I use Outlook 2003 and have a BlackBerry 8800 that I love except for one
problem. When I read and delete email messages on the BB, it gives a choice
of deleting from the handheld only or from both the handheld and the server.
I click to delete most messages from both. RoadRunner tells me that this
does, indeed, delete the message from the server. BUT, when I get back to my
PC and open Outlook, the deleted messages are still there. This is a major
pain after a long trip when 230 emails that I don't want to see are still
waiting on my PC. Can anyone help me avoid this problem?
Thanks,
BA

Do you mean OL is left running or that you start OL & the mail is
downloaded?

It happens when I start OL and hit "send/receive" to get my mail. This can
be a week or more after I have deleted the mail "from handheld and server" on
my BlackBerry.

It would appear then that your BB is not deleting the msgs on the server, a
problem with either your BB settings or ISP I would suggest.

Due to your mention of Road Runner, it appears you're using a POP account.

Outlook downloads a message from the server (leaving a copy there) and
stores it locally. The Blackberry downloads from the same server. You
delete the message on the Blackberry and the server. Outlook cannot know
that you've altered the data on the server. POP protocols simply do not
contain that type of information. How do you expect Outlook to ever know
what you do on the server while it's not connected to that server and how
can you expect the server to reach down into your local Outlook data store
and delete anything there?
