 - Drag-Drop I'm using Outlook 2007 but have tested it with Outlook 2003. I'm not sure why but I can't drag-drop from Outlook to another application. For example: I want to drag-drop an email message from Outlook to Outlook Express. Doesn't work. I *can* drag the message to my desktop and the drag the message from the desktop to Outlook Express, but directly from Outlook to Outlook Express. We have a customer written application that is drag-drop enabled and the same thing happens. We want to drag a pdf file from an email (an attachment) to our application. It doesn't work directly.  - Show full drop down menus after short delay I'm sure this Outlook feature (common to all my Office 2000 products) drives others crazy, as it does me. The short delay is about 5 seconds, which might as well be 5 hours for all the practical use it is (not)! I have searched the forum messages but can't find anything relevant. Can anyone help by advising either how to switch this featutre to zero delay so that all menu items appear instantly.  - Outlook 2007 paragraph spacing, reprise Hello, Perhaps in response to the earlier outcry, the Outlook 2007 (with Vista Ultimate) that I just installed came with the Normal Style defaulting to 0 space after paragraphs. This meant that, typing a new message into the HTML editor, I had to hit Enter twice in order to have any visible space between my paragraphs. This, then, had the effect of sending my messages with an extra paragraph (nbsp) between each paragraph. Still, it looked okay in Outlook. However, it did not look okay to others, in Gmail and elsewhere. And it did not look okay when echoed back to me in the form of replies. So, what to do? I searched and read up on the problem. I changed the Normal style to have a 10pt space after each paragraph. This way, when I hit Enter once in the editor, I can see a space between the paragraphs, and I am happy. Also, the resulting messages still look okay (at least in Gmail and Outlook both). So far so good. However, when I reply to a message sent from Gmail, or try to carry on a sequence of replies with anybody, I still have problems. Here is an easy sequence to replicate: 1. Write message to Gmail user. Looks good to both me and him. 2. Gmail user replies. Looks good to me and him. 3. I try to reply to the Gmail reply. I have the Normal style as the default, but suddenly the Normal style no longer has 10pt spaces after paragraphs. That aspect of the Normal style has been stripped by Gmail. So, again, in order to see space between my paragraphs, I am forced to hit Enter twice. This then causes double-spacing and the well-known annoyances. 4. To avoid the problem, every single time I reply I must change the Normal style to add back in the 10pt space. Notice that the 10pt space is only stripped for replies. If I compose a new message, the Normal style is as it should be, complete with its 10pt space. So, I ask: is there any way, with Outlook 2007, to carry on a conversation with non-Outlook users, and not have spacing problems creeping in?  - Distribution Lists Hi All, Wasn't sure which would be the best group to post this in......... We seem to be having some issues with people viewing distribution list members. The members are not hidden and if I remove the persons permissions and reapply them it seems to rectify the problem for a little while. I don't know if it is coincidence or not but most of the people having a problem seem to be listed as the manager of the DL. I have looked and followed the article about setting the permissions in security rather than on the managed by option but this doesn't seem to make a difference.  - Outlook 2k3 forgets password since Office2k3 SP3 Installation One of our customers uses Outlook 2003 on a citrix server. Since we installed the service pack 3 for Office 2003, Outlook forgets the mail password. Everytime a user restarts outlook, the password is gone. The password field in the account settings is empty, when we reenter the password there, its gone again after the next restart of Outlook. We never had problems before installing SP3.  - jpg's do not display using Word as editor I use Outlook 2003 at work. Recently my jpg signature stoppe displaying, a box shows up but no red x. If I stop using Word as m editor my signature will display. This not only occurs with my sig jp but with all jpgs. I use SnagIt a lot to post snapshots in my email and they will not display when Word is activated. The reason I want t use Word is because of the way it handles attachments. My PC is runnin XP. I have searched and searched for an answer but cannot find anyone wh can figure it out. I've tried running repair, turning off and on an off the picture handling option but no fix.  - My reading pane won't open and I can't turn Outlook off I have Outlook 2007. I have my disk partitioned so I can use it and also my wife.  - Rule for outgoing message Is there a rule or method to warn oneself that you are about to send a message to a list (particular address) - when one is tired and one writes a reply that you wish to send to the sender who has posted something to a list - and not have it go to the whole list - because one clicks send (and it goes) - and you go "oops" (or something stronger) - and you reach for it and try to grab it back - and it's too late - it's in cyberspace? I'v e heard of many people doing this - and I've done it. Surely there is a way to present oneself with a dialog box that says - you are about to send a message to a list - are you sure you want to do this? Or a setting - that shows you the e-mail address you are sending to - before it goes to cyberspace - even if it means it's a message that is going to appear for every e-mail you send.  - Outlook 2007 question I have two machines sharing the one calendar and display that calendar on both machines only. On this machine that doesnt have control of the calendar, in the To-Do bar, only the default calendar appointments for this machine are shown. I have to click on Calendar and then I can see what is going on for the day but I would prefer to have the appointments show up in the To-Do bar instead. So, is there any way to change the To-Do bar on this machine to show that alternate shared calendar from the other machine instead please? If so, how? Thanks.  - Outlook 2002 - Two user account I recently moved information for 2 users from Palm Desktop to Outlook 2002. For some reason I chose an option along the way to make one of the users the default user, so the only way to change to the other user is to go to the Control Panel / Mail icon and change to the other user.  - Outlook 2007, IMAP, Two User Accounts Hi, I've just completely reinstalled both Vista Ultimate and Office 2007, and managed to set up Outlook to my existing IMAP e-mail account without any problems at all, with all e-mail folders synchronising perfectly. However, when I set up another user account and tried to set up that email account, Outlook isn't working properly. The settings work OK, as I've tested it with an Outlook test message and the headers of the messages are showing. The problem seems to be with Outlook, as I cannot shut the program down other than by using Task Manager, and when I do Outlook retarts, I get a 'Configuring account' pop up, and then I'm back to an unresponsive program. Funny thing is, I can delete messages, I can only open one at a time (I get an error sound when I try to open another message) and the preview screen doesn't show anything for ages. I've tried to set up the account again, with the same problems, yet the account works perfectly from another PC in my home network. I'm really confused.  - Outlook 2003 limit on .pst file size Hi All I use Outlook 2003 at work and my .pst file is on a LAN server personal folder so I can access my .pst file from whatever conference room I am having a meeting in. I created a personal folder with subfolders so I can save my emails in individual folders dedicated to a particular subject. Outlook occasionally tells me my .pst file has grown too big (1.9 Gig) and I have to delete some emails with shift/delete before I can move any more emails from my inbox. I have considered archiving old emails but the automatic archiving only seems to work in the inbox not the personal folders? Can anyone suggest anything? Any help would be appreciated.  - Repair software recommendations An outlook 2007 pst file is corrupt, and we have to retrieve as muc info as possible from it. scanpst.exe doesn't fix it. It is 1.2 Gb i size. Our focus is primarily the contacts and calendar, but any/al information recovered has value. There are a lot of different software repair tools (shareware an commercial) out there, but no one seems to rate them. If you have first-hand experience using these tools good or bad, pleas tell me what you used and how well it worked with your 2007 pst recover efforts.  - New HDD old files? I have just installed a new hard drive. I reinstalled Office 2003 on the new drive and configured my e-mail. Now I have put the old drive in as a "slave" to my new hard drive. I am trying to get my e-mail and contacts from my old installation on the old drive. I have had no luck so far. I was not able to create backups before I put the new drive. Computer power supply crash issue. So how can I access the old files on the old hard drive?  - Can't delete message from outbox or inbox I tried to delete an email from Outbox. When I do I get the message "The messaging interface has returned an unknown error. If the problem persists, restart Outlook" I restart Outlook, restart the computer, but still get the same message. If I try to move the message I also get an error. If I try to dismiss a calendar reminder, I get the same error. I try to delete from the Inbox and get the same error. Any idea what could be going on?  - Outlook 2003 & 2007 Freezing When Browsing Messages We have a fairly new problem on 3 notebooks and 2 desktops. All are equipped with Windows XP Pro and either Outlook 2003 or 2007. Browsing through emails causes delays, sometimes of up to 6 minutes or more to display an item in the preview pane. All mail items and attachments have been downloaded and previously viewed. The delays are random - some items display quickly, others seem to take forever. It doesn't seem to based on mail or attachment size. I have disabled Symantec antivirus and PestPatrol but the problem persists. Outlook doesn't crash - if you wait long enough the message will be displayed correctly. All machines have the latest Windows and Office updates. As this issue has occured within the last 45 days or so, I wonder if it's an update that's the culprit. Any advice is greatly appreciated.  - Outlook child windows not in XP style theme I am using Outlook 2007 and XP. When I click a link in an Outlook email, and IE7 opens, it comes up in Classic theme, instead of the XP theme that I use (Royale Noir). Other child windows from Outlook (Send/Receive Status, Rules and Alerts, Field Chooser, etc) all come up in Classic theme as well. Once I launch after installation, it automatically attempts to migrate account settings, then displays an error message that reads as follows: "Failed to register a VB Script DLL.  - Outlook 2003 configured for HTML messages, but only displays as plain Recently, our company has switched to the OnlyMyEmail spam filtering service, and about that time, received emails stopped being displayed in HTML and are now displayed only in plain text. The "Read all standard mail in plain text" option IS unchecked, so that can't be the problem. Also, emails sent locally (from one of our email accounts to another) are unaffected. Finally, the support page for Outlook 2003 lists this as a possible cause: "On the way to the recipient, the message might have been routed through an e-mail server that doesn't support formatted messages." All of the above leads me to believe that the problem is on OnlyMyEmail's end, but we've sent them an email and they've denied that they're the cause of it.  - Upgrade to 2007? I'm using Outlook (and Office) 2003, with Win XPSP3. What advantages (and disadvantages, if any, besides the expense) would I find in upgrading to Outlook 2007? (Of course the upgrade would be to Office 2007, but for this discussion we can just discuss the changes to Outlook, not other Office programs.) Is 2007 less buggy, more stable?  - enabling address books Outlook 2007 Trying to get my contacts to show up in the Address Book (when I press CTRL-N and select 'Address Book'). Here is what I have. 3 folders (uncertain of the lingo) - Personal Folders, Husband's, Wife's. When I go to Properties for each folder's Contacts folder and select the 'Outlook Address Book' tab, the 'Show this folder as an email address book' checked but grayed out in all three folders. (On one occasion I did find the checkbox for my wife's contacts ungrayed out (is that a phrase?) but don't know why. Even on the occasion when my wife's address book should have been active, the address book was empty and is still empty. How do I 'ungray' the 'Show this folder as an email address book' checkbox?  - OLMAP32.DLL Error after upgrade from Office 2003 to Office 2007 on Two days ago I upgraded from Office 2003 to Office 2007 Enterprise on a laptop running XP/SP3. Everything I've tried in the office suite seems to work well except Outlook. Even after applying Office SP1, whenever I try to start Outlook I get a tiny error box that simply says error, OLMAPI32.DLL. I have spent more time than I would like to admit Googling the problem but have found no solution that works for me although I've tried various solutions that appear in multiple discussions of the problem=97up to and including experimenting with removing all registry references to OLMAPI32.DLL. Nothing has helped! I definitely need Outlook on my laptop. Does anyone have a solution to this problem which, as far as I can see, Microsoft has not documented (perhaps I'd missed something?).  - template problem Hi, I've seen a problem whereby whenever a user creates a new email message, or replies to an existing one, all of their text is underlined. I identified this as being due to the normal.dot template. I edited normal.dot so that underline isn't selected and saved. This fixed the problem with replying to emails, however they still have the problem when composing new emails?!?!? FYI when opening a new word document, underline is off. Anyone know how to fix this?  - Outlook rewrites subject line to "SPAM: [original subject]" I'm working with a customer of mine who I believe has some form o malware on his machine that is rewriting the subject line for all o his outbound emails. Here are the symptoms. 1. The office has quite a few users and they all use the same SMT server. Only one user is has this problem. 2. When the problem user composes an email with a certain subject, th recipient receives the email, but the subject is always preceded wit SPAM: 3. The mail headers show that Spam Assassin looked at it, but score it as non-spam. Has anyone heard of or seen anything like this? Does any have an ideas how to fix it?  - Shared Contacts Forgive me if the answer to this has already been posted somewhere but I cannot seem to find it. I need some help trying to organise contacts on a 2 user PC using outlook. Here is the situation: On a Vista PC there are two different users which need to use the same contacts. The tricky thing is that each user has a different identity in outlook i.e. user 1 = personal, user 2 = work. User 2 wants to have the same contacts as user 1. Is this possible without having to manually export and import csv files between the two user profiles?
