Hi guys,

I have been unable to view attachments of any file type using Outlook 2007
on Vista Ultimate.

* When I try to view an attachment, for example a GIF file, I get a message
box saying "The operation Failed. An object could not be found."
* When I try to save the attachment, I get a message box saying "Cannot save
the attachment."
* When I try to "preview" the file, I get a page with a message saying "This
file cannot be previewed. Try opening the file in the program in which it
was created."

I can, however, view, preview and save the same files on Windows XP / Office
2003. Is anyone able to shed any light on this please?

- Graham

have you tried office diagnostics yet? That should be the first step.

does this happen for every attachment - from gif to jpg to pdf to word and
excel files or does it only happen with some file types?

Hi Diane,

Diagnostics revealed nothing. Did it twice.

The behaviour occurs no matter the file type. Even simple txt files fail to
open.

Hi Diane,

The folder had a lot of stuff in it, so I cleared it of all but cookies. No
change - the problem still exists.

Hi Diane,

Yes you're right; I had deleted temporary files in Internet Explorer.

I then looked in
c:\users\gseach.andromeda\appdata\local\microsoft\windows\temporary internet
files\content.outlook\alq0yqk4
...but the folder was empty.

This is the folder pointed to in the Registry.
