Outlook asking to configure emails / previous configurations gone
Each time I open my new Outlook (2007), it asks me to configure email
accounts. I have already done this twice (and each time the information is
lost when I re-open Outlook). I have also lost all previous email (both
imported from Outlook 2003 on old computer and emails received and sent in
previous session on new computer).
In other words, each time I open Outlook, it is acting as if it has never
been configured and all previous information is lost.

Personal Folders Backup (Add In)
Recently installed Office 2003 to a new Vista Premium computer. Was able to
restore my original .pst file from old computer and everything so far works
fine. Also installed the Personal Folders Backup tool from Microsoft that I
have been using for my backup.
When I execute the backup I no longer see the progress dialog box, however,
the backup.outlook.pst is created with the proper size and date. Is anyone
else seeing this behavior? Although the file seems to be creating OK I'd feel
more comfortable seeing the progress box I'm used to.

How can my BlackBerry delete messages from both it and Outlook?
I use Outlook 2003 and have a BlackBerry 8800 that I love except for one
problem. When I read and delete email messages on the BB, it gives a choice
of deleting from the handheld only or from both the handheld and the server.
I click to delete most messages from both. RoadRunner tells me that this
does, indeed, delete the message from the server. BUT, when I get back to my
PC and open Outlook, the deleted messages are still there. This is a major
pain after a long trip when 230 emails that I don't want to see are still
waiting on my PC. Can anyone help me avoid this problem?

Outlook / Exchange without roaming profiles?
Hello,
I want to setup outlook so that when a user logs in outlook
automatically connects to the correct mailbox on the exchange server
for that user, can this be done with the login script somehow?
Right now I am using roaming profiles, so when a user moves from PC to
PC their outlook is setup.
I would like to get away from roaming profiles. Is there any other
way to do this so that when outlook is launched, it just knows which
user is logged in and uses that user as the outlook settings?

I have done the connect to the Internet Wizard correctly. I can connect

When configuring Outlook 2007, it requires the name of the Exchange Server.
What is the exact syntax of the Exchange Server.

Get 'Outlook has encountered a problem' error msg whenever I open
I've recently converted from Outlook 2007 back to Outlook 2003 by
uninstalling 2007 and then installing 2003. Now, whenever I open 2003 I get
the 'Outlook has encountered a problem' error message whenever I open the
pgm.
It looks like Outlook is trying to configure something before I get the
error message b/c I see the 'Configuring Outlook' box with the lines
'Creating Welcome Message', 'Migrating Preferences', and 'Importing User
Data' just before I get the 'encountered a problem' message. Then, if I
don't send the error report to MS, the program seems to go in a loop,
continually bring up the 'encountered a problem' message until I say to send
the error report. After that, I get the 'Outlook didn't close normally the
last time it closed, do you want to start it in safe mode?' which I say yes
to.
Interestingly, after starting Outlook up, I always have 2 Outlook icons in
my Quickstart menu. I've deleted one of them, but it always reappears after
I've started Outlook.

Did uninstalling Office 2007 delete Outlook email folders?
I uninstalled Office 2007 from my wife's old PC and then installed Office

been using the Outlook 2007 to download POP (not Exchange) mail from yahoo

conversation view?
In the Outlook 2007 help it shows that you can sort your mailbox by
conversation that that messages within the conversation should be
sorted and indented by thread (who replies to who). I'm trying to get
this to work with my Gmail IMAP account. The messages are grouped into
conversations, but they are not properly threaded. There's no
indentation at all and the sort order is just wrong (neither sorted
correctly by reply or by date).

Outlook freezes straight after launching.
[Also posted in Outlook General: apologies if this is inappropriate.]
Outlook freezes straight after launching.
The Outlook window appears, my email messages load, then my Tasks appear,
then they (Tasks) disappear.
Then the mouse cursor disappears whenever I try to move it over the Outlook
pane (as though the cursor is disappearing under it).
Sometimes I get an error message saying â??Another application has the Switch
Identities or Identity Login dialog showing. Choose an Identity in that
dialog before launching this application again.â??
Nothing responds. If I right-click on the Outlook button on the Toolbar, the
â??Restore...Minimize...Closeâ?? dialog appears, but none of the choices does
anything.
Ctrl_Alt_Del => Windows Task Manager shows Outlook â??Runningâ?? and â??End Taskâ??
shuts it down immediately.
Iâ??ve tried
1. Diabling virus scanning and firewall (Kaspersky)
2. Uninstalling the only Add-In (Cloudmark Desktop)
3. Running â??Outlook Repairâ?? (when it wasnâ??t quite as bust as it is now)
4. Repairing Office from the Installation DVD
5. Removing and re-installing Office (twice) from the Installation DVD
6. Starting Outlook in â??Safe Modeâ?? from Start/Run
7. Going back to a Restore Point â?? but these only go back 3 days, and Iâ??ve
been wrestling with the problem for over two weeks now.
8. Repairing/tidying the Registry (with Max Registry Cleaner)
9. Requesting free â??supportâ?? from Microsoft. But they want the Product ID
Number which their downloaded app canâ??t retrieve, and I canâ??t get at because
Outlook wonâ??t start...
None of these makes any discernible difference.
I wonder if itâ??s some sort of display problem, because the Outlook window
gets sort of â??carved upâ?? when I open other application windows over it.
My outlook.pst file is 236MB.
Everything else â?? including all my other Office 2007 apps â?? works just like
before.
Iâ??m running Win 97 Pro with all updates installed â?? (I believe: I have
Automatic Updates turned on). Since everything else continues to work as
before, I presume details of my hardware are irrelevant, but if they can help
anyone to help me, Iâ??ll gladly post them.
Has anyone experienced anything similar?

I have Outlook 2007 sp1 running on windows vista business edition. I have an

Outlook 2007 creating multiple personal folders
We are experiencing some random issues with Outlook 2007 where a user will
open Outlook and will immediately get a pop-up that states "This information
service has not been configured. Select an existing file to configure, or
type the name of a new file to create". Clicking OK lets you select a new or
existing PST file. Choosing either causes another pop-up stating "Properties
for this information service must be defined prior to use". Clicking OK sends
you back to the original pop-up. During this loop, Outlook is unusable and
the only way to exit the application is using Task Manager to kill the
process. During this process Outlook creates hundreds of Personal Folders.
We have tried creating a new Outlook profile and uninstalling and
reinstalling Office, but the issue always seems to come back within a few
days. The only definitive solution we have found so far is to give the user a
new machine, which obviously isn't going to work.
Any ideas?

Default New Mail Messages Yellow -- Cannot change
We seem to be stuck.
We have Outlook 2007 - installed recently. Everything was working great --
until -- we don't know what happened, BUT when we compose a new mail message,
the background is gridded and the font is yellow (on white so we cannot see
it!).
I have gone into Tools --> Options --> Mail Format --> Stationary & Fonts
--> Font for new mail messages on both profiles and tried to force the font
black (so black instead of automatic) and tried to reset the fonts by
selecting +Body under fonts to no avail. We start a new email message and we
have the grid and the yellow font.
Replying and Forwarding messages font comes out black, however, it is not
the font we tell it -- it's New Times Roman, instead of Arial that we
selected -- tried resetting that +Body under font, but nothing changes.
Please help!

Moving Outlook from PC to laptop and back WITHOUT getting duplicat
Hi All,
This community was very helpful when I needed to move a copy of my Outlook
2003 .PST on to a laptop to travel for business. When I returned I wanted to
copy the new information from work done on the laptop back to my desktop, My
problem is, whenever I copy a .PST or open a new .PST file, ALL of my mail
that is saved on the email server downloads again and I end up with duplicate
emails. I then have to go through and delete countless emails and hope I
don't delete all copies of an email and then not have a particular one. Is
there a way to move between the laptop and the desktop so this does not
happen? I need to leave a copy of the mail on the server in case I need to
access it when my laptop is not with me. I can work the contacts back and
forth through my blackberry if I have to but I'm more concerned about the
email. I can't work off the blackberry for ALL of my email when I am out of
town. I would just like to have an exact copy of all the Outlook features
(contacts, emails, journals, everything) put onto my laptop for travel and
then be able to move that with any new info back to the desktop.
Any help figuring this out once and for all would be greatly appreciated! Tag: Web Access Tag: 90321
