    - sending and receiving emails twice I have an Outlook2003 (POP3/SMTP) account. I receive and also send emails twice, the emails I receive twice are from POP3 accounts as well. This happens once in a while...not everytime I receive an email. How do i know what's causing the problem? how can I find out if is some type of hiccup? I have no rules assigned.     - Outlook2007 Account Change Bug outlook2007 (12.0.6300.5000)SP1 MSO (12.0.6213.1000) I noticed that the emails I sent out had an error in the EMAIL Address (I left the O out of COM when I set up the account. SO hereâ??s what I did to try to correct it. 1. Opened Outlok2007 2. Clicked on the Tools menu. 3. Selected Account Settings. 4. Selected the account that had the error. I had two accounts. 5. Click on the Change button/link. 6. Corrected the Email Address box entry. This is the information used in the Reply To. 7. Clicked on the Next button. 8. Clicked on the Finish button. The information in the Accounts dialog was not updated with the change I just made. After trying 3 times I finally had to delete the account and reenter all the information again.     - Connecting to Exchange without being logged into network as domain At my workplace, our company uses a Windows Server 2003 domain network, and we're going to be migrated to an Exchange 2007 server (we had a POP3/SMTP server for email until now). Local client is Outlook 2003. My problem is that, although I do have a domain user login, I never used it to log into my machine in years. I use a separate local workstation login and connect to server shares and the POP/SMTP server manually (with the domain user login and password). My machine is heavily customized (user-based), those customizations would be destroyed if I have to move to a different user profile on my machine. So I'm looking for a way to keep logging in to my machine as user "B" (not a member of the domain) while connecting to the Exchange server over the LAN as user "A". Is there any way to do that? From searching the net, I couldn't find anything. BTW: There is no IMAP functionality set up for the Exchange server (AFAIK, Exchange could do that), so I cannot use that as a workaround for mail.     - Outlook Start Menu Shortcut opens as Internet Options I'm not sure what happened, but now when I click on the Microsoft Office Outlook (Email) shortcut in the start menu, it opens up Internet Explorer options instead of MS Outlook. I have already disabled/enabled it in and IE the Advanced options of Start menu. I uninstalled and reinstalled Outlook 2007 which didn't help. I have IE 7.0.     - Outlook 2007 deletes + sign before area/country codes Outlook has started deleting the + sign of country codes after a contact is opened for editing and is saved. An additional twist is that the "Automatically add country code to local numbers" option in th "Actions Menu" is greyed out. Office ver 12.0.6300.5000 SP1 MSO 12.0.6213.1000.     - Signature with logo I have a signature that needs to include a logo/graphic. I am wondering why I am having an issue with the logo not displaying. The link (path) to the logo is correct, however in the email a broken image box displays. When I embed the logo instead of linking to it - the quality of the logo is compromised.     - "Operation failed" when trying to save For two days I've been getting an "Operation Failed" message when trying to save mail to my usual place (not in Outlook's personal folders). I have run the Office 2007 diagnostics and no problem was reported. I tried to run "repair" Microsoft Office from the Control Panel, but got the following message: "Error 1310. Error writing to file: C:\config.msi\9766d.rbf Verify that you have access to that directory" I have failed to even find that file or folder on my hard drive. I also do not know if the latter problem has anything to do with my Outlook problem. I have "repaired" Office 2007 in the past with no problem. The most recent software I have installed is Carbonite, the online storage program, and ESET NOD32 antivirus. However, they produced no immediate problem with Outlook.     - BCC field in Sent Items I'm currently using Outlook 2003 (part of an Office package) at work. For a majority of the emails I send, I can no longer view the BCC field in my Sent Items. If it's to a small list of recipients, it usually shows (although not always), but when I send mass emails (which is my job -- I send bulk email communications for my firm), the names no longer show up in the bcc field in the Sent Item. Oddly, if I do a "find" search in my Sent Items folder, I can see that a message went to someone, but when I open the message, it doesn't actually show their display name in the BCC field. This is especially problematic for the "I didn't get that message" complaints. I can't believe this is an "upgrade" from the previous version, but I've never had a problem with this in any other version we used before. Please don't answer "upgrade", as that's not an option when you work at a large firm and don't have control over which software you use. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.     - cc's not being sent to both parties A user receives e-mail for 2 parties, himself with his in-box, and for another user via a distribution group. If both he and the other user are cc'ed, his inbox does not receive the cc, but the distribution group for the other user does. Why does the user with the in-box not receive the cc??? The organizer of a calender appointment sends out a calender appointment...the recepient can view the calendar and any/all comments or attachments included but once the recepient adds their comments etc and forwards the calendar appointment...the recepient of the forwarded calendar appointment can only see the comments etc. in the view pane.     - Resetting Outlook to a first run condition We have upgraded from Microsoft Office 2003 to Office 2007 on all of our networked computers. If a user logs in to their system for the for the first time after the upgrade and trys to start Outlook with out first starting the Word application (as they have been directed to) Outlook will not open correctly and request information such as Exchange server name ect. (which the user does not have). The only way that I have been able to correct this issue is to rename the user's profile, and then have the user log back in and re-create their profile and start with the Word application before trying to open Outlook.     - Importing txt file to Outlook - mapping custom fields fails Outlook 2007/Excel 2007/Access 2007 Hello, I have vacations requested stored in Access 2007. I'd like to export these to an Outlook 2007 calendar. I've tried the following procedures: 1) Export from Access to Excel in Excel 2003 format. 2) Converted Excel 2003 format to text, tab delimited. When I tried to import either of these formats I run into the same problem. When I get to the custom-map-fields dialog of the import wizard, I never get the option to click OK. I have only three fields: Name, Date, and Type of Leave. I drag the fields into the following Outlook fields: Name=Subject Date=All Day Event Type of Leave=Location However only the active buttons are Next, Previous, and Cancel. Hi all, hopefully someone here can tell me if this is possible as I haven't been able to find a way to do this. the story goes, I bought a new computer, loaded my office suite (2003 pro) onto it and proceeded to load the address book files I'd copied (.csv files) into outlook by importing them. Come to find out after importing them the date field isn't included with all the imported/saved e-mails. The column is there but instead of a date it reads "None". I also pulled the hard drive from the old machine & pulgged it into the new machine as a backup & so i could transfer all my other files/folders w/o hassle. since I've pulled it out of the old machine I assume I'd have to make it the primary drive again to get Outlook to access it again & display all the old e-mails which perhaps I could copy over in some other method then the one I used. I cant be the only guy who's had this problem. I don't pretend to be any kind of a computer geek either, I've reached my limit of what to do 8o . I'm hoping this is a result of my screwing it up, not that Outlook isn't capable of doing this.     - Exchange server prompts re-authentication for shared calendar. I have a problem where Useres who are accesing my Exchange server are require to input authentication info when they attempt to view someone esles calendar. I have all the permissions configured as reviewer. This seems to happen only in Outlook 2003 and happens to some people and does not happen to other people. I have yet to figure out what the people who have the problem have in common. If the usere clicks cancel, the shared calendar comes up no problem and they are not prompted for another login for the rest of the Outlook session.     - OL not updating NK2 file on exit - loses AutoComplete email addresses Hi all, I have the latest Outlook 2007 but for a month have noted that it no longer saves changes to the AutoComplete email addresses that are held in the My Profile.nk2 file. I believe this is because OL is not shutting down properly, however I have closed all other tasks/services that could be using it. If I Ctrl+Alt+Del to kill outlook.exe, then it does not save to NK2, yet there is no other way to close OL. At least I think that's the reason NK2 is not updating. I did some experiments and did get Outlook to close by itself, and it DID save NK2 changes that one time, but it has not been able to close by itself since.     - Autocompleted Email Addresses Email addresses automatically complete when typing the 1st letter(s) in the "to", or "cc" fields of an Outlook email message. That's great. But why do the autocomplete entries resemble those from other people's address books instead of mine? For instance, the first time I send an email it is to "Firstname Lastname (email@company.com)", so I can see their full name, in addition to their email address. That works fine until I receive an email from somebody else who cc's that same person but doesn't have as clean of a definition for their name. Once I click "reply-to-all", Outlooks decides to redefine my autocomplete for that contact. So now I have the truncated email@company.com, which might not have any relationship to the person's name. It was suggested to several discussion participants who had questions about
problems emailing large or multiple distribution lists, that distribution
lists were not very reliable and that grouping by contact categories is
better.

My question is: It does not appear very easy to send a message to more than
one grouped category in the same message box. Using the shift key to select
more than one grouped category didn't work. Any suggestions?

Using SHIFT will work. Depending on your version of Outlook you can do a
search or apply a filter to that view as well.
