Like you can have a rule, that when an item arrives, it goes into a
particular folder, can you also have such a rule for SENT items. Like,
whenever i send an item to a certain Email address, that it would go into a
different folder from the SENT ITEMS folder? If so, can you tell me how to
do it, as i do not see an obvious way within the Rules Wizard.

Thanks,
tom

No one can tell since you decided your Outlook version is not in play - =

My version is 2007, if that is the question you meant.
So, anybody know if i can have a rule about a Sent Item, to make it not go
into the SENT folder.
Thanks,
tom

Tools->Rules and Alerts->New Rule->Start from a Blank Rule->Check =

Yes, THANK YOU.

BUT.... (isn't there always a 'but'...?)

The only thing i see there is "move a copy to a folder..." and not just
move the message itself (not a copy of it). So, as i see it, there is still
a copy in the 'Sent Items' folder.

Just reposting to ask if there is any way around that. Would like it to
work same way as incoming mail, where you can actually move the incoming
message to a folder, and not have a copy always end up in 'Inbox'.

Thanks,
tom

If you disable the option in Outlook to save copies in Sent Items, then the
copy will become a move. If you want certain messages to move to specific
folders and the remainder to move to Sent Items, then you'll need a
catch-all rule at the bottom of the list that moves everything to Sent
Items, making sure that prior rules use the "stop processing more rules"
action so that the final rule will apply only to those messages that were
not moved by a prior rule.

A caveat - all your moved messages will be marked unread. There's no way
around that.
