    - some 'unknown' attachement issues Hi everybody, (@admin: hope I'm on in the right forum :) otherwase feel free to kick me around to the right spot) Lately I'm seem to having a strange problem: people cant open the attachments I send them. First it was just one person, later two.... I didn't know what to do about it, dropt the whole pc at the lokal pc-shop ( they didn't do mych more then a few forgotten updates) and the problem seemed to be gone. Now, a fiew (is that spelled correct?) weeks later...Same problem (in outlook and outlook express)people cant open my attachements or they get the notion that is is "broken". I'm using Win XP SP¨whatever there 're at the moment' and outlook express that comes with the package.     - Exchange doesn't work on Comcast I just upgraded to Outlook 2007, and suddenly I am no longer able to connect to my exchange server that is hosted by 4smartphone through my Comcast internet. However, if I change the same computer over to my AT&T DSL internet it works just fine. What can I go to comcast with to ask them to change on their servers??     - outlook express will not post to newsgroups I've been using outlook express as my newsreader for some time. Just today, when trying to post, I started getting an error message like this: Outlook Express could not post your message Subject 'Re: power supply explanation'. Account 'nntp.aioe.org' Protocol: NNTP. Server Response: '441 Nonexistent group'. Port 119 Secure (SSL): No Server Error: 441, Error Number: 0x800CCCA9 I get a similar error message when trying to post through teranews. I get online only through public wifi hotspots. I don't have a service provider at home or at work, and I use aioe and teranews. I doubt if aioe and teranews have both disappeared simultaneously, although anything's possible.     - Calendar Problem in OL 2007 I have a weird problem in Outlook 2007, that is causing me some concern. When I click on 'Calendar', the calendar appears in day view as I would expect. However, at the bottom of the window, where it says 'Tasks' at the left, I get the message "The operation failed. An object could not be found." displayed in the pane next to this. Today, I received for the first time an email from someone and I got four copies of the same email. What can I do to correct this madness?     - Slow Performing Outlook 2007 and BCM Hi all, I just recently upgraded a number of PCs from OL2003 (connecting to Exchange - not cached mode) to Outlook 2007 w/ Business Contact Manager (oviously cached mode as this is required). The BCM database is on a shared PC using the BCM database tool. I had experimented with one PC taking it off the cached mode and it had made things speedy again, but I can't keep it like that due to the need for BCM. Any clue what is going on here? Is it cached mode or BCM causing the issue? The speed issues range from starting an email reply and having to wait for what you type to catch up, to slow response if you click on another folder in your mailbox.     - Message Stuck in Outbox to Only One Particular Email Address Hi: I have Outlook 2007 and have been using it for about 2 months or so. I have encountered a problem with sending emails. I have sent emails to a particular email address (WinTips-Tricks@yahoogroups.com ) and the emails get stuck in the outbox. The CPU usage is very high (about 76%) and the taskbar icon flashes furiously. If I look in the outbox, the email is also doing a staccato flash. At the bottom of Outlook the send says complete, yet the flashing taskbar icon, and flashing email in the outbox remain. After awhile (about 2-3 minutes) this stops, but the email remains in the outbox. These actions occur only when sending to this one address.     - Rules in error Hello: I have an Outlook 2003 client side rule, which copies email from an Exchange folder to an IMAP folder. Sometimes, for intermittent network failure reasons, the rule is failing. I then receive a dialog bok stating: "Rules in error" The rule is then disabled, which is annoying as this is an intermittent issue. However when the user takes the computer to an external network Outlook 2007 does not work. It just says trying to connect and will never go to a connected status.     - Outlook 2007 sending spam email with my mail It looks like Outlook is sending multiple spam e-mails to people I do not know when I send out an a-mail. I'm guessing this is the case because I am getting 10-20 a-mails a day saying that unknown addressees I do not recognize cannot accept my mail. Already my service provider sent a warning and forced me to change from the "normal" SMTP port to the 587 one. Three questions....     - Mail stuck in outbox, can't delete,won't send, retards send/rec. I recently scanned 6 pages of text to e-mail, I was asked about the format, it was .bmp, a mistake as it then attached the .bmp to the e-mail taking 84 mb of memory. Once I noticed this after beginning send I attempted to abort the send. It stopped the send. Next I tried deleting, couldn't do that as the message appeared "can't open, Outlook has begun sending". Well, it really wasn't as I went to bed and awoke to find it still in my outbox. Tried sending again, same result. Next I tried to delete, no luck, tried dragging to delete folder, no luck. Right click, chose delete, no luck. It will not go away. The worst part is every time I send an e-mail it tries to send this bad one first, therefore retarding all my outgoing messages with a long delay, and because of that the incoming messages are affected too. Our environment: Win XP SP2 + Office 2003 SP2/SP3 Steps for reproducing the problem: -in Outlook 2003, double-clic a message containing an embedded image, right-click the image and select COPY -close the message,create a new message and paste in the body of the message: a place holder with a red cross is pasted instead of the image Problem does not appear if any of these conditions is met: -rollback to IE6 (we won't do this) -upgrade to Office 2007 (we can't do this) -the original window (containing the embedded image) stays open when pasting (few users do that) -the read pane is open (many users dislike the reading pane and deactivate it) -Word is the default email editor (it is not the case in our company) The last three points are workarounds, not solutions.     - Reply - using the correct SMTP add Hello, I have an Exchange installation where several of my users has multible SMTP adressses. eg. jens@firm1.tld and jens@firm2.tld. Both SMTP addresses are attached to the same user on the system. Back in the old days when the users was using POP3 i have 2 POP3 accounts that each had one email adress. Then Outlook by default set the correct sender name (eg. if an email was sent to jens@firm2.tld and he hit the reply button the the sender email add. was jens@firm2.tld). But since the users has been migratet this no longer works. The default SMTP adress is allways the sender add. Is there any way to get it the way it was with pop3?     - Folder views after Exchange migration from 5.5 to Exchange 2003 Hi I added a customised folder view using some modified vb code that i changed to use in vba (see code at end). This created customised view for a specific folder at work. The migrated across to exchange 2003 and now the acutal 'fields' in the view still exist but are blank for any new emails that are forwarded into the folder with the customised view, all the old emails are fine only new ones. I'm looping through a recordset adding email body/attachments etc and then objOutlookMsg.Close (olSave) objOutlookMsg.Move objOutlookDestFolder for each message saves the email to the Outlook Outbox and only one security warning is thrown for the entire session which is fine. However, all the messages in the Outbox are non-italicised, i.e. each one has to be opened up and Send clicked. If I add objOutlookMsg.Send to the loop, I get a separate security dialog box for each email How can I avoid this.     - Recovering pst file Outlook 2k7 Reposting. It seems my post yesterday didn't go through. Attempt 2: We had a power outage today and when my power came back up, Outlook informed me that there were problems with my outlook.pst file. I tried the Inbox Repair Tool with no success. I got an error message stating that an error had occurred and that no changes were made. Scandisk didn't fix anything either. the scanpst.exe program still couldn't fix the file. The pst file by the way is only 1.5 Gb. The program MS offers to truncate pst files that exceed 2GB in size wouldn't work because my file wasn't big enough. I created a new profile and attempted to open the old one using Outlook but Outlook was of the mind that the file wasn't even a .pst file. I tried numerous demo softwares that claimed to be able to recover pst files but the only one that showed any promise at all was the Disk Doctors Outlook Mail Recovery (pst) program. None of the others could even open the file. DDOMR was able to open the file and then save the recovered info to another file from which I could then recover my lost emails/contacts, etc. That is if I pay the $149 cost of the full version of the program. Now, I'm all for software authors/publishers getting their money's worth for their work, but I can't afford $149 to open my one corrupted file. I could see it if I was using this for a PC repair or tech support business but, I'm just trying to get my personal emails. So, I guess what I'm looking for is any other options I might've missed before I bite the bullet, tell my kids no new shoes for school next year, and buy the program. Any input?     - Problem restoring Outlook 2003 PST file I recently lost my pc in a power outage. Luckily, I was able to salvage the hard drive and copied the outlook.pst file to a CD. I am having trouble with Outlook recognizing my Contacts. Here is what I did: I opened up Outlook 2003 for the first time and receive the normal ?welcome? email. I then go to File\Open\Outlook Data File and opened up the outlook.pst file. When I ?click? on Contacts, I do see my address book, however a) if I try to add a new contact, it adds it to another contact list b) if I edit a contact, the custom categories that I created on my old pc, no longer show up in the list of categories, c) when I type a new email and press the ?To? button to look up a contact, no contacts exist in the ?Select Names? window I read some help text and thought that perhaps what I was looking at was a Personal Address Book. I used the Import/Export wizard and tried to import the Personal Address Book (mailbox.PAB) into the folder: Contacts. The process completed quickly and there was no change in the results.     - Red X in White Box Where Picture Should Be Hello, I have Outlook 2007 and Windows XP. Someone sent me an email that is supposed to have a graphic or a picture in it. We have some public folder calendars that we expect our users to use to do things like reserve conference rooms and lcd projectors.     - Images in Outlook 2003 showing as red x Hello everybody. I have a question for you gurus out there. We have some computers at work where either embedded images or images pulled in from another server are showing as a red x with no option to "download content". The only fix we've found is clearing out the OLK folder but the problem comes back after time. Solutions I've tried include: 1) Unchecking "Don't download pictures automatically" in the Security settings. Works on some, but not all. 2) Changing the 'zone' for emails from Restricted to Internet. Again, fixes some but not all. 3) Detect & Repair in Outlook. 4) Making sure "Show Images" is checked in IE (Outlook pulls emails via IE) 5) Clearing the "Securetempfolder" registry key and/or clearing out the Outlook Temporary folder's contents (under Temporary Internet Files). This fixes the issue, but only temporary. It does come back. 6) Reverting to IE6. Doesn't work. 7) Upgrading to Office 2007. Seems to work, but not an option as of yet. I work for a University and it is affecting the President's office and they want a "permanent" fix, rather than the temporary one we tried before with deleting the folder. Any ideas? A few weeks ago, Outlook was working fine ... notification messages from PHPBB included a clickable URL. Clicking the URL (blue & underscored) would open a PHPBB webpage containing the PHPBB message itself. Then after removing expired Anti-Virus program and installing AVG Free Anti-Virus ... the notification messages from PHPBB are no longer active, but still present and it still works on other PCs with the same Software installed. If the URL string is copied & pasted into an IE7 address bar the correct webpage opens ... if the email is forwarded to another Outlook account that account will see a clickable link that does work correctly. If you go to the name in your "contacts" list you will have the option of
displaying both name and e-mail or just e-mail. This is how I have
configured many of my contacts.
