    - HELP - Outlook Unresponsive and taking 52% CPU I just started experiencing a killer problem. I am running Outlook 2007 with Vista. Have had it for over a year. (BTW, I'm very technical. Honestly.) All was fine till March 27th. I had a problem with web browser connections (Outlook was able to connect fine though.) I took the opportunity to do a backup of my important items (docs, pics, mail). After the restart Outlook will eventually take up about 52% of CPU (not hogging one of 2 cores, just taking about 52%). Restarting Outlook means killing it in the Task Manager. I saw a brief message from Outlook saying something about Salesforce. Now it is no longer starting the salesforce add-in. But still is only quasi-responsive. It will let me shut it down from the task-manager, and task-manager reports it as 'running'. Before it gets up to 52% it is more responsive - that is I can still switch to the Outlook task. After it hits 52% point, I can't switch to it with the task manager, taskbar, or alt-tab. It will not draw itself on the screen. Cursor will not appear when over Outlook app on screen. Nothing I have done so far will make Outlook responsive. I let it run overnight. Came back to see 52% CPU and still unresponsive. Restart machine. Restart Outlook. On restart of Outlook it acts properly at first but then goes out to lunch. It prompts me to login to the old Exchange server but I normally just cancel that and have a different mailbox as my primary. This is the only part of Outlook that is responsive. If I give it a password (just to see what will happen) Outlook pops to 98% of CPU until it finishes attempting to login then returns to 52% and asks for new credentials. Credentials pop-up dialog is fully responsive, but Outlook is not. HELP! I saw another post from a similar user who seems to use BCM. I have BCM (bundled install) and I've played with it a bit, but I don't really use it, though it is present. On one shutdown Outlook recognized that I had messages in the outbox, displayed the dialog (do you really want to exit) but then would not respond to my click. I had to kill it again. I was all non-exchange until July 2007. Added an Exchange server and mailbox. I left the exchange server in January. Still have the post office and the exchange connection. I only left it around so I could get to the email. All was fine. I also had the Salesforce plug-in for Outlook. It's been active but I have not been using it. I planned to start using it again soon with a new Salesforce account. As for possible complications, I updated the Google Pack elements Skype and Picasa around the same time but I'm pretty sure they are unrelated. I closed down Skype and problem stays the same.     - Outlook 2007 will not open at all Just over a week ago Outlook stopped working completely on my laptop, if I try to load I get box which states Outlook has encountered a problem & needs to close ... Option to restart and send error report. Whichever options I take it still won't open not even in safe mode! I have run a diagnostic check and this has not revealed any errors and I'm at a loss as to what else I can do other than uninstall and reinstall!     - Error Importing Contacts This is the same problem others seem to be experiencing however I am not sure if it is the same solution. I have been trying to transfer my contacts from Outlook 2003 to a computer with Outlook from 2002. I created the .pst data file in 97-2002 format as previously described in another post. When I open the file in OL02 it will load the contacts. However, when OL is closed and later reopened, I experience the error that a program is trying to access my e-mail addresses. I am unable to click anything and shortly after OL will just close. If I go in and delete the .pst file I can then open OL successfully, but without my needed contacts. Any help with this situation would be greatly appreciated.     - Not receiving messages Iâ??m using Outlook 07, my incoming mail is maintained by a hosting company, and my outgoing mail is controlled by my cable company which I am forced to use. Many times when I send mail it can take hours to reach its destination, sometimes never at all. The same for mail sent to me. Sometimes there are attachments up to 4Mb; however often the attachments go through other times nothing. I have a distribution group of 15 people, using outlook I put the distribution group in the bcc address, about half the people get the message. Yet sending to the group individually all receive the message. When I called the cable company, they pointed the finger at my incoming mail provider and Outlook. When I called my incoming mail provider, yep, the same finger pointing. Is there any way to trace this problem? Also does Outlook stop or block large attachments incoming or out going?     - Outlook 2003 SP3 running on Vista Bus. Hangs every couple of minutes Seems to load fine then it tries to sync to the exchange server and hangs for a couple of minutes. After that it comes back to life for a little bit until it repeats the cycle. The cycles are about 8-10 minutes apart. I checked to make sure the antivirus add-in was disabled and no google desktop was running. Anyone have any other ideas? I also did a detect and repair and that didn't seem to help.     - Can send mail only from one of 2 accounts? Here's the situation. Using Outlook 2003 to access 2 different email addreses going to the same POP3 [non-Excgange server]. Account "account1" has been there since Outlook was set up and is on one domain (call it mail1.com). "Account2" on domain (call it mail2.com) was added recently. Both access the pop3 server mail.mail1.com. Both were working fine. Then at one point from the account1 account, the user could not send a message, but could with account2. [reminder that both accounts access the same mail server]. Send a second message via account1 and it also gets stuck. Outlook says it's a timeout problem.     - Outlook 2007 - Error Message - Cannot open your default e-mail fol Can someone HELP??? I have a vista laptop and xp desktop. I share the Outlook pst. file via my home network. I cut and pasted the archive and outlook pst file to a sharing file folder on my laptop but was not able to open it with Outlook. I moved back to its' original folder and didn't not change anything else. Now, I cannot access outlook at all from either computer. When Outlook launches I get, "Cannot open your default e-mail folders. File access is denied. You do not have the permission required to access the file \\RAMOSDESKTOP\Cynthia-Outlook\Outlook.pst." When I click OK Outlook closes down so I can never get in to either delete the path or repair it or change it. I believe whole heartedly that it is not the software but the pst file. HP had me uninstall the software and as I expected it did not resolve the issue. Does anyone have any insight to this issue?     - Outlook 2007 Out of Office stops working Currently running Outlook 2007 with Exchange 2007. Not sure if this is Exchange or Outlook. We have noticed that many users have had issues with the Out of Office feature where it basically just stops working. Sometimes it may work for one day other times for an hour. When going back into outlook the OOF still shows as enabled but just does not send any notices out either internal or external. Outlook 2003 with Vista Home Premium SP1 Most rules (approximately 20) are properly observed when new mail comes in, but some email is misrouted to the wrong folder (alway the same folder). If I move the misrouted email back to the inbox and rerun the rules then all mail is properly routed? How come there are some failures when mail is routed automatically, but not when manually routed?     - All Outlook Clients displaying wrong 'received' timestamp. Hello, We have a POP/SMTP server setup at our company. Recently, all of our Outlook clients (around 40 or so) have been adding an hour onto whatever time a message was received. The "sent" time displays correctly. In addition, all calendar entries are also at the correct time. This is occurring on ALL emails, regardless of sender. I have tried to duplicate the error in Thunderbird, Entourage, and Gmail, and have been unable to -- there are zero issues with the timestamps in those clients. All clients are running Windows XP Pro SP2 and Outlook 2003/2007, and are fully patched. I have verified the DST entries were updated in our systems. We are EST -05:00. Things we have tried thus far: -- Installing Office SP1 -- Unchecking "Automatically adjust time for daylight savings" in both Windows and Outlook. -- Adjusting the time in both Windows and Outlook. -- Changing the time zone in both Windows and Outlook -- Creating a new profile within Outlook. -- Using the Time Zone Tool (TZMOVE) supplied by Microsoft. -- Uninstalling and reinstalling the timezone hotfixes. -- Changing the time an hour back (Works temporarily, but we are on an active directory setup, so it goes out and pulls down the right time again from either our PDC or BDC, which throws off the Outlook timestamp again.). -- We called Microsoft, and the tech we got sent us a few test emails, which also came in with the right sent time but the wrong received time.     - Outlook 2003 Address book pops up after clicking Send.. One of my users is frustrated when trying to send emails within our network using Outlook 2003. After composing an email, including adding the person's email address/name to the To: line, the Global Address Book will pop up right when he clicks Send. He has valid email addresses in the To: field already, so he just ends up closing the address book and the email sends w/o further issues.     - Sync a .pst file between desktop and laptop I work for a volunteer organization and have a personal POP3 email account I use specifically for this purpose. I want to access email on both my desktop and laptop. I have tried the option of having my laptop leave the messages on the server, which works pretty good, with one exception....I don't get copies of mail I send from my laptop in my desktop "sent" folder. Beim ersten Aufruf von Outlook kommt die (korrekte) Meldung das die Desktopsuche nicht installiert sei (was auf einem TS ja auch nicht w=FCnschenswert ist) und das der User sich an den Admin wenden solle. Da diese Meldung nur zu =FCberfl=FCssigen Tickets f=FChrt, m=F6chte ich sie gerne deaktivieren. In der GPO gibt es dazu auch einen Eintrag "Installationseingabeaufforderung deaktivieren, falls die Komponente Windows Desktopsuche nicht vorhanden ist." die auch angewendet wird, aber leider keinen Effekt hat. I am constantly saving documents that come to me as attachments in emails in the same folder on my desktop but everytime I go to save a new file, it automatically opens my temp folder. wanted to activate the product by internet or phone. I seleted Internet but
the window just went away and every time I start Outlook it goes through the
same thing. I also tried going to help and activating it that way but get
the same results. Run Diagnostic & no problems found. Any thoughts?

What OS are you running? Are you logged in as an admin?

Win XP sp2. The program was installed as administrator but the notification
and activation attempts were done as the user (who also has local admin
rights).
