How do I set a rule to move mail from inbox to a folder after reading
Hi. Currently I have a bunch of folders sorted by sender, and
incoming emails go directly into thier respective folders if I have a
rule set for that sender. I now need messages to go to the inbox
until I read them and then automatically be moved to their respective
folder. The reason for this is that I have a new phone that only
notifies me when new messages are in my inbox on the server, and I
need to know when I get emails from certain people. Currently they
just go straight to a folder and I get no notification.
Any help is appreciated. Tag: User can't receive email until he clicks on another folder Tag: 576841

How do I see Folder List and Shortcuts at simultaneously
I have lots of folders and some are expandable. In Outlook before 2003, I
could display the Folder List & Shortcuts at the same time. If there was an
expandable folder off screen on the Folder List and it was in Shortcuts,
clicking on the folder in Shortcuts would place the folder at the bottom of
the screen highlighted. Then it was easy to click on the folder and open it
up.
With Outlook 03 and 07 Shortcuts are useless on expandable folders. In
Folder List, if a folder is off screen, you have to scroll down. My scrool

autocompletion cache vanishes
Outlook 2003 -- Exchange server
It's happened to me and a few of my users. One day, for no apparent reason,
the autocompletion cache just seems to vanish. Users start typing an email

happens.
Unfortunately, too many people rely on this list and don't put addresses in
their Contacts.
Can anyone explain why they may vanish and how to stop it from happening?

outlook express 6.0 images blocked
I use Outlook Express for my mailtool and for the last 8+ months I've been
having problems. I have Netscape as my internet provider and my mail
initially goes to the Netscape mailtool. From there it gets downloaded to
Outlook Express.
The mail looks okay in Netscape, but after it gets to Outlook Express most
of the pictures have been replaced by white boxes with red X's (My mail is
set up to download images. Attachments come through okay).
I have worked with Netscape to try and determine if there were any problems
with their mailtool and it was determined that everything was okay.

The one to Italy went through but no one (not even myself) received the first

One of my users is using AOL as his internet provider. He says that he can
send multiple file attachments with AOL, but not with his Outlook. The SMTP
server settings are the same, but for some reason, he cannot send multiple

Unfortunately the user is significantly remote from me (as in multiple

his computer is saying. I don't really have much more info, although I can
get more information, albeit second-hand. Tag: User can't receive email until he clicks on another folder Tag: 576776

Why can't I place the "Categorize" command on the quick access toolbar?
hi there,
I need to place the "Categorize" command onto the quick access toolbar of a

an email message (I am using rules on outgoing messages).
while I am able to add the "Categorize" command on virtually any other form

"Categorize" command (CategorizeMenu) to be added when I create an email
message. is this possible anyway?
this is how it looks like when I try to add Categorize to any type of form

this is how it looks like when I try to add Categorize to a create new email
message form: http://smilebear.info/pics/S-080509-07.jpg
I did a workaround with a macro (and also have the "Message Options"
command), but I'd rather liked to have the "Categorize" menu button on the
quick access toolbar.
while we are at it, even with the macro, I can't see the applied category
during message creation. in every other form, I can see the category
immediately in a bar between ribbon and quick access toolbar. can I enable
this as well?

Calendar not migrating properly from different computer

I managed to find an ost2pst.exe to run because Outlook 2007 does not seem

It worked pretty well for the most part. With one major exception:
NONE OF MY CALENDAR INFORMATION SHOWED UP!
Any ideas what I can do? I assume that the calendar information is in the
.ost file.
I used the ost2pst converter from here:

Perhaps it has some bugs?
Is tehre a way to get the .ost file to load directly into 2007 Outlook?

Outlook remains disconnected..."magically" reconnects later
Greetings,
I am probably hoping against all hopes that someone out here has experienced
an issue that I'm struggling with at my job. We are running Exchange 2003
SP2 and Outlook 2003 SP2 clients (plus latest security patches). The problem
is with a number of users who roam around one of our offices for meetings
using wireless connections. At some point, the users lose connectivity with
Exchange. When returning to their desk, they remain disconnected from
Exchange while Internet and local network access functions normally. No
matter what they do they cannot re-establish a connection with
Exchange...even after rebooting the device. This happens if they continue to
use a wireless connection or switch to a wired connection...doesn't matter.
When attempting to use the Send/Receive button, Outlook generates an error
code, 0x8004011D. After an hour or so of just waiting around, the connection
to Exchange is "magically" restored. We have checked for the possibility
that Exchange is hitting the 32 MAPI connection limit and won't let any more
but while analyzing a user in the disconnected state, it did not appear that
this was the case. Can anyone shed some light on what is going on and what
we might be able to do to at least force Outlook to reconnect with Exchange
so that the users don't have to wait? Thanks for any assistance you can
provide.

Using the same .pst on two computers
I use Outlook 2002 at home and at work. When I had Outlook 2000, I was able
to copy my .pst file to my thumbdrive and take it to my work computer thus
keeping my file up to date. The process seems to work with 2002, however,
when I try to access my email, Outlook 2002 keps asking me for the password
to my accounts. I have to go into my account setup and re-enter the paswords
every time.
By the way, when I had Outlook 2000, I had Windows XP Pro on both machines.
I now have Windows Vista on both new machines. Before I blame Outlook 2002, I
am hoping someone lets me know if there is a compatibility issue that could
be causing this between Outlook 2002 and Windows Vista.

Can't send/receive; extend.dat; other issues Outlook 2003
I don't know if these issues are related or not, but I am having trouble

sometimes get the message that the extend.dat file didn't initialize.

Often I will then get various messages about changes to the normal.dot

Edit outgoing attachment without saving it
Apparently in Outlook 2000 users could attach a TIF file, open it, annotate
it, save the changes to the document right in the e-mail and send it along.
When they try that in Outlook 2003/2007 they're prompted to save the file to
a location on the hard disk which forces them to re-attach the edited
document and then send it along.
These files are temporary in nature and really only need to exist in e-mail
so saving them to the local machine is a needless step.

attachment reminder for MS Outlook
If the body of an email contains the word 'attachment' or any of it's common
varieties and there is no attachment when the send button is clicked then a
reminder asking if you need to include an attachment before sending the
message would be incredibly helpful and would certainly prevent many of us
from the embarassment of sending emails that referrence nonexistent
attachments.
FWIW, just my 2 cents.
