    - Sending distribution list externally loses formatting Hello, I have a user who has a problem with sending Distribution Lists as an attachment. He uses Outlook 2003 and was trying to send one of his Distribution Lists as an attachment. He would open the DL, and then click on Action -> Forward to send the DL as an attachment. Internal recipients receive the attachment fine, and can add the DL to their Contacts. External recipients receive it as a .msg attachment so it looks like an attached e-mail message with nothing inside. DLs are sent in .msg format when sent as an attachment, but the formatting is lost somewhere so that it becomes unusable for external recipients. This is on an Exchange 2007 server. My company also runs an Exchange 2007 server and I can recreate the same issue with Outlook 2007 within my own organization (internal works, external does not), so it is not a user specific issue. I have tried "dragging and dropping," I have tried "inserting item," I have tried RTF, but no matter what the DL is always received as a blank .msg attachment to external recipients. The user said this used to work, which may have been when they were on Exchange 2003. Can anybody confirm this is working for their Exchange 2007 setup? Tag: organizing with colors Tag: 603058

    - read receipt button is greyed out I would like to be able to toggle on and off the "read receipts" for more and less important outgoing messages. Clicking five menus deep to get to check mark for the global setting is a PITA. There is a "Read" button on my version of outlook '97 (came with an office '97 package,) but it is greyed out.     - Where Does Outlook Store Info? Computer Problems Recently the power supply, motherboard, & CPU on my computer died. So I had a new motherboard, power supply, CPU and hard drive installed. The new hard drive is larger and faster than the old one. This required that Windows XP, Microsoft Office, etc, had to be installed. But before any of that was done, the technician took everything off the old hard drive and saved it into a file on the new one. All of the old data files, etc, are supposed to be there. My question, though, is how to find the address book and the saved emails that were on the old computer & put them into Outlook on the new computer? I know very little about computers, except how to turn it on and off, and how to check emails, surf the web, and how to use Word.     - Automatically download attached images for emails When I receive an email that has embedded graphics, say, a note from an Ebayer advising you of an item, the graphics aren't downloaded. I have to right click and manually download them. I understand that this is for security so you don't download viruses, trojans, etc.. However the email account that I use doesn't receive spam so this isn't an issue. I tried to find the option to allow the images to automatically be displayed but I can't seem to find it.     - OL2K3 - Previewed and Replied-to mail still shown as unread This one completely baffles me... Outlook 2003, POP only accounts. Normal operation: Mail is previewed and replied to. Randomly, it will stop marking the mail in the list as read or replied to. I didn't believe him at first, but I checked his sent mail and sure enough, all of them were replied to, but they shown as unread and not- replied-to on the normal list view. By the time I showed up, I it works fine, the flag goes to read-status as I preview through the emails. I've applied every update to Outlook there is to update. I have rebuilt his PST file from scratch, I have rebuilt his profile from scratch, and none of it seems to help. He is using the Qurb plug-in, but he had updated to the CA Anti-Spam a while back which caused another problem where mail would get stuck in his outbox.     - Holidays span two days The holidays on the outlook calendar span two days when they are really one day. They start at 1 AM and run to 1AM the next day. THIS IS PATENTLY WRONG. Is there a solution that dose not involve an individual change of all 168 holidays. I will delete hen all before I would do that. Outlook is basically a piece of mierda in many of its parts.     - Outlook 2007 - Update KB946983 - Calendar attachment with links Hi All, I have a problem since applying MS Update KB946983 to my XP system with Outlook 2007 on it. I have a program that sends email out from a server with a Calendar Attachment (.ics) attached to it. Before the MS update, when the user would open the calendar attachment in Outlook they would be presented with the standard 3 button (Acept/Decline and Tentative). Now that I have applied the update, those button do not show and the user can not Accept, etc.. the meeting request. I have determined that this is due to the fact that the "Description" tag in the attachment which contains text about the meeting (and shows up in the body of the meeting when opened) has some text in it with a URL (ie: http://www/someserver.com) and that is causing the problem since applying the MS update. I cannot take out the URL from the description (nor do I want to since I want the user to be able to click on the URL link in the body of the calendar meeting) and this still works when opened in Outlook 2002/2003.     - KB946983 and Vista 64 Outlook 2007 This update was installed within days of appearing on the list of updates (11th March 2008 on my PC. The next time I used Outlook, the reading pane failed to show any message other than the first opened. If another program window overlaid the reading pane, then it didn't refresh after the other program window was moved away. Messages did, however, open in separate windows when double clicked. I rolled back the updates and have finally had time to redo them one by one and identify KB946983 as the offending update. Google shows me one other post on the subject and a reply to that by someone with a similar problem.     - did backup, reformatted lost all e-mail Hello I did a backup through the windows backup utility. I saw all my outlook folders pass by. the backup file is 5.63 gigs. I have my hard drive partitioned. I reformatted my hard drive C I left my data drive D alone. When I set up windows I gave my account a different name. Family instead of valued customer (the old name.) I installed outlook on D this time instead of C. I did the restore for the back up to put my settings on D hoping the outlook program would take it. When I clicked on outlook.exe it acted like a new program. I uninstalled outlook from D and installed in on C. I did the restore to C and a folder valued customer showed up. When I clicked on outlook.exe it acted like a new program. I looked in the valued customer folder/ application data and see 8 outlook.pst files.     - Where Did the Sapm Go Prior to downloading Vista SP1 and the prior updates, I was getting 50-100 junk mail items a day. Since the download I've been getting one or two. Not that I mind losing the spam but there was occassionally a legitimate item tossed into the junk file. Now I'm only getitng a few a day showing up in the junk file.     - Subject: Outlook 2007 - So slow I think I might lose my job !! I am about to give up. I do not know what to do. I have a 100 user exchange 2003 server. CPU idle most of the day, gigs of memory free, been running for years. Updated to Outlook 2007 through most of the company, and things seemed fine at first. However, the rage of my users has been growing. I really *really* dont want to go back to 2003, but our users have large mailboxes, rougthly 5 GB+. We have some that are over 10 GBs. Outlook 2003 had NO problems with this, it worked fine. Outlook 2007 is a disaster, terribly slow, just clicking between emails results in 10 second waits, typing randomly delayed and switching folders you can go get a cup of coffee and come back in time for your mail. I have been trying to figure out what could be the problem, it certainly doesnt seem server related, it runs in Cached mode. Flipping through email should not result in any network traffic (especially read email). There is just lag, constant lag for half of my users. I only have 2.7 GBs of mail, and I have no issues. After 5 GB though, problems crop up, over 7 GB its terrible, around 10, just use web mail at this point. The machines these are on are either Vista (SP1) or XP. The machines are Dell Optiplex systems, 2 GB Ram, fast drives, most less than 1 year old. Office is SP1 Would upgrading to Exchange 2007 help? I do not think so as the server is idle most of the day.     - Inbox problems with OL2007 I copied the main .pst file from a OL2003 installation into a PC with OL2007 (where the data files were on a secondary drive that had crashed and needed to be replaced).     - Security Settings IE 6.0 and Outlook 2003 Which security settings on my computer do I lower or change in order NOT to constantly get all those irritating IE pop up windows every time I click a link, open a picture, download something etc. I get that "You are leaving a secure connection" one. I also get various other ones such as "do you want to open this file from an unknown source?" and various others having to do with my security settings being set too tight, I guess.     - Can't move emails to parent folder I have a number of Outlook folders where I move messages to keep organized. One of them is for client messages. It has several subfolders. The structure looks like this: Inbox Junk email Messages, Business Associations Clients Smith (contains 6 emails) Jones Colleagues Messages, Friends Messages, Family Outbox Sent Items I was recently working on the Smith case. I moved 6 emails from the inbox to the Smith folder (under Clients). I do this when I am working on a case. When I am done, I move them to the Clients folder and delete the case folder. For some reason, Outlook will not let me move these 6 emails from \Smith to the parent folder (\Clients). If I select them and drag then, I get the little cursor icon that looks like they are bneing moved, but they don't move. If I try to right click and select Move to Folder, the Clients folder is alfready selected and nothing happens. It as if Outlook thinks they arfe already in \Clients. What have I done wrong? can I use colors to identify a message by the SUBJECT?
It seems in the ORGANIZE option, I can only use colors when it is either
from someone or to someone.

Click Tools>Organize>Using Colors>Automatic Formatting>Add. Give the rule a
name, then click Condition. Include what you want in the "Search for the
word(s)" field. Click OK. Click Font. Choose the font and color you want
to be displayed. Click OK, then OK.
