hi there,

I need to place the "Categorize" command onto the quick access toolbar of a
message form (IPM.note) because I need to set categories during creation of
an email message (I am using rules on outgoing messages).

while I am able to add the "Categorize" command on virtually any other form
(create/read appointment, create/read task, etc), I do not find the
"Categorize" command (CategorizeMenu) to be added when I create an email
message. is this possible anyway?

this is how it looks like when I try to add Categorize to any type of form
(except send email): http://smilebear.info/pics/S-080509-01.jpg
this is how it looks like when I try to add Categorize to a create new email
message form: http://smilebear.info/pics/S-080509-07.jpg

I did a workaround with a macro (and also have the "Message Options"
command), but I'd rather liked to have the "Categorize" menu button on the
quick access toolbar.

while we are at it, even with the macro, I can't see the applied category
during message creation. in every other form, I can see the category
immediately in a bar between ribbon and quick access toolbar. can I enable
this as well?

thanks

dan

Looks to me like when you have "Categorize" in the list you are using
Outlook 2007 but when you are composing an Email you are actually using Word
2007 as your editor and it does not have "Categorize".

I assume that's because in OL07 it's not expected you want to send
categories. (And it doesn't without adding an entry to the registry.)

Dan with a third-party tool you don't have to live with that. Category
Manager adds a sidebar with your categories; that works also for outgoing
emails. For details and the download see the link in my signature, please.

You can't send categories on outgoing email. See if Category Manager meets
your needs - it will bring the categories to the forefront so you won't
forget.

to say the truth.. I do something very simple.

I am using a rule on all outgoing messages.. the one that hold back the
immerdiate sending of the message. I wait 1 minute before it is actually
leaving the outbox... except... if that category flag "Urgent" is set (this
is NOT the urgent flag anyone can set over the message options).

I do not really want to send out categories...

anyway, I solved the thing by writing a short macro. it would just have been
convenient to see it work the same like with meeting requests and such..
where "Categorize" works and I can actually see what category was assigned..

never mind. the macro solution is good enough.

thanks to all
