    - Uninstall Outlook XP to upgrade to 2007 Followed instructions from MS to go to Start >Control Panel > Add/Remove Prog > click the Office Suite installed > Change > Add/Remove Features > Next ..... but get stuck at CLICK TO CLEAR THE OUTLOOK CHECK BOX. There IS no checkbox next to Outlook, only a plus sign, which, when clicked, drops down to reveal the elements included in Outlook (i.e. stationary, etc.). Three questions: (1) Where do I find the checkbox? (I'm running Office XP on Windows XP) (2) A. If I ENTIRELY uninstall Office XP from my system and ENTIRELY re-install Office 2007, will I lose my calendar and contact info from XP? B. Loving EVERYTHING about every other aspect of 2007 I've been using on trial...very intuitive and easily adapted to. The Outlook thing is the only hangup I've experienced.     - You dont have the appropriate permissions to perform this operati I have a laptop that cratered one me.. Windows XP.....I had to do a system restore from the beginning. Lost a lot but no biggie. Had Office 97 full version on it and then had the 2003 Office Upgrade. Had no problems before it crashed. Got everything fixed on the laptop. Got all the windows updated and went to upload the Office again and had problems right off the bat with 97. Couldnt find my default folders. Figured I had a Registry problem. Deleted 97 and then Went into Registry and renamed all the folders in Office to OLD. This allowed me to Load 97 again and then the 2003 upgrade. When I started 2003 I got an error "An error occured in the folder shortcuts file .fav Outlook will recreate the defualt folder shortcuts. " And I could do nothing. Kept getting the error. At this point I went to Control panel and deleted the program and then went to regedit again renamed everything and then loaded it all back up again. During the 2003 profiles being set up. Put in Pop3, SMTP strings passwords and emails address. In Tools, emails accounts. I did the test. Everything checks out. It sends and receives. I went to my hotmail to verify it is being sent and it work. I go to start a new email.... As soon as I hit the Send/recieve button in the tool bar I get the error "You dont have permission to perform this operation. " However it DOES send the email... I just can not receive emails. I saw in other posts to change the outlook .SRS files. I did a search on my c drive of all files. hidden as well. I dont see any. I went to Documents and settings/Administrator/Application data/Microsfot/office/outlook and tried to see if the files were in the outlook folder. I can not open the folder and when I hover it says the folder is empty.l. I get the error that "Outlook is not accessible. Access denied." I did go to the Documents and setting and make sure the READ ONLY was NOT checked. Yet still having the problem. Can not receive mail and the errors. Any help would be greatly appreciated.     - Outlook Must Be Online...... Exchange/Outlook 2007 I'm currently configuring outlook 2007 for RPC of HTTP to an exchange server. I have all the settings correct and have confirmed it with the exchange server admin and the old settings I used in outlook 2003 (which did work) This leads me to believe I have something wrong on my end with the install.     - Need two Mail sections in Outlook & Blackberry I get a thousand emails a day. A few are for me directly, the rest are copies of everybody else's emails (due to security at the company) as well as the random non-existant email that goes to our email server. We do not have our own server to store this on, it's all on my computer. All of this email gets sent to my blackberry as well. I want to set up one email section for my email, another for everybody else's. I want to do this like you can set up two calendars, just click which one you want to see, or both.     - PRF file quit working We had built a custom PRF file for Office 2003 SP3 that ran the first time a user opened OutLook to automatically create his OutLook Profile (we use Exchange). This worked fine, and, we had it on a clone that we use Ghost to create multiple copies from, and, again, all this worked fine. We had not installed OneNote and FrontPage, so, ran those installs to add them into the rest of the suite on our Master Clone, and...now the PRF doesn't run when OutLook is first run. The file is still there, and, if double-clicked, will run and create the profile, so...looks like we broke some kind of link (Registry, INI/INF file?)...anyway...not sure what's broke.     - Reinstall and recover The hard drive on which I had the backups of PST files (Outlook 2003) died a painful death recently. I had some older PST files on another hard drive, but would like to get the latest emails, contacts, etc. I cannot boot from the C drive (problem with motherboard), but I can access the C drive harddrive from another computer as a slave/external hardrive. I am obtaining a new computer and will install Office 2007 Professional. How do I access the latest Outlook 2003 data file from prior C drive discussed above and import the information into the newly installed Outlook 2007 account?     - Mulitple Users on Vista - Outlook 2003 I am the administrator and have my wife set-up as standard user. When logged in as my wife, I started Outlook 2003 and it gave me an error message - something to the effect that I didnt have access to the default PST file. It was pointing and trying to open up my own PST File (Adminstrator). ?? Why? On my XP machine I was able to have 2 users and separate pst files for each user.     - Outlook keeps hanging up, won't load Purchased Office Standard 2007 last fall, installed it and it worked perfect till about Dec. 1st. Then one day it when computer was booting up, Outlook would not load, it just hung up. Service pack has been installed and all other updates are current. I un installed it and re installed it....same problem....so I just left it alone. Till today. Thought I would start over. So I un installed it once more and re installed it, still nothing...then I went to control panel, hit change and repaired. Still nothing.     - Outlook 2003 - MAPI32.DLL corruption? Hi OS: Windows XP Pro. I have upgraded my computer, and am re-installing all my software to the new pc. I used the Files & Settings Transfer Wizard. I have installed Ooutlook 2003, Excel 2003 and Word 2000 from disc, and registered/activated/validated them all with Microsoft. When trying to open Outlook 2003, I receive the message "Cannot start Microsoft Outlook. MAPI32.dll is corrupt or the wrong version.........." etc. Having searched this error, I found I must run the FIXMAPI.exe utility. However, when I double click on it nothing happens. I have even tried running it from Start>Run>C\Windows....etc. I have looked for the utility on Windows/Microsoft site, but am unable to find it - presumably as it is an integral part of Windows.     - Problem with MIME in Outlook 2003 on Vista computers. Known bug, support refuses to create patch to fix and suggests upgrading to Outlook 2007. I think if they refuse to create patch they should offer 2003 Outlook users a free upgrade to Outlook 2007.     - Deleting COM Add-In that doesn't exist I used file and settings transfer wizard to move data from my old computer to my new computer. I am running Outlook 2003 under Windows XP. When I start outlook it says .....outbak.dll is not a valid Office add-in. and then I get a second box that says the same thing with ...sbcmsync.dll. When I acknowledge these boxes the program starts.     - Can't setup/create account-Operation Failed error I upgraded from Windows 2000 to Windows XP on a Dell computer, then re-installed Office XP. When I try to set up Outlook, I get an error message. When I go to the Control Panel, click mail, and Email Accounts (Setup e-mail accounts and directories) Nothing happens. It does NOT go to the next screen. There is no error message, just nothing. I know if I change my working day from 8:00am-5:00pm to 8:00am-9:00am it will move the default reminder time to 8:00am as the default reminder time is set to one hour before the end of your working day which is useless as most people start there working day at 8:00am not 4:00pm. The problem is my working day is from 8:00am - 5:00pm and that is how I want outlook set-up.     - Error on import/export followed by hang on repair - Outlook 2007 I have installed Office 2007 from scratch on a new machine. I am running W2003 Server x64 and I am using Outlook 2007 Enterprise as a freestanding program, I am not using Exchange. One part of the set-up is to import contacts from Outlook 2003 on the old machine, which I have exported into a csv file. The first problem is: When I click on File > Import/Export or File > Data File Management when in the Contacts tab, nothing happens. An error message appears in the "To-Do Bar" on the right: "Operation failed. An object could not be found." I thought I should repair the installation. I closed Outlook and ran CP > Add or Remove Programs > Microsoft Office > Change, then I chose the "Repair" option. This opens a dialog box titled "Configuration Progress". The blue progress bar titled "Repairing Microsoft Office Enterprise 2007..." got about 1/4 complete on the bar in about 5 mins then stopped. Has remained in stuck in the same position for around 5 hours now. Office is shut down, there is nothing else running in the machine. I have no 3rd party anti-virus installed.     - how to delete Personal Folder used to import via flash drive ? I exported the Outlook 2000 Inbox on my XP computer to a flash drive, then imported to Outlook 2007 on new Vista 64 machine. This created an extra Personal Folder, so I dragged its Inbox to be a sub-folder of the current, identically named Inbox (which receives all new email). However, I cannot delete the "spare" personal folder as the filepath is no longer valid (and flash drive deleted).     - Integrate multiple IMAP4 accounts in Outlook 2003 Hi, I use Outlook 2003 to access my company email. I would like to also access multiple email accouts (Hotmail, Yahoo, Netscape) with IMAP4. I tried this and when I'm in Outlook, I click on the inbox folder for one of the IMAP accounts, such as Hotmail, and I open a new email to send, it gets sent using the outgoing email address of my Exchange account and not the Hotmail account. The same thing happens if I click on the Yahoo or Netscape folders/accounts I created in Outlook. All email gets sent using my company Exchange email address as opposed to the individual accounts/addresses I setup. When I set up the individual IMAP4 accounts in Outlook, I specified the email address to use, the IMAP server to connect to as well as the SMTP server to connect to. What am I doing wrong?     - Not showing the right arrow when replying and forwarding Hello, I have a client that is running Outlook 2007 with SP1 ontop of an XP professional desktop with all the service patches. She is IMAP'ing her mail down. She has been noticing that when she forwards and email message to a number of people it will show in her inbox as a "replied" message icon instead of the forward icon. The forward arrow is a blue arrow and the replied is a purple arrow. She is getting the purple arrow when she is forwarding email messages. Does anyone have some idea how to fix this?     - new message sound and indicator in task bar In older versions of Outlook, a sound could be played and the "new message" indicator would appear in the Windows task bar when a new message arrived, regardless of which folder the message landed in. In Outlook 2007, the indicator only appears if new messages land in the Inbox. Likewise, the sound can only be played if new messages land in the Inbox. This is very frustrating for those of us who like to organize email form multiple accounts in various folders, using automatic rules. I have looked through every configuration menu that I can find, and I do not see an option to correct this. The only working solution that I can come up with, at the moment, is to let ALL messages from ALL accounts land in the Inbox so the sound will play and the indicator will appear. Then, I can run my established rules manually so all of my messages end up in the correct folders. Of course, this is not an ideal solution. Does anyone have any ideas?     - Outlook Connector is forwarding my replies to Inbox Dear Outlook Expert. I am suing Outlook Connector for Hotmail with Outlook 2003. I really like incorporating my hotmail in the outlook however, I am experiencing one nagging problem which I cannot resolve. When I reply to an email in my hotmail inbox (within Outlook 2003) instead of it being sent to the SentI tems folder it goes into my Inbox. When I click on the individual email's Options I see that it states Inbox but I cannot change it to the Hotmails Sent Items only to Exchange Server's sent Items. I want the default behavior to be that it's sent to the Sent Items in my hotmail. It actually worked before I re-formatted my computer so not sure what's going on now.     - Printing from Outlook For the longest time, everything was fine --- I could print from Outlook. Now, everytime I want to print, it tries to save to ImageWriter. I went into "print" and tried to cahnge the options back to my printer, but all the selection buttons are dark and the ImageWriter is stuck in place. So clicking on "Properties" and changing the print option is out. I tried going into Word. That's sent pnmy printer and there's no problem there. I tried uploading Office again. Nothing.     - Outlook 2003 error message I get the following error message when I open outlook. Powered by SupportSoft Your operating system is not supported by this installation. It also freezes my computer and then needs to be reboot. I was told to disable SupportSoft but could not find it. It was not in my Addins manager or ComAddins. I also looked in the registry and there was nothing about SupportSoft in the Addins. I found a folder named SupportSoft under program files/common files. But I did not know which dll to disable. I didn't know if I could delete the whole folder. There was not an exe file in that folder. I finally was able to do a system restore and it seems to have taken care of the problem so far.     - Outlook 2003: change page width for new mesage Last night, when I launched Outlook 2003, I got an error message about a "delayed write" that failed and the data was lost. When Outlook opened, everything looked fine, but when I opened a file to compose a new e-mail, the page width was 13 inches!! I am using Word2003 as my e-mail editor. Page Set-up indicated a standard letter size paper in portrait mode. All attempts to change this to a more reasonable width (6-7 inches) have failed. How can I "fix" this?? There must be a template or default e-mail form somewhere that sets this width; I'd like to find out where it is and how to modify it. I "repaired" the installation of MS Office Professional through Control Panel and that has not fixed the problem. I have not tried an uninstall/reinstall.     - Vista Ultimate and Outlook 2007 mailbox location I have a laptop that had Vista Ultimate installed on the C drive and Office 2007 setup on the D drive. the C partition was formatted and I need to recover the mailbox from Outlook 2007. I cannot locate where Outlook keeps the Mailbox files. I see it talks about PST files but even on my own system I cannot locate a .PST file using the same setups. I have looked inside c:\users\*username*\*.pst and found no PST files at all. I have searched the C and D drives for *.pst and found nothing. I am looking at my own functional laptop and cannot find the default location where Outlook 2007 keeps mail, contacts and such. Can anyone help?     - Customize with mail.oft, normalemail, theme's or styles?? We are working with Outlook 2007 in a TS environment. I' am trying to customize sending e-mail. I have being searching the whole day but I' am getting crazy with the possibilities. Can anyone sort me out? What I want to do: 1. Chance the default type 2. Insert some standard text en logo 3. Create some company lay-out bullet lists (styles) 4.Make this the same for every user. As so far I found out: 1. There is a mail.oft at \office 2007\templates\1043. Is this the default layout? 2. In my default template folder there is a Normalemail.dotm. In discussion groups I couldn't find a clear answer, is this the place to customize? 3. I can make I theme with the type I want (in e-mail_messages\options\theme's ) and save it. but how can I set a default theme for every new e-mail (the personal theme I made is not in the list stationary/theme's in the options). 4. In e-mail_messages \format\style's I can change the style and make a style default. What is better to use for setting type Theme's or style's? 5. There is also I Normalemail.dotm in doc&set for every user. Do I have to change all of them, can I copy, or can I make them use all the same Normalemail.dotm.     - Outlook 2007 not working I recently installed/upgraded to Office 2007 from 2003. Word and Excel are working fine but even though Outlook comes up, I can't compose a new message, nor can I access Account Settings under tools to POP email. The error I get when trying to compose an email is: "Could not complete the operation. One or more parameter values are not valid." The error when trying to access Account Settings is: "The operation failed because of a registration or installation problem. Restart Outlook and try again. If the problem persists, reinstall."     - Outlook 2000 Start - again and again I've just installed outlook 2000 on my vista-machine (it has got Windows mail, but I like my old outlook). Every time I open outlook the "Outlook 2000 Start" box appears, and then I have to click yes to these 3 things: - the welcome guide that will help configure outlook 2000 - another version of outlook was installed on the computer, befor outlook 2000 got installed. Did you use that version for your emails? Click yes, so that Outlook can use the same configuration as the already installed version of Outlook - Outlook isn't your standardprogramme for post, news, calender and contactpersons at this momens. Do you want to install outlook as your stardardprogramme (this one appears twice) I can not find that other outlook, that it claims has been installes before.     - Mulitple Calendar issues. Have a users that wished to view 5 shared calendars in Outlook2003/Exchange 2003 setup. The first couple of calenders shared and added are abled to be viewed properly. any entry created is shown. The last couple of calenders added do not show any entrys. any suggestions welcome and taken on at face value. Thanks in advance. James. I have Vista on a new desktop but am running Outlook 2000. I've just
installed it and am now trying to set my first appointment. When I hit Save
and Close it says and error occured while trying to open the address
book-Unable to find the WAB-DLL. What in the world does this mean? How do I
fix this? I'm hoping that this is not a Vista-Outlook compatability issue.

Outlook 2000 is not compatible with Vista. If you change the installation
to Corporate/Workgroup mode, however, it may work. See the "Outlook and
Vista" section (scroll down a way) on http://www.slipstick.com/ . It may
also work if you copy the appropriate WAB DLLs to
%WinDir%\System32. See http://www.poremsky.com/howto/vista_wab.htm
