outlook 2007 search problems

Outlook 2007 has serious problems finding names, numbers, etc. The index
status show as finished, the contact is properly created, name, last name, it
has a valid email, it has been saved already. In a new mail, when checking a
name to let outlook find the e-mail address of that contact, it does not find
even the contact but you can see it if you look for it manually.

Also it is impossible to find a contact searching by it's telephone number.

Is there any way to change Windows desktop search with Google desktop search?

Not to change but you can certainly install it. You won't be able to search
with it from within Outlook though.
