Synchronise folders on outlook 2007

Just recently Outlook 2007 has displayed an icon 'synchronising folders' and
then the 'send/receive' process slows to a crawl.
Can someone tell me what is causing this and how I can overcome it please?

Synchronising folders is when OL checks for mail ie send/receive
Ensure in your settings polling for new mail is not less than 10mins

Thanks DL. I don't poll for send/receive, I do it as and when I have several
items to send. It is exactly at this time that the 'syncronise folders' icon
appears - but this is recent and has only happened in the last few days.

Do you have any other ideas please?

Synching folders "is" OL sending/receiving. Why this has only just appeared
I cannot answer.
On installation, by default OL is set to poll for mail, every 5 mins, and to
send/receive on opening - unless you have modified the settings.
If you have AV software intergrated with OL this can also cause problems.

I have been having the same problem in the same way for a couple of months
now and no one can find a solution. It is driving me mad. Is there anyone who
can help please?
