    - Outlook 2003 configured for HTML messages, but only displays as plain Recently, our company has switched to the OnlyMyEmail spam filtering service, and about that time, received emails stopped being displayed in HTML and are now displayed only in plain text. The "Read all standard mail in plain text" option IS unchecked, so that can't be the problem. Also, emails sent locally (from one of our email accounts to another) are unaffected. Finally, the support page for Outlook 2003 lists this as a possible cause: "On the way to the recipient, the message might have been routed through an e-mail server that doesn't support formatted messages." All of the above leads me to believe that the problem is on OnlyMyEmail's end, but we've sent them an email and they've denied that they're the cause of it. (Of course the upgrade would be to Office 2007, but for this discussion we can just discuss the changes to Outlook, not other Office programs.) Is 2007 less buggy, more stable?     - enabling address books Outlook 2007 Trying to get my contacts to show up in the Address Book (when I press CTRL-N and select 'Address Book'). Here is what I have. 3 folders (uncertain of the lingo) - Personal Folders, Husband's, Wife's. When I go to Properties for each folder's Contacts folder and select the 'Outlook Address Book' tab, the 'Show this folder as an email address book' checked but grayed out in all three folders. (On one occasion I did find the checkbox for my wife's contacts ungrayed out (is that a phrase?) but don't know why. Even on the occasion when my wife's address book should have been active, the address book was empty and is still empty. How do I 'ungray' the 'Show this folder as an email address book' checkbox?     - OLMAP32.DLL Error after upgrade from Office 2003 to Office 2007 on Two days ago I upgraded from Office 2003 to Office 2007 Enterprise on a laptop running XP/SP3. Everything I've tried in the office suite seems to work well except Outlook. Even after applying Office SP1, whenever I try to start Outlook I get a tiny error box that simply says error, OLMAPI32.DLL. I have spent more time than I would like to admit Googling the problem but have found no solution that works for me although I've tried various solutions that appear in multiple discussions of the problem=97up to and including experimenting with removing all registry references to OLMAPI32.DLL. Nothing has helped! I definitely need Outlook on my laptop. Does anyone have a solution to this problem which, as far as I can see, Microsoft has not documented (perhaps I'd missed something?).     - template problem Hi, I've seen a problem whereby whenever a user creates a new email message, or replies to an existing one, all of their text is underlined. I identified this as being due to the normal.dot template. I edited normal.dot so that underline isn't selected and saved. This fixed the problem with replying to emails, however they still have the problem when composing new emails?!?!? FYI when opening a new word document, underline is off. Anyone know how to fix this?     - Outlook rewrites subject line to "SPAM: [original subject]" I'm working with a customer of mine who I believe has some form o malware on his machine that is rewriting the subject line for all o his outbound emails. Here are the symptoms. 1. The office has quite a few users and they all use the same SMT server. Only one user is has this problem. 2. When the problem user composes an email with a certain subject, th recipient receives the email, but the subject is always preceded wit SPAM: 3. Here is the situation: On a Vista PC there are two different users which need to use the same contacts. The tricky thing is that each user has a different identity in outlook i.e. user 1 = personal, user 2 = work. User 2 wants to have the same contacts as user 1.     - Sending a link chops URL's with Outlook 2007!?# Whenever I "send link" from a browser, using Outlook 2007, it not only uses plain text formatting, but also chops long URL's with a newline. I want my emails sent with HTML formatting. And if I reply to a plain text email containing a long URL, this gets chopped too! I find this most annoying, as do the message recipients.     - Lost Message Text!!! Using Outlook 2003 (all of Office 2003), all the latest updates, in Win XPSP3. I wrote a long important e-mail this morning, addressed to several people. I clicked Send, then Send and Receive, and assumed my message was sent. I received an e-mail from one of the addressees, indicating that the received e-mail was blank, no message. I went to my Sent Items folder, with the intention of forwarding that sent message to this one addressee. The message title appeared in Sent Items folder, along with the addressees. But the message was blank--nothing at all in message window-although I had written a long message. I cannot find that text I had written anywhere! What could have happened? Where could I possibly find that missing text, so I do not have to write the message again? When I inquired (on 06/26/08) whether I could re-install OL '07 over the current installation or did I need to uninstall the enitre office suite and reinstall?     - Outlook 2003/2007 won't save password I was using Outlook 2003, but started having a problem with my email password being saved. I went to the Microsoft website for help and tried all the resolutions of KB290684. Tried to create new profiles, run in safe mode, and delete registry key. No luck on any. I upgraded to Office 2007, in hopes that this would solve my problem, but I have the same issue. So now, I have Outlook 2007 and it will not save my password.     - searching a calendar Hi All, I have a weird problem with one users calendar. When she searches it for a meeting that is in the calendar it only brings back entries for 2007. If you do and advanced find it brings back all the meetings past, present and future. This is only happening to one user that I know of and she is using outlook 2003.     - deleting emails as a delegate Hi All, I have an issue with some outlook 2003 clients. We have some senior people who have PAs who can't delete certain mails from their mailfiles. I have checked the delegate permissions and they are all set at editor. I have checked their AD permissions to the mailfiles and increased them up to full access. I can delete the emails but I'm a full exchange administrator. If I create a profile on the PAs machine and they go into outlook as their manager they can delete the mail.     - Deleting Address Book Outlook 2007 Just installed Outlook 2007 & have imported my emails & address book from Thunderbird. All was going well until I realized that Thunderbird had created numerous duplicate contacts. A couple thousand to be exact So I attempted to delete the address book in Outlook, but I think that feature only allows you to delete additional address books, not the main one.     - IMAP messages mysteriously disappear when marking one as read in Hi there I am using Outlook 2007 with imap email (one account) on a windows xp machine. I have a really strange problem which happens intermittently and which goes like this: I have an 'Unread' folder for my IMAP inbox. If I select an unread message, right-click and select 'Mark as Read' most of the unread messages disappear from the folder, or sometimes almost all of them - last time the only message left in the folder was the unread one. Then, if I return to my regular Inbox many of the messages have disappeared, especially the most recent ones. I cannot get them back other than by crashing out of Outlook (which generally hangs if I select the Inbox too many times) and starting it up again. Sometimes when it starts up again the inbox is still half empty, but it will actually fill up before my very eyes. It must be something to do with synchronising the folders on the IMAP server going wrong because of course the emails are still there on the server, just not there in Outlook.     - Outlook 2003: New emails not showing up in Inbox I am pulling my hair out, here. I a total Outlook greenie, but need to set up a client with it. I've set up email, I successfully received an email and successfully sent out an email. Then I did something, and now new emails are not showing up anywhere. I can receive the emails, and I get the Outlook "ding" and "new mail" icon in the corner. I can check and confirm via webmail that the email address did indeed receive the emails. I can still send emails. But I cannot see any new email that has come in. I have reset all filters, made everything go back to default, to the best of my knowledge. Anyone have any ideas?     - Pixelated Image Problem. How do I fix this? I am creating a newsletter and I have a header image. I made the newsletter in Word in a table and then just copied it over to Outlook to send.     - Unistall Outlook 2007 I am a long time Outlook user and have been using Outlook 2007 with BCM for several months. I purchased Office Pro 2007. All of a sudden when I log on to Outlook it freezes. Other programs do not. I'm using Vista Business 4 gigs of Ram etc. I don't understand how to uninstall Outlook without uninstalling all Office Pro Locations. I ran the repair took from the Office installation disk same problem. I tried finding my pst file to use Scanpst.exe but Visat search is worthless. In fact I believe the problem might have been cause when I was trying to rebuild the search index and change the archive settings for RSS search folders I had in Outlook, something snapped.     - latency with scheduling appointments I have an issue here with Outlook 2007/Exchange 2003. Whenever an appointment is scheduled with another user, it takes about 15 minutes before that user ever sees an appointment on their calender. Also, the appointment does not make the user show as "busy" on a busy search until the user accepts the appointment. I may not be explaining all of this perfectly, but I just wanted to find out if there is a setting to change or if this is a typical problem spot for Outlook/Exchange. We are running Outlook through a remote Citrix connection and all work is done through this Citrix connection. We run Server 2003 as well.     - File Not Found Error Hi, Hopefully someone can help me. I have a client who has encountered a strange error in Outlook 2007. When he decided to remove his msn mail accounts from outlook I believe he deleted the .pst files but not the accounts in Outlook which I think has caused the error, because the accounts are still listed in Outlook and every time Outlook starts it creates a file not found error for each file apart from the one active e-mail account. When trying to remove the accounts from inside outlook it creates the same error, and an attempt to dupe the program with a fake .pst file has no effect. So far I have not found any registry entries which point to these files so am unsure how to continue other than backing up his one active .pst file un-installing Outlook and re-installing, but I am suspicious as to whether or not the one .pst will contain so sort of eference to the error files.     - Inbox subfolders didn't get backed up in .pst export I just spent the day doing a clean install of the OS on my dad's computer. Despite my careful efforts to back up his Outlook 2003 emails, using two different methods to be in the safe side, all of them vanished, right along with his faith in humanity, and my reputation as a decent son. "Um ... Dad ... how many emails did you have? Like, 50? 100?" "Several thousand. At least." "*!@$*!" Before wiping things clean, I backed up his emails two ways. He had about 10 emails in his Inbox (those were restored) and, according to him, several thousand emails perfectly organized in a long series of Inbox subfolders. Ah yes ... all those subfolders, containing all the wonderful memories he has preserved since becoming a member of the digital community 7 years ago ... all gone. Or are they? I had backed up his emails two different ways: 1. Using The Files and Settings Transfer Wizard (which worked when it came time to restore all his personal settings and My Documents files). The wizard created three files: - IMG00001.DAT (2,097,129 KB) - IMG00002.DAT (88,714 KB) - status (1 KB) Shouldn't his Outlook emails be in one of these? 2. Exporting a backup of his .pst file to my thumb drive via Outlook's Export option. When I got to the step to "Click the folder that contains the messages you want to back up," I chose the Inbox folder and *** distinctly remember checking the box next to *** "If the folder contains a subfolder that you want to include, select the "Include Subfolders" check box, and then click Next." But after everything was partitioned, wiped cleaned, and reinstalled, when I ran The Files and Settings Transfer Wizard, his My Doc files and personal settings were restored but not his emails. "Ah! Good thing I backed up his .pst file another way. I'll use that!" But when I imported the backup .pst file I created (in Outlook, File > Import & Export ...) the only thing that came back was the 10 measly emails in his main Inbox. There is no sign of his many subfolders and all those millions of emails. Could they be locked somewhere in the .DAT files created with the Files and Settings Transfer Wizard? Any other way to recover his emails? Should I go shopping for a new dad? Because I'm pretty sure my current one has forsaken me. And rightly so. Help?     - Outlook or Windows Mobile 6 problem??? I recently got a Samsung Blackjack II Windows Mobile device, which I like way more than the Palm Treo 650 it replaced. There is one problem, however, which I describe below. I'm posting this message in this group because Samsung Level III support claims the problem is caused by outlook data corruption, not a bug in WM 6. I also posted a description of this problem in two Microsoft.pocketpc usenet groups and no one replied. Here is my problem description, which describes behavior on the WM 6 device: 1. If I am entering data into any application, or trying to send a text message, about once a minute the reminder list will pop up and ALL the reminders scroll through. There seems to no way to set a time interval for this popup. For me, reminders include appointments, tasks, and follow-up flags set on things like email messages. 2. The second problem is that when the reminders pop up, they ALL pop up, not just the ones that became active. On my Outlook 2003 system, these reminders work just as you would expect them to. But on my Samsung BJ II, I see reminders pop up for FUTURE times, or recurring reminders that I have "completed" and are set to recur at a future date/time. This is very annoying. The only thing that Samsung Level 3 support could tell me was to run SCANPST. I do that on a daily basis, because Outlook, or one of my add-ins, has this nasty habit of corrupting the PST data file. Also, Samsung support kept saying that they were not responsible for "my data." What do I do? This two-part problem just totally ruins the pleasure of using this device. Sounds like an Exchange issue. Does the user see her external emails
if she logs into OWA on your Exchange?

If she still isn't seeing external emails via OWA, then you have an
Exchange issue and need to post this in an Exchange group.
