Hi, We have a laptop running office xp and wish to use outlook when away from
office, i believe this can be done through cached exchange mode, we have set
this in the options but when we open outlook offline we get an error message
and outlook will not open, does anybody have a step through guide to setting
this up on office XP.

Many thanks

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/286038 might be helpful.

Note: You need to be on the corporate lan (be able to connect to Exchange)
when setting up offline folders the first time. Reason why is that Outlook
has to sync the offline folder store at least 1 time before you can start
Outlook offline. Just double check the send/receive settings and make sure
that Outlook is forcing a sync about every hour when connected (it keeps the
folders fairly up to date and shortens the Outlook shutdown since it only
has to replicate the last hour worth of changes).

I didn't think Cached Exchange mode was available in Outlook 2002. Instead
try Offline Folders.
