I have just recently installed SP3 for Office 2003, and now I am not able to
empty my sent folder for some time now. The option is completely grayed out.

I have tried a detect and repair and searched options and preferences but,
still not able to solve...

There is no option to empty the Sent Items folder. Select the items and
press Delete.

Notice that the option does not say "Empty Sent Items". Try the same thing
with Inbox. You'll see that the Delete options is unavailable there as
well. You cannot delete Outlook's default folders. Only "Deleted Items"
and "Junk E-mail" (for Outlook 2003/2007) have the "Empty" action available
on the right-click context menu. For all other folders, open the folder,
select the items (Ctrl-A will selecte them all) and press or click Delete.
