    - Validation of Office Hi... Cannot fins a more suitable NG on this server. I have just last night fitted my new harddisk and furnished it with a clean install of MS Windows Vista Home Premium. The OS easily got activated. Then I installed Office Home and Student, and upgraded to Office Standard. During the startup of Outlook I'd got a validation request, which I went trough with flying colors. I got a message on screen telling me that my MS Office was activated. Then I went to download MS Outlook Connector, and my Office failed in the validation test. The error message read: Microsoft Office Home and Student 2007: Product Not Activated[0x80180101] But...     - Deleting individual mail items from Outlook 2007 archive Why is it taking 10 seconds to delete each mail from my Outlook 2007 archive folder? I may have over 500 to delete but need to examine each one before deleting. Even after it is displayed in the preview window it takes 10 seconds to delete before I can go on to the next one.     - Winmail.dat Attachments - Keep coming back... I keep changing each of my email addresses to "let Outlook Decide" in order to get rid of the "winmail.dat" attachments - but 2 months later - they all have been switched back again. I have hundreds of contacts. Its always the same ones that keep switching back to outlook rich text - and then these people complain to me that they can't read my mail. I have selected "Imap" as the preferred Mail format in Outlook options... How can I rid my machine of this winmail.dat demon once and for all?     - Office 2007 continually configures itself For some reason Office 2007 continually configures itself. It is installed, but every time I run one of the installed programs, it configures again and again. I have tried to re-install it, repair it, diagnose the issue, but I can't seem to fix it. This is an install CD from my Technet subscription, but this happens when I use my retail CD of Office 2003 as well. Operating system is Windows Vista Home Premium SP1. Any ideas?     - Lost Autotext Functionality (Word XP) After Upgrade to Outlook 03 Hi There, We recently upgraded to Outlook 2003 but are still running Word XP. This means we can't use Word as the email editor.     - Outlook 2003 insert file dialog will not display as list Hi I have a strange problem with some users on Outlook 2003 (SP3) on Windows XP (SP2). When clicking the paper clip icon to insert a file, the resulting dialog box will not allow you to display the files as the 'list' or 'details' view. If you select either of these, the files are displayed as icons, despite the drop down box confirming that the files should be displayed in list form. This is not a problem for every user, but for those that have this issue, it is not apparent on any other Office product installed on their systems.     - link from outlook to word bookmark opens doc but not at bookmark I want to put a link into an email (Outlook 2003) to open a Word doc right at a bookmark. When I test the link (by sending the email to myself and clicking the link), it opens the Word doc, but at the top of the doc, not at the bookmark. After upgrading to Vista Home Premium, and after a hard battle to save my PST-file from a faulty harddrive, I connected my HTC Touch to the computer in order to update it from Outlook.     - "Send To>Mail Recipent" Outlook 2007 SP1, Win XP Pro SP2 After right clicking a file in Explorer, selecting Send To>Mail Recipient a new email is created as expected with the selected item already attached. After addressing the email and clicking "Send" however the email remains static on the screen with a misleading message reading "This message has not been sent" displayed above the large Send button. I say misleading because it turns out this email does actually get sent. In this state, the Send button remains highlighted and most other icons & menu options are greyed out. Because this message window is modal to the main Outlook Window you are unable access any other Outlook functionality until this message window is removed. Resetting the outcmd.dat does not fix the problem, as was a suggested fix by someone. If Outlook is not running at all when "Send To>Mail Recipient" is used, then the email message is removed from the screen after sending, as you would expect. But if Outlook is running at the time, even minimised to the system tray, then the email message will instead remain stuck on the screen with the misleading message. Luckily as a workaround, the close gadget does still work on the message and will remove it from the screen. Nevertheless is it still annoying that you should need to do this. As far as I can tell all the MAPI settings on my computer are established correctly. The only weird thing I've noticed is that I have 2 identical "URL: MailTo Protocol" entries listed on the File Types tab of Folder Options. Is this normal? The Delete button is ghosted so you are unable to delete one of the entries.     - Perhaps html encoding Hi, I've got signatures set up on everyone's email in the office, nice HTML graphicy signatures. When people using Outlook send to Outlook Express users, all the images and formatting is lost. OE recognises it as an HTML email, but looses most of the formatting. Additionally, If I forward a message with an attachement from Outlook to an OE user, the attachment seems lost. It's clear by the message size that the "data" is still there, but it's not showed as an attachment. If the message is forwarded as plain text however the attachment is A-OK.     - Outlook 2007 performance I am running Outlook 2007 on Vista Ultimate 64bit. I only have the necessary programs loading in startup, but I am experiencing performance problems in Outlook emails, and sometimes calendar. Significantly, on many occasions when I try to change email folders, like from 'inbox' to 'sent', The screen fades to half grays and I get the message 'Outlook not responding' with the options to restart or close etc. On one occasion a mail that I had 'sent' disappeared altogether, was not in Outbox or drafts, and was not received by the recipient.     - email comes in code Hi, My husband is using Outlook 2003 on Vista Home Premium 32-bit. He have recently formatted and reinstalled Outlook. Ever since around then he consistently receives an email from a particular source that is what looks like code and not readable text. It is only from that sender so far.     - Sent folder sometimes dissapears. I have a customer who references their sent folder from time to time. Recently the folder dissapears and only a reboot will bring it back. I have tried a scanpst.exe. I have backed up Outlook folders and uninstalled Office pro 2003 and re-installed Office 2003 and restored Outlook. Problem still persists.     - how to get unread messages to show up automatically in Outlook? I've recently changed to Office 2007. I use Outlook, and keep my Inbox open all day. Previously, any unread messages showed up automatically (whether I did a manual Send & Receive or whether it was a scheduled one). Now, when a message comes in, the Inbox in the Folder List shows up in bold with the number of unread messages beside it, but the actual Inbox itself doesn't show anything UNTIL I change the View. It doesn't matter what View I have open (whether it's Messages or Last Seven Days or Unread Messages) - it is the act of changing the View itself that allows the new messages to show up.     - Clicking a link always starts new process I have Outlook 2007 and IE7 running on a W2K3 terminal server (in execute mode). Here is the specific problem I have: there is a link to a website that requires a login in the e-mail. I click on the link in the e-mail and I am taken to the correct site and prompted for log in. After logging in, I am redirected to the content referenced from the link in the e-mail. In the same message, I click on another link that should take me to different content on the same site, opened in a new tab. However, a new iexplore process is started and I am once again prompted to log in. After logging in again I am redirected to the correct content. How can I keep from having separate iexplore processes from opening? Here are some of the tests I've tried so far: 1. This works flawlessly on a WinXP Pro SP2 computer. 2. On the terminal server, if I copy the link in Outlook then manually open a new tab and paste the link - I am not prompted for another log in. 3. If I am using OWA the links work without a problem.     - How Can Outlook be Linked to a Web Image? I am trying to send an email through Outlook that links to an image (a 1KB html file) on a Web site. To make the link, I went to Insert > Picture. In the Picture dialog box, I pasted the imageâ??s correct URL in the Picture Source field, and clicked OK. The image does not appear in the message body.     - current view will not be saved Hi, One of my users is using outloop 2002 sp3. He tried to modify the view of "sent" folder in an archive folder. Fox example he removed the "Received" field and add "Sent" field. Everything looks good after he made the change. But if he close and re-open outlook, the view went back to the previous setting.     - Outlook 2003, Vista, and Windows Mobile Device Center = High CPU usage I wrote about the Outlook 2003 CPU usage problem a while back and so far have not found a solution. But I think I have narrowed down the problem. I removed my PST file and created a new one. I downloaded all of my email and then imported my contacts and tasks from the old PST. Outlook runs fine now on Vista. I then removed my sync settings for my cell phone and set that all up fresh again. After I got it all resynced Outlook is now back to constantly using 40%+ of CPU. It also will not shut down without killing it. And I am not syncing any more. My phone is not connected to the laptop. Yet Outlook uses the cpu. So it must me the new Windows Mobile Device Center that is not releasing Outlook. I do have Vista SP1 installed, too. Any ideas how to fix this?     - Outlook 2003 showing Red X in E-Mails with embedded pictures I am having some users who have an issue with outlook 2003 showing a Red X when they send an e-mail or received an e-mail with an embedded picture.     - Sending from default account on replying from other accounts? Hi guys, I have a new email address that I have set as my default account (OL 07). When I send a new message, it automatically goes from this new email address. However, I am still receiving mail into my older accounts and when I reply to these I'd like to ensure they are also sent from my new email address. I've had a look at the various rules, but the only one that deals with replies is to reply using a template, and it just automatically sends a blank message without waiting for me to type anything.     - Outlook 2007 Calendar: Private by default I ran into a scenario where a user was running Outlook 2007, and needed every appointment to be marked as Private by default. Because the form differs so much between Outlook 2003 and 2007, Microsoft's published instructions (http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/outlook/HA011456981033.aspx) do not apply at all to Outlook 2007. I had to figure this out on my own. Here is the procedure in case anyone out there needs this functionality: Outlook 2007: 1) Tools >> Forms >> Design A Form 2) Select Appointment, click Open 3) When the Form Designer comes up, look in the (All Fields) tab 4) At the top, Select from: All Appointment Fields 5) Scroll all the way down. Look at the field "Sensitivity". Change the word Normal to Private 6) Click Publish >> Publish Form 7) Publish it as the name PrivateAppointmentForm 8) Close the Form, and don't save it Now in Outlook, you have to associate PrivateAppointmentForm form with your calendar folder: 1) From Outlook's Go menu, select Folder List 2) Right-click your calendar >> Properties 3) The first tab, "When Posting to this folder, use:" >> select PrivateAppointmentForm 4) OK New appointments should now automatically have the "Private" option selected. -PC Tag: Not able to send mails from outlook. In doing to Outlook locks up as the copy is created and uploaded to my IMAP server. Does anyone know how to stop it doing this? Im using Outlook 2003. Many thanks!! G.     - why is undeliverable Mail sent repeatidly I'm having difficulty with E-mails continually being resent when the recievers user account is over quota. Usually you get one chance per potential respondent to elicit a reply
from them. If they skip your post because you gave them nothing to go
on and no context, often they'll just move on to the next post and never
