    - .msg attachments Occasionally someone sends me an email message with an attachment that has a msg extension, and when I try to open it in Outlook, nothing happens. This just happened again today, and I would like to show the details here and see if someone can tell me how to correct it in future. I am running Outlook 2002 with Vista. The message came with an attachment of a file labeled blablabla.msg (649k). There was no text in the message window, just the file name shown under attachments. I tried to open the attachment in Outlook by right clicking and selecting "open" but nothing happened. Then I copied the file to my desktop and tried to open it with Notepad and Word, and I got some garbled information - enough to know that somewhere in there was both a text message and an attached file. Then I forwarded this email to another email account I have that I rarely use, and found that it included a text message with an attached Excel file, and I was able to read both. This is at Yahoo.com So my question is what is the deal with Outlook that I couldn't read this, and what do I need to change in settings or whatever to fix it? Thanks for any help.     - Email From Specific Sender Comes Through As Html Hi Everyone, When I get an email from a specific sender the email comes through all jumbled up, it appears to be in html format below is an example. I have been using outlook for years and receive hundreds of emails a week but the ones from this particular sender are all jumbled. I have checked the email on the server and looks normal.     - Out of Office Assistant I have a user who is on the exchange server. She has set up her Out of Office Assistant to what she wants the message to say, however, when she gets an email or sends herself a test email (from the same account and an alternate POP account) she recieves an old OoO Assistant message. When sending the test email from the exact same account she gets two OoO messages, the new one and the old one. How does this happen and what can be done to correct this problem. We also use OWA (Outlook Web Access) and checking the OoO Assistant there proves that she has the same current message in OWA. Please help as this has me and my colleages stumped. Thanks IT in Indy!!     - Outlook repeated requests for Network Password I am having a problem with Outlook's repeated requests for my Network Password. I can't even do the test send/receive as other users have been able to do, as it fails. (I know this has been asked several times, but there are no answers out there that work for me - I have tried them all.) I am using Windows XP and Outlook 2007. I have been using Outlook 2007 fine with no problems for about 2 months now, the problem just started happening today. I did make a change on my computer, today i installed a software called Remove from Group. I removed that software after having this issue and the issue persists. I have turned off automatic send/receive and the problem persists. The only other thing different that I am doing today is I am using Act 2008 to send the emails, however other people at my company with the same configuration have been doing this as well with no issues. I have followed all suggestions including those at Article ID 209684 in MS Help and Support, as well as the suggestions from JeePee to check my registry to make sure it has all the necessary files.     - Public Task List Hello, I'm trying to automatically forward email to a public task list but have failed so far. First I just tried to "mail enable" the task on the Exchange 2003 server like I do with other public folders, but the task list I created does not show up under public folders in Exchange System Manager, only public folders. Then I created a new account with a mailbox, opened Outlook with that user and created a rule to forward all mail sent to that email address to be put into the public task list. Well that worked, but when I close Outlook 2003, the rule does not perform. I need the messages to show as soon as they arrive at the Exchange server. Is there any way to accomplish this?     - Recover Outlook from crashed computer Lighting recently hit near my brothers business, and fried most of the electronics and surge protectors, including his business computer. We went out and bought a new one from Best Buy(Time constraints). I put in the hard drive from his fried computer, and it is working fine as a slave in the new system now, so I can get all his files off. He used outlook for pop3 email through yahoo premium, as well as contacts for all his clients, and the calender he used for scheduling. This is the only place he has all the contact information for some 500+ clients. Hes needless to say kinda freaking out, the calender has all his appointments and he will miss most of them until we can get it recovered. The Fried computer is Windows XP with Office 2007 professional, and new computer is Vista Home Premium with Office 2007 Professional. How do I recover from this?     - outlook 2007 remains in a disconnected state Hello. I have users who connect to outlook on our vpn over a sprint mobile broadband connection. It works fine with OL2002, but for some reason, users of OL2007 start up and remain in a disconnected state (even though we have configured OL2007 to prompt the user to "connect or work offline" when it first starts), it remains disconnected even though they hit connect when prompted. Hitting send/receive or F9 just results in it giving a message saying it is not connected. I can ping the exchange 2007 server over the connection. All of our other apps that connect over the vpn work fine, except OL2007. Is there anyway to try and make OL2007 connect? Thanks.     - restore sound when mail item is permanently deleted I have been using Office 2007 for about a year, and this morning something changed. Historically, when I would designate a mail item for permanent deletion (by hitting shift and delete at the same time), a dialog box would pop up asking me if I was sure that I wanted that item to be permanently deleted. When the dialog box appeared, a sound was made simultaneously. (I believe that if I clicked yes to the question in the dialog box, another sound was made.) Today, for no apparent reason, there are no sounds made. I opened Control Panel and selected "sounds" to see if Outlook was among the programs listed where certain actions within a program could be accentuated with sounds, but i see that Outlook is not listed. Everytime I open up Outlook 2003 I get the "End User Licence" showing, and once I agree to this everything is ok. But this happens every time I use Oulook 2003, it is anoying.     - Outlook 2007 Junk Email Filter Has a Mind Of Its Own??!! I cant seem to get the junk email filter to save my preferences. As soon as I close Outlook and re-open it the saved preferences are gone. I have the junk emial filter set to low and as soon as I close and re-open it has set back to High. Also evertime I save someone in safe senders, the filter decides on its own to never obey. The junk email filter continues to mark itmes as junk when they have been saved as Safe.     - Conflicts with another appointment Hi Please can you advise me as to why there is a message in my appointment stating "Conflicts with another appointment". I do not know why the 18:00 appointment is conflicting, if you could let me know that would be very helpful. The appointments details are: There is appointment from 18:00 to 18:30. The next appointment is 19:00-1930 and within that appointment it states "Adjacent to another appointment in your calendar". Then there is a further appointment from 1930-20:00 and within that appointment it states "One instance of this recurring appointment is adjacent to another appointment". The other problem is that I would like to see all my appointments even though they are conflicing or adjacent when I sync my calendar with my mobile phone.     - Task Recurrence With Outlook Connector Issue Hi I was wondering if anyone can help with the above and the problem I have. Basically, I'm using Outlook 2003 on a Windows XP SP2 computer. I have installed the Outlook Connector to synchronise with my Hotmail account (standard account not Hotmail Plus). Following this I have selected the Deliver New Email To The Following Location to show my Hotmail account as the default and closed the Personal Folder. I'm aware that the Hotmail account I have will not synchronise with my Outlook Calender, Tasks etc but it still allows me to use these Features in Outlook. My problem therefore is that I'm unable to use the recurring feature in Outlook. Everytime I try to select a task recurrence a window opens prompting Outlook Connector Does Not Support This Recurrence Pattern. Any help would be appreciated - one last point; in my Calender I have recurring Birthdays that have been created via the Birthday field in my Contacts??     - Adding Editable Column to inbox Messages? Truly it is even easier. I am looking to be able to TAG my messages and be able to sort by that tag. I get hundreds of emails a day and it is daunting to keep creating new folders then coping that email into that folder and then keeping it organized from there. I was able to add a column named "Project" to the list but is there a way to be able to edit that column on a right click or double click basis? This way I can type in a quick note that identifies this email relative to a specific project and I can archive my emails with a simple sort and grab. Any insight would be a major step forward.     - Outlook 2003: How to raise number of items in "Favorite Folders" l I need access to a whole lot of mail folders that reside on the company Exchange server, so I make them favorites and put them in the "Favorite Folders" list / bar. But there appears to be a limit to a total of number of items that can reside in this list / bar, so new additions just push out older ones using an alpha-numerical sort. Not likely real or a sales pitch. Phishing attempt most likely. Check the
headers of the message. Do they match the source e-mail address?

Microsoft does not send out unsolicited update notifications. You did
well not to open them, as they will most likely lead you to some malware.

If you view them in your junk mail folder, you will see that all the links
are to third party websites where you will get malware, spyware, trojans,
keyloggers, etc.
