lost compacted mails OE6.0
Please Help. While OE 6.0 compacting my mails to save the memory space,
suddenly the computer (Window XP) shut down and restart. Seemed like all
'send' and 'deleted' mails were saved before the shut down, but part of
'received' mails were lost ... since 2006...two years worth of mails were
gone. 2004-2006 were saved. Is there anyway for me to retreve those lost

Windows VISTA Ultimate, Offoce 2003, Intel Centrino vPro, 2 gig ram, 250 HD.
Situation: I receive attachments from several sources. They are mp3, ra, ram
etc. No prolems except with one source where I receive the attachment
imbedded in the message. Same file type from other sources are received as
attachments. This is not the same with other people who receive the same
message with attachment.

This is not a Security program problem. I have removed it completely and it
persists. It has been reinstalled. McAfee support was involved. This most

Email Not Received On 1 of 5 Accounts
Using Outlook 2003 SP3 for 5 email accounts. Mave Business Contact Manager
2.00.5324.00 installed but don't think it's relavent to issue since it's
little used and has been there for two years without incident. Around 7/1/08
I began getting this message each time my email accounts were checked:
Task 'jhg - Receiving' reported error (0x8004210A) : 'The operation timed
out waiting for a response from the receiving (POP) server. If youcontinue
to receive this message, contact your server administrator or Internet
service provider (ISP).'
ISP is Time WArner Road Runner who ran me through the hoops and finally
drove me here. They did admit there may be "a temporary server issue" but
made no attempt to investigate further. They finally drove ne here.
Can anyone give me a clue? I finally delerted the account and reentered it
thinking some part of the file may have been corrupted. The other four email
accounts run there check coourse without incident. This fifth is the only

Basically this file contains 1 meeting from 10:00 till 11:00 hrs. But when I open the item it appears two hours later in my outlook calendar (12:00 til 13:00). This happens in outlook 2007 only, works fine in outlook 2003.
The time-zone is correct (Which should not matter at all since there is no timezone info in the VCS file.)
Any clue as what the problem could be?

O2003, pst corrupted?
I had trouble with a fresh install of O2003 after an hdd
wipe/reinstall. I messed up in that I didn't import the PST. I set
it as the target PST first only. _Then_ I tried importing it.
Somehow that seems to have screwed things up. After importing, I only
got the calendar and tasks but no emails. And I forgot to make a copy
first (I know, bad!).
Is there anything that can be done to salvage this? I've been
battling this since day before yesterday and haven't come up with a

toolbars cannot be selected
Hi,
I am using my Mum's computer (she has VISTA & I'm struggling) and her
OUtlook 2007 has 'turned off' her toolbar that contains 'New', 'reply' 'reply
all', etc... it is grey and cannot be selected. This means that she can't
compose mail, or reply to any, but she is receiving new mail during this
problem. I am aware that if she was using XP I would change a file to have a
different ending (like .dat) but i think that it might be dfferent when using
Vista and 2007 outlook.

Suddenly not receiving all messages in Outlook 2007
In the last week or so, I have not received all the messages in Outlook that
I have received in Webmail for the same account. I contacted the ISP, which
provides the mail server, and during the call it dawned on me to set up
Outlook Express for the same account (set to leave a copy on the server).
Sure enough, I got ALL the mail from the server in Outlook Express, but not
in Outlook, which narrows down the problem to Outlook. I checked my spam
folders and the deleted folder, but the messages never made it to either
place. I do have rules set up to move mail from many addresses to specified
folders, including at least some of the addresses of the missing mail, but
the rules aren't working. I really don't understand why so many of the rules
I've set up in Outllook 2003 and 2007 never work and some of the others work
intermittently. But I don't think my problems with rules are the culprit
here, or at least the messages would have made it to the inbox. Does anybody

Opening a html link on Outlook is inconsistent
In the same email a link will open up the "Locate Link Browser", while
another link located lower in the email will open up the proper webpage. If
I cut and paste the defective link into IE then the link works. Why is this

2 questions about Save My Settings Wizard
First, I have heard that there is an .ini file you can use to customize what
is backed up by the Save My Settings Wizard. If this is true, can I modify
this .ini file to ONLY backup my Outlook email account settings?
Second, if I can do # 1, is it possible to save this .ini file as a custom
file and then run the settings wizard using my custom .ini file? If so, how?

Charter says I am not blocked and is encouraging me to use there mail server
online. They say they can't help me with this because they are not

Outlook 2007 only "partially" closing at times
Running Outlook 2007 SP1 in a hosted Exchange environment (host is still on
2003 server), on XP Pro SP2. Relatively new system.
Lately, sometimes when I close Outlook, the Reminders window fails to close
with it and I have to close it manually, and then when I later relaunch
Outlook it fails to prompt me for the username and password and just opens my
Profile and is online.
Sometimes, it doesn't do this: it closes the Reminders window fine, and when
later launching Outlook again it prompts me for the username and password --
like it's supposed to do and like it always used to do.
If I go into Task Manager - Processes and choose OUTLOOK.EXE - End Process
Tree, it will go back to proper behavior, but it won't last very long.
I've tried wiping the local Profile and restoring it from scratch, but it

2003 server with 2007 client -- Categories won't work right?
We use a hosted Exchange Server provider who still has us on 2003 server
while we're runnning Outlook 2007 SP1 at the local clients.
All is fine in general, of course, but we've been told by the hosting
service that one of the main features of 2007 that won't work properly until
they go to the 2007 server is Categories.
This has just become a very important topic to us since we've learned that
the best way to manage our Contacts is with Categories (and not Distribution
Lists).
How can I obtain a thorough and accurate picture of exactly what will be
lacking if we begin to use Categories at this time: what will be lacking now,
and what if anything will be lost or changed once the host does go to 2007
server?
Or should we just resign ourselves to not implementing the use of Categories

Outlook 2007 - Mulitple Windows
In previous versions of Outlook if i had several outlook windows opened at
the same time (one each for Inbox, Calendar, Contacts. etc.) they would re
open once i closed and re opened outlook provided i use the file / exit way

I had some serious driver issues that required re-installing XP from
disc. I did use the backup option and have a backup of all the old
data. And of course had to reinstall Office 2003.

My Deleted Items folder has disappeared!
As the subject says, my 'Deleted Items' folder has disappeared from my Mail
folders display.
Running O2007 in XPSP2.
If I check the properties (folder size) of the personal folders, I can see
that the folder exists and has data (105Mb!) in it.
Under the folder list view it shows: Contacts, Sent Items, Outbox, Junk,
Drafts, Inbox, Tasks, Calendar.
I haven't knowingly deleted it - how do I get it back (so I can tidy it up!)
I have tried stopping and starting Outlook, but I haven't tried rebooting
the PC (yet!).

AutoCorrect Disappearing
Using Windowx XP Pro with latest updates and Office 2007.
I have entered AutoCorrect items into Outlook for replies to an email, and
they keep disappearing when I start outlook again or reboot. This is very
frustrating. Any ideas?
Is it possible to enter AutoCorrect from the main menu instead of only when
replying to a message? Reply is the only time you get the Office Button that
has the proofing/autocorrect option.
When you double click on an email to view it all, if you click X to delete,
the next email is displayed in full screen. I would rather go back to the
list of emails, since I can delete many by reading only the first few words.
Any ideas how to set this up?

Emails not downloading
This maky not be and Outlook problem, but I have tried everything else and am
now clutching at straws.
Have been using Outlook 2003 SP3 for a few years, have recently had the
problem where my emails are not downloading from the Webmail server as it
always had. My first point of call was my email provider, who have tested
everything and all is fine. Contacted the ISP and they have washed there
hand of it as it is an incoming email problem only and eveything internet
related in working as normal.
I do not get an error message - the send and receive attempts as normal but
it downloads so slow that unless the emails are small (less than 20kb) they
never get to me. So far I have deleted the email account and re-set it up.
Run a detect and repair. I have tried downloading on another computer at a
different location and had no problems.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Text view jumps to top when composing email Outlook 2007
When I am composing an email the view often jumps to the top of the email
text even though the cursor remains at the bottom. This means that if the
text is very long I have to scroll down the page to continue to see what I am
typing. I do not see that it is related to any particular keyboard entry.
It does this at seemingly random, annoying times. I'm using Office 2007 on XP

I am trying to oonfigure our Outlook accounts at work and am getting nowhere. We have 3 laptops and I want them all to access the mailto:admin@abc.com address. I have set them up and they are receiving them but only in a fashion. :(
I am having several problems with the set up. The emails don't always come through on each machine, its like whoever gets it frst gets it which I don't understand. I just want it so we can all read them and respond to them and see when someone else has responded, which should be easy enough as the arrow icon will show won't it?

Assign and share Outlook tasks by group
Hello,
I need help with creating and sharing tasks in Outlook. I have a 5
shift staff that I have broken up into staff groupings in outlook. I
want to create a task in outlook for everyone, but when one person in
the group answers that the task is completed, it fills in as complete
and does not require anyone else in the group to provide an update.

Reliabilty Monitor
I use Office 2007 SP1 with automatic updates so I am up to date, I
think.
Looking at the Reliability Monitor it shows that every day OUTLOOK.EXE
Stopped working three or four times, unfortunately there are no times

Category colours in outlook 2007
I have seen a lot of related threads in these discussion groups, but I cannot
get my problem solved...
this problem only arrises on one pc with XP Pro and Office Outlook2007 in a
domain with 15 similar machines. They all are connected to Exchange.
When selecting a category for an appointment in a public calender, this
category is only visible on this pc. Other users just see an entry with the
default color, with no category selected. However, it works well the other
way around! When any of the other users enter an appointment and selects a
category, it's visible immediatly, even on our problem-pc.
I've tried to reinstall Office, with no luck however...
Any suggestions?

Automatically schedule .pst backups via Backup tool?
I downloaded the Outlook backup tool plugin which looks like it will just
copy the .pst file after you exit it. This is simple, but does what I want.
But can I automatically schedule this backup? It has a reminder for me to
do so, but it looks like it's just a reminder, and I have to do a
file->backup to execute this.
Can I have it automatically save the backup file every X days? If so, how?

Constantly having to Re-Enter Network Password
I just changed my cable-modem and now I keep getting the "Enter Network
Password" dialog box in OL2003 when I click Send/Receive. It already shows
a password in the field. Also, if I enter the password again (and put a
check in the Remember Password box), it still asks for the password again,
and again.
I have tried the solution to repair the protected storage system, found at

I setup a signature for my e-mails.
I selected Font size 16 and the color Blue.

Save all "inserted" pictures in Outlook 2007
When someone sends me an e-mail with pictures that have been "attached", I
can click on "file" then "save attachments" to save all the pictures to my
hard drive at once. However, how do I save all the pictures that have been
"Inserted" into the e-mail. They do not always show up in the "save
attchments" list. Some times I get e-mail where the pictures are viewable in
