trying to set up outlook on personal computer, have all the user information,
log in data, and the pop3 and smtp data but when finished setting up, and do
the test account settings, it fails. I am using a wireless router with WEP,
could this be affecting my set-up of outlook and causing it to fail? If this
is what is causing the problem, how do I get around it?

No. What does the error message say when the test fails?

Gordon,
I am using office XP, outlook 2002, the following are the error
messages I get.

Send test e-mail message:the specified server was found, but there was no
response from the server. Please verify that the port and SSL information is
correct. To access these settings close this dialog, then clkick More
Settings and click on the Advanced tab
Find outgoing mail server (SMTP): Unable to connect to the outgoing mail
server (SMTP). Please verify the server name in the outgoing mail sever
field. If that information is correct, close this dialog, click More
settings and verify the port and SSL information on the Advanced tab.
Those are the error messages
under tasks: it says Established network connection completed, Find
outgoing mail sever (SMTP) Failed, Find incoming mail server (pop3)
completed, Log onto incoming mail server (POP3),
Michelle Davidson: Send test e-mail message Failed

Sounds to me if the server settings are either wrong, or your ISP's mail
servers are down....
What OS are you using?

Outlook 2002 is not compatible with Vista, but sometimes it will work. At
best, you'll be prompted constantly for your mailbox password, since Vista
doesn't store passwords the same way prior Windows versions did.

Make absolutely sure your server names, ports, and security options are
chosen correctly.

it works better.

Outlook 2002 is not supported on Vista, so you may well get errors which
can't be fixed....
