I am trying to send 2007 word document to recipients using outlook express.

The attachments appear as docx files and the recipient cannot open the doc
at all.

I don't understand why this is happening, or what to do to rectify this
problem.

This is frustrating my customers and me.

This is the second time I've posted this message, I had a response, but the
link took me to an empty page, so please check that any response is correctly
linked.

docx is the new word 2007 format. if your recipients don't have word 2007 or
the converters installed they can't open it. go to word's office icon, word
options dialog and click on Save on the left. Choose word 97-2003 doc format
as the default save format.
