran repair). Since then Outlook 2003 opens, then "encounters a problem" and closes, so I'm guessing that somehow that process affected Outlook.     - Outlook 2007 Stuck in Configure I'm using Windows XP and have recently upgraded from Office 2003 to Office 2007. Everything works fine except for Outlook. Whenever I try to open it, it gets stuck in Configuring Outlook. I've even tried leaving it run all night and it's not just slow -- it's stuck. I've uninstalled and re-installed Office, tried setting up a new mail account, tried a new .pst and nothing works. I will say that periodically Outlook will open in Safe Mode. Usually it's after I re-start my computer, try it once and get stuck, use "Control>Alt>Delete" to get out and then try again. When I check in Help, it has disabled the following add-ins: irisms32.dll msntbforoutlook.dll wltbforoutlook.dll I've gone into Privacy (?) and disabled those add-ins manually, but I'm still having problems. I submitted a request to Microsoft for help and need to answer them, but I can't get Outlook to open even in Safe Mode now. Is there a way to force it open in Safe Mode?     - Outlook 2007 can't send e-mails I am running Windows Vista and Office Professional 2007 on an Acer Extensa 5420. I installed office and everything works fine except outlook. I am connecting to mail.charter.net and I can receive e-mails, but I cannot send any. I have set the configurations with mail.charter.net for both incoming and outgoing pop3 settings and also with pop.charter.net for incoming and smtp.charter.net for pop3 settings. Use Windows' settings to make sure you've correctly chosen the appropriate
browser. I can't be more specific than that without knowing your Windows
version. Always state your Outlook version as well when you ask a question.
