Multiple Progiles in Outlook 2K3 problem
Hi All,
I'm having a problem lately with multiple profiles. Using Outlook 2K3
running against Exchange 2K3, I've got about a dozen or so mailboxes to
which I need access, each of which has a profile set up on my machine.
Outlook is set up to prompt me to select a profile when I launch the app,
however, recently it stopped prompting me each time I launch Outlook. The
only time it prompts me now is after a log off or reboot. When attempting
to switch to a different profile in the past, I made sure that the Outlook
process has completely gone away in TaskManager and that MAPI32 (?) is gone,
as well. Lately I've noticed that the MAPI process is not running at all.
I'm thinking that there might be an issue with the registry but before I do
a repair or start digging around in regedit I wanted to see if anyone has
any ideas. Any feedback is appreciated.

Outlook 2003 Free/Busy Problem...
Hi,
I've created a previous topic in regards to this issue and Kathleen Orland
was kind enough to offer the /cleanfreebusy switch, which temporary resolves
the problem. Now this problem appears to be spreading to all users in our
domain, primary, users with laptops. I was told that a previously Microsoft
patch is to blame, but I have not heard or read anything else about this.
Is anyone else experiencing this problem or chime in as to what is
happening?

Send/receive complete every minute
I am using Outlook 2003 on Windows XP SP2.
When it is opened, I am seeing "send/receive complete" pop up on the status
bar every 60 seconds or so. It disappears after a few seconds. Clicking on
it has no effect (no dialog box pops up). It seems to be independent of the
regular send/receive mail cycle. Deactivating auto send/receive has no
effect. I tried turning off auto send/receive (both on accounts
individually and as a group), changing the interval, etc. I have already
used Detect and Repair. All useless. I have 4 POP accounts plus hotmail.
Does anyone know why this is happening?

Rule to distribute sent mail
I have 3 mail accounts and I want one (or more) rules like this:
Apply the rule after I send the message
Through the _specified_ account
Move it to the _specified_ folder
and mark it as read
The problem is that the only option I see, in the Rules wizard, is "move a
copy".
Furthermore, when I use that option, just to test the rule, the message that
was copied to the _specified_ folder looks unread. That's why in my rule I
want to add the option "and mark it as read".

Then I installed Office Home and Student, and upgraded to Office Standard.
During the startup of Outlook I'd got a validation request, which I went

I got a message on screen telling me that my MS Office was activated.
Then I went to download MS Outlook Connector, and my Office failed in the
validation test.
The error message read:

But... I upgraded to Office Standard....?!?
What can be wrong?

Outlook 2003 insert file dialog will not display as list
Hi
I have a strange problem with some users on Outlook 2003 (SP3) on
Windows XP (SP2). When clicking the paper clip icon to insert a file,
the resulting dialog box will not allow you to display the files as

that the files should be displayed in list form.

* When I try to "preview" the file, I get a page with a message saying "This

I can, however, view, preview and save the same files on Windows XP / Office

"Send To>Mail Recipent"
Outlook 2007 SP1, Win XP Pro SP2
After right clicking a file in Explorer, selecting Send To>Mail Recipient a
new email is created as expected with the selected item already attached.
After addressing the email and clicking "Send" however the email remains
static on the screen with a misleading message reading "This message has
not been sent" displayed above the large Send button. I say misleading
because it turns out this email does actually get sent. In this state, the
Send button remains highlighted and most other icons & menu options are
greyed out. Because this message window is modal to the main Outlook Window
you are unable access any other Outlook functionality until this message
window is removed.
Resetting the outcmd.dat does not fix the problem, as was a suggested fix
by someone.
If Outlook is not running at all when "Send To>Mail Recipient" is used,
then the email message is removed from the screen after sending, as you
would expect. But if Outlook is running at the time, even minimised to the
system tray, then the email message will instead remain stuck on the screen
with the misleading message. Luckily as a workaround, the close gadget does
still work on the message and will remove it from the screen. Nevertheless
is it still annoying that you should need to do this.
As far as I can tell all the MAPI settings on my computer are established
correctly. The only weird thing I've noticed is that I have 2 identical
"URL: MailTo Protocol" entries listed on the File Types tab of Folder
Options. Is this normal? The Delete button is ghosted so you are unable to
delete one of the entries.
Is anybody able to shed any light on this matter, as no amount of googling
has assisted me with a solution.

Perhaps html encoding
Hi,
I've got signatures set up on everyone's email in the office, nice
HTML graphicy signatures.
When people using Outlook send to Outlook Express users, all the
images and formatting is lost.
OE recognises it as an HTML email, but looses most of the formatting.
Additionally, If I forward a message with an attachement from Outlook
to an OE user, the attachment seems lost. It's clear by the message
size that the "data" is still there, but it's not showed as an
attachment. If the message is forwarded as plain text however the
attachment is A-OK.
Are there any tweaks on either the Outlook or OE side that would
correct this?

Hi !
I've a problem: one of our customer bring us his own computer with a non

This computer have a windows xp SP2 with office 2003.
The only one thing we can't recover was the mail pop3 password:
the customer can't remember it and we are totally unable to recover ! :(
This customer told us that is impossible contact the mail provider and reset the
mail password, maybe it's something statal or the mail is overseas.
We know this customer from years, and trust him absolutely, we also have
performed data recovery on his computer and all the data belong to him.
I've tried with another computer and seem that the outlook password is recorded
there:
C:\Documents and Settings\tbaroni\Dati
applicazioni\Microsoft\Protect\S-1-5-21-1614895754-688789844-854245398-1003
the file have a casual name like: 010b9592-8a54-49df-b43a-028ccdfc4fb9
How do can I recover the password from this file ?
I know a little utility from Nir Sofer site, mailpv.exe that can recover the
outlook password in one second from a working windows system, there are some
that can recover the password from dead ones ?
can us copy the user profile from one non working installation and copy in a
