    - Outlook Connector on free Hotmail account I use outloook 2007 on vista ultimate sp1. I would like to be able to use outlook to send and receive all of my hotmail emails. I tried the outlook connector but it never actually connects to my account. if I click the connector toolbar it shows mail, calendar, and contacts all with the same status of "Connecting" although it never actually does. I know that the calendar function is only available to subscribers. I called ms support and the guy told me I would have to have a paid account to use the connector. To my understanding, the connector is supposed to allow free accounts to download and send messages using outlook. And if I had a paid account I would just use the POP3 support to get my messages and not some plugin. On the other hand, I would just use windows live mail (which is what I am doing as a workaround right now) but I really like having all of my organizational stuff in one program thus I think that outlook rocks. what I don't get is why outlook uses DAV instead of DeltaSync? Outlook is a program you buy and it is using an older protocol than a free program. it just doesn't make sense to me. [now coming off of soap box] is there something I am missing on getting my hotmail into outlook? when ever I create an account (using the connector) it shows a new tree for my hotmail account but all of the folders are empty and the status as I mentioned earlier never changes.     - How to change how email messages are displayed in the preview window? I have 2 PCs running WinXP Pro and Office 2007 Pro. On both, the Inbox shows a list of the email messages in one window and a preview (is that the right term?) of the selected message in another. On one machine, the preview window shows the names and email addresses of the To: and cc: list. On the other, it only shows the names, not the email addresses.     - Microsoft Office outlook connector fails to load Hi, I recently had to refresh my PC but was able to backup and restore my profile data (including emails etc.) using our a backup/restore utility (that comes bundled on our corporate PCs based on windows XP professional). I am using Outlook 2007 and when I launched outlook I would get error msgs regarding some missing third party Add-ins that I hadn't installed yet. The most important/useful add-in for me was the MS Office Outlook connector to allow me to connect to my Hotmail account. So I started by installing the connector but restarting Outlook did not bring up the Outlook Connector menu Item. when I go to the Trust Center -> Addin manager and select the Com Addin for Microsoft Office Connector the status text says 'An error occurred trying to load the add-in" or something to this effect. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the add-in to no avail. Can anyone suggest how i can get more information on what 'error occurred' while trying to load the add-in?     - Trouble with OST Office 2007 Exchange 2003 SP2. Have several clients that are having issues getting the OST to sync correctly. The are NOT running in cached mode and no additional add-ons are enabled. Did a fresh install and created a new OST file and still having the same issue. It seems to me that when I add a filter to a task view for something like category "does not contain" xyz, and then add right below that, category "does not contain" abc, it should show all of my tasks, but just not anyone that has xyz OR abc in the category.     - Hyperlink Title in Outlook email body When creating a hyperlink associated with an image in an html editor (e.g. FrontPage) , you can specify a ToolTip (title in HTML) as well as the URL. So viewing the htm file with say Internet Explorer you see the title as the ToolTip when you hover over the hyperlink (e.g. "Go to our Website"). Using the same HTML code in an Outlook email body you see the actual URL as the ToolTip (e.g. "http://www.ourwebsite.com") and the 'title' HTML seems to be ignored.     - Syncing outlook with my phone I purchased outlook 2007 yesterday to sync with my phone. I have all of the software installed and I completed a synchronization in hopes of transferring all of my contacts and schedule that was on my phone over to my computer. However, when I synchronized, all of my contacts and calendar that I had saved on my phone was erased. Luckily, I still have my old phone to retrieve my contacts. But, this leads me to wonder if it synced right or do I misunderstand how synchronization works? I've always thought that syncing exchanged information from both devices, not just transfer information from one to the other. Am I misunderstanding how it works or did it sync incorrectly? This is how I create a view: Customize View, Filter, Advanced, Field = From, Condition = contains, Value = microsoft.com The View filter seems to only look at the persons name and not the actual email address.     - Thinking of Outlook Express to MS Outlook Dear All, I am currently using Outlook Express but am having some difficulties. So I am thinking about exporting everything into MS Outlook and using MS Outlook from now on but first I would like to know whether it would be worth doing this. I require an email client that can store several thousand messages in my inbox and sent items. My current problem with Outlook Express is that everytime I shut down the program I get a message telling me to compact my emails. I have no problem doing this and although I follow all instructions and guidelines (e.g. by never interrupting the process) I still frequently lose hundreds of emails. I now click "cancel" everytime this message comes up and there seems no way to disable it. Essentially, I want to know if I would have this problem with MS Outlook?     - Outlook rules puzzle for clever people....help please! I have a puzzle which I would like someone to help solve if at all possible! If I may explain..... I have two business email accounts on two separate networks which cannot be connected together. On both networks the client software is Outlook 2003. With Network A, I can only access emails while physically in the office. With Network B, I can access emails from any physical location via webmail. I would rather manage all of my email in one place which is accessible from anywhere. It is trivially easy to do this on Hetwork A, by configuring an Outlook rule on Network B to redirect or forward all messages to Network A. However I then can't access mail from anywhere other than my physical Network A office location. Instead I would like to be able to configure a rule in Outlook on Network A, to automatically send all emails as and when received to Network B. I want to set it up so that emails are forwarded (either as an attachment or inline, it doesn't really matter which) rather than redirect them as I know from experience that a redirect rule will change the 'To' field in the message subject header from the original email address the sender used, to the redirected address. I don't want this to happen, because it is important that the 'To' field is left intact for valid business reasons. So what I want to be able to do is something like reply using a specific template', but can't do this by setting up a reply template pre-populated address, because it woud then not include the original message (either as an attachment or inline). So instead I want to configure Outlook on Network A to forward messages to Network B. This would normally be quite simple were it not for the fact that unfortunately Network A requires us to use a specific release phrase as the first words in the subject line of all messages sent externally over the internet. Messages which don't contain this phrase are not released and bounce back and this can't be turned off. So I want to be able to set up a template so that I can configure a rule in Outlook on the client side which the server then uses to forward all emails received on Network A to my email address on Network B with the release phrase in the subject header, and which also includes all of the original message and attachments, either as an attachment itself or inline. Unfortunately I can't seem to find an appropriate option in the rules configuration area of Outlook which would allow me to do what I want here.     - Printing Private Appointments I enter in events or appointments with no heading but text in the Notes section. It's mainly as a diary. But when I print out a calendar to hang on the fridge the event, if it is an appointment marked "private" and if I click on "don't print details for private appointments" in the print dialog window, the appointment is listed with a heading of "Private Appointment". Why the hell does it do this? If it's a private appt and I don't want its details printed, what does Outlook do? It not only prints the event but it also has a blaring title "private appointment". If I don't check the "don't print details, etc.." option then the event is still printed but it has no title. What I want it to do is to print the calendar without any sign of an appointment, private or otherwise being shown for that particular entry. It's not that I have anything to hide. Rather I think that all it does is to clutter up the calendar with mostly useless info. Oh, I have tried this at work which also uses Outlook 2003 and it does the exact same thing.     - Dilemma With Cache Mode and Junk Mail Filter I am using Outlook 2007. I am attached to our mail server running Microsoft Exchange 2007. A little while back I had to add many contacts to our server, but when I looked at my global address list in Outlook 2007, some of them were not showing. I posted a question about this in newsgroups, and was told that if I turn off Cache Mode, i would probably be able to see all of them. Sure enough, when i turned it off, I was able to see all of the contacts and users in my global address list. I noticed that I have been getting a lot more junk e-mails, and my junk e-mail folder is empty. So I was going to start adding names to the blocked senders list, and I received the message "The Junk E-mail Filter is not available for your Microsoft Exchange e-mail account because you are working online. To enable the Junk e-mail Filter for this account, switch to Cached Exchange Mode." So it's like there's a negative for either way I go, either I leave Cache Mode off, see all the names, but get a bunch of junk mail, or I have Cache Mode on, not see all the names, and junk mail gets put in the junk mail folder.     - Send/receive has slowed to crawl Running XP, SP3 and 2003 Outlook. I think this problem started after a recent PCTools update. I disabled the email virus scanning in PCTools and still have the problem. If I have very much mail to receive the connection to my provider times out and kills the download. It will take around 10 minutes to get 500kb, before this problem 500kb would load in 15-20 seconds. Any ideas where to start with this problem. Also when I perform the "Test Email Settings" function in the email accounts setup screen, the "send test email fails"( but the test email is sent), however the other 4 test complete successfully. Someone said to check "don't print private events" in the print screen which I did. Anyway, the calendar that gets printed, in the day that there is a private event it says "Private Event".
